It's understandable how Winn has earned a less than stellar star rating over time. I myself wrote one of those low reviews. Yet, after successful recent efforts to upgrade and clean it up, I feel it's earned a new review and star upgrade. It's a small but objectively pretty square block with historic significance. In the middle is an art deco building that was just recently cleaned out and upgraded so that it can become a future business space. There's a good amount of benches and tables and pathways, and the exterior is lined by tall and pretty palm trees. The negatives, like the large number of homeless who gather here, are less so if you frequent the park, find they don't bother anyone and further remind yourself that they have few other places to go. I know if I was homeless, a warm piece of grass under a shady tree would be preferable to hanging around the food bank down the street. It's just something to keep in mind and consider should you be walking around here alone, for example.

On Wednesdays, there's a farmers market from 3-7:30pm.. Chairs were brought in and sprinkled around a portion of the grass.. I don't know if that's a forever thing. The market recently launched. There was your typical fresh produce stands, local vendors, and a couple food trucks.. Pretty busy, some drew lines. Most farmers markets are in the morning so having this later one is nice.. it's the hottest part of the day tho. The Co-op is two blocks down but I guess there are things like certain vendors, food trucks and the social aspect going on that you wouldn't get at the Co-op.

Do you like discarded drug paraphernalia? Do you like homeless encampments? Do you like trees that drop thorns so sharp that if you walk barefoot over them it will cut up your feet? If your answer is yes, have I got the city park for you....

This park is a great place to hang out, work out, frisbee, dogs, catch with your kids (I'm sure long overdue) etc. every park in the country can have some homeless present, and they would be less present if folks came around to enjoy the city parks like this one. Sacramento does an incredible job policing their city parks to maintain a safe environment. Specific to this park Wednesdays at Winn is an incredible evening farmers market to eat, shop, and relax after work that takes place every Wednesday.

Zombies are real and they are eating people alive. The bunker in the center of this park is probably the safest place to spend two hours filming a movie with a small group of people including: an old man with a pickup two blocks away (but forgot his keys); a teen couple who love each other regardless of the fact that one of them is turning into a zombie; a mother and her daughter with the same thing going on as the teen couple; a hot babe; and you, the man living a mundane life until he is forced to be the leader of a survivalist group waiting for federal military support.Depending on what zombie movie, the dangerous, spear-tipped fence surrounding the bunker should buy you some time. If it's a movie where zombies are fast and can climb, then maybe this bunker isn't such a good idea. It's solid and protected, but you'll run out of food and have no way to escape. If I find out that there are tunnels leading outside of the one-block park or the basement has a stockpile of ammunition and food, then I'll change my review to five stars.Until the zombie apocalypse this park is just bums and wet, shaded grass.

What's this?! A chance to directly contradict Olivia L?! Count me in! As a dad to a two year old toddler there are few playgrounds that are really tailored for the littlest of little'uns in mind. Winn Park is one such place. The playground is appropriately small, both gates actually work and there's a LOT of spongy bark in the play area. the actual jungle gym is the right size for toddlers with the myriad of safety barriers legally required built in. The building (a pumping station - i think) is the perfect size for Violette to walk around and then end up right back at the playground. We are soon to outgrow this little park but for now it's perfect.

I live across the street from here and see many comings and goings. It's a decent, safe park with lots of shade and a fenced in playground for you to bring your brats - I mean kids - to play. There are a couple picnic tables where I see people studying and reading. A lot of people walk their dogs around and through the park and the dogs seem to approve. I don't know what's up with that building in the middle, but I'm going with Joshua B.'s zombie apocalypse bunker. Two stars off because the park has no swings for me swing on. What's the point of a park with no swings?

Over. Taken. With bums. And the under-employed.Still, it is growing on me and I am now using it more often to do things like yoga and jumping jacks. But I do watch for the pewps now as some have materialized and even disguised themselves as mud. Tricky shiza.

Not awful, not great.I go to this park a few times a day to take the dog out and there's usually one or two bums sleeping but I've never been bothered. There's a child's playground that sees some use and it's cleaned and mowed every week it seems. It's the kind of place that could be a lot better if the city updated the landscaping and removed the unmarked structure that sits in the middle - it's a curio and closes off the expanse a bit. If it could be torn down and a fountain like that found at Fremont Park built, I think the park would be better off.

The best thing about this park is the proximity to my house. Winn is as mentioned before, one square block and I too like to make up what the hell the building in the middle is. There is always a good four or five homeless people taking a nap at any time, but they are easy to jump over as you play Frisbee. It gets more difficult if they bring their own mattress to sleep on as they sometimes do. As a percussionist, my neighbors absolutely hate me, so I use the park for practice and to record quick song ideas. I have to say I like the park and use it frequently.
