DO NOT CAMP HERE! host is a RULE-NAZI SHREW who will threaten to call the sheriff if you are one tent or car or human over the limit! we reserved 3 sites and a dock slip with 5-8 friends per site to enjoy the delta. the docks are a hazard! my husband twisted his ankle when the dock broke underneath his footing and the overgrown reeds will wrap around your prop--BE WARNED! paid for a dock we never used. have NEVER received so much grief and harassment for NOT being drunk or loud or rowdy!!! host will track every guest in your 2-tent site and track every car in overflow and don't you DARE think of sleeping in a van or try and enter camp 5 minutes before the gate closes! camp hosts are killers of fun and unicorns... will take our business to Tower Park from now on!

(Review is based on Fishing only) Great spot to get away from heavy congested area. Has bathrooms but zero shade so bring something to provide you with shade. Park fees are reasonable $5 weekday, $6 on weekend. Only thing keeping it from a 5 star is that the park opens at 8am, by that time the top water bite for bass and stripers are nearly gone. Oh.... don't forget to watch the tides if your heading out there to fish.

I don't write a lot of reviews but wow this place sucks. I booked and paid for two nights here on a recommendation from a friend, and I don't know if she's oblivious to what goes on here or if it was just the offseason. Here's how it went for us:- We rolled up around 5pm, with no one to check us in. So we just drove to an empty site and started setting up.- A couple on a golf cart drives up and asks for money for the extra car, but not for our names or to see the reservation confirmation.- The couple informs us that gates are locked for the night at 9pm because of "the homeless problem." So if we wanted to drive away after that time, we couldn't. They also said, "If you see wasps, let us know."- We look for the swimming area, which is very close to our site, but it appears that boats can also dock there, which is not safe. It also is overgrown with algae. This may have had something to do with the water from the spigots, which was brownish and tasted a bit off.- The fire pit is just kind of a shallow box on concrete? I trip over it (luckily nothing was burning yet), and it moves around.- As darkness falls, some folks drive by trying to sell us firewood. Seems bizarre, considering usually a camper can buy from the camp host or a nearby store. - We realize we're surrounded by people who aren't camping. They live here. We see folks nodding off as we walk to the bathroom and hear dogs barking. We notice at least 7 parties driving up to the RV next to us, going in for 15-20 mins as the party lights outside change colors, and then driving away. My friends didn't feel safe and slept with kitchen knives under their pillows.- The next morning, we see cats on leashes, guard dogs on ropes, people in sedans with no camping gear either nodded off or just hanging out waiting for the campground gates to open, and people very clearly going through withdrawal in the bathroom. After only one night, we decide to flee to Brannan Island, which was the right decision.- When I contacted the San Joaquin County Parks Department to let them know what was going on there, I was given the runaround and definitely did not receive a refund. We were in such a rush to GTFO that we didn't stop at the jerky store nearby. It was that bad.

I'm a fan! A little on the windy side so bring warm clothes for evening. Kid friendly and great fishing. We got campsite #14 which offers plenty of shade and room to play as only one side can be occupied since other is connected to day use. Great for kids to use grass for soccer, football and tag ect.. campsite #1 was reserved but defiantly second best spot (if not first). Campsite hosts are good people who seem to enjoy the kids having a good time. They had a small pile of gravel (rocks) to be spread for the road and stopped to let us know the kids or more then okay to play with the Tonka trucks in it, of which I thought was pretty awesome and the gates they left open all night for families to arrive late. We will definitely be back :) ohhh and only $20 a night and $5 for a second vehicle

Westgate Landing is one of two San Joaquin County Regional Parks with a campground (the other is Dos Reis, in Lathrop). The park is located in the delta between Lodi and Rio Vista, across highway 12 from a monstrous KOA "resort." According to the camp host the park is below sea level and I believe him as there is a levee running through the park and the water was clearly higher than the surrounding land. In addition to the campground the park also has a day use area with picnic tables, a fishing pier and a small boat dock. The fourteen campsites at Westgate Landing are all pretty similar, but #1 is my preferred site because it's a large site (the largest?), doesn't have a neighbor on one side, has plenty of shade, is on the levee side of the road and is one of the closest sites to the bathrooms. If #1 wasn't available I'd pick another site on the levee side of the road because they had more shade and I enjoyed the feel of being close to the levee more than the fence and farmland. With kids I would definitely pick a levee-side site (1-...7?) as mine loved playing in the brush. At $20/site Westgate is a little cheaper than Dos Reis campsites because the sites here don't have hookups. For California this is decent value, although there's not much around (arguably a plus) and the park could benefit from some improvements. Most notably, the water was putrid and while ostensibly potable, I wouldn't drink it. Another area for improvement is the 10 pm to 6 am quiet hours, which are problematic on both ends (I think 9 pm to 8 am is more considerate).

The gate person taking the money for parking was very rude when people are dropping off camping equipment or people he talks very disrespectfully to everyone and will speed across the campground just to talk to people crazy. Would not let us i the gate when we had already paid $6 other than his rude self we had a good time

We had reserved three sites for a group camp out, three days 6/17 thru 6/20. When we reserved these sites the weather was in the high 70's as we got closer to the arrival date a heat wave was forecast form 108 to 113 degrees, I am 74 , my wife is disabled and I am afraid that we would be miserable or worst case sickened by this extreme heat, I called and emailed the Parks administrator to plead my case for a refund or date exchange and they denied our request. Very disappointed in there lack of flexibility, #neveragain

Looking for a weekend getaway and I'm pretty sure I found it. If you need to be entertained while camping, this place is NOT for you. If you have kids, that needs to be entertained while camping, this place is NOT for you. If you need hook-ups to survive, this place is NOT for you. What this place offers, is quietness and fresh air. There are restrooms, but no showers. The fire-pits are on concrete and pretty much level. Each picnic table is lever and on a concrete pad. All campsites are pull-thrus. There are NO hook ups of any kind. There are several water spigots. There are trash cans at every campsite. The camp host would walk the grounds in the morning and in the evening. Very friendly, but not nosey. We will be going back again and again and.....
