Summertime is pretty hot at Woodward reservoir. It's best to camp by the water.

Relaxing right by the water. And dogs are allowed on leash.
My fishing poles are in the water.

The Good: Affordable, somewhat clean access to local natural beauty. The Bad: Rude Brazilians. I was here last Fourth of July and came back this Fourth of July. Both times, we were on T-Island. Both times, rude, ghetto-ass Brazilians cranked their awful music to ridiculous volumes so loudly, you could hear it across the lake. This time, we were at site# 120. It was obvious at least three campsites of Brazilian party-goers came together. One party was in #119 and the other two were at #121 and #122. How do I know this? My wife happens to also be Brazilian and we both picked up on the Portuguese being spoken. At least once, kids and a FULL GROWN ADULT all walked or biked through our campsite to get to their other friend's campsite, or should I say, impromptu music festival. I had to tell them to please not do that, since we weren't part of their party. Pretty obvious rules of camping decorum if you ask me. The music festival you ask? Site #122 had some Jack-ass and his green Honda Civic hatch-back with a competition-level audio system blaring ALL DAY Wednesday and Thursday leading up to July Fourth evening. I was hoping his car batteries would explode in the triple-digit heat and end the torture but no luck. Eventually, after asking him and both my ignorant neighbors to turn it down, they finally had mercy on our souls by the end of Thursday. It's a shame the management doesn't do anything to weed out this behavior. I certainly will not be staying at T-Island, or rather" The favela on the lake" anymore. And if you're Brazilian and read this, please know my family is Brazilian-American and this is not how most people, Brazilian or not, act in a public camping setting like this. This is not a music club or festival. This is not Brazil. This is not a street festival. This is not a favela. Be better neighbors the next time you camp with others who spent good money to be here.

Been coming to this campsite for a very long time. 15+ years. Used to come here camping a half dozen times each summer with my kids when they were little. They used to complain there want enough trees, but I loved being able to travel to a campsite that was about an hour away and being able to camp right on water. There are many campsites and there are bathrooms and showers. It offers day use and overnight camping.https://www.stancountyparks.com/woodward-reservoir/

We came here for the day because some of my family went camping in an rv. You can have an rv or tents. For the day it cost $20 a car not bad if you have a lot of people in one car. It's a big lake and everyone parks around the lake. There are spots you can reserve and there are open spots. There's a few little store you can buy things from. There are bathrooms and showers. The lake doesn't look super clean but it was ok. This place is nice and open and great for kids. My kids had a blast we will definitely be returning.

This is a nice little gem nestled near the Stanislaus River. It is decently priced with $ 30 a night for camping & $ 15 a day for day use. They do have a life jacket shack & you will be properly fitted by a deputy sheriff. I find that to be amazing. They have full amenities for RV or tent camping. There is a grocery store less than 5 miles from the reservoir & they are very cheap in price. I hope you will give it a chance & make great memories with your friends & families.
