West Manor Park is a small park in west Davis. This hidden gem is located off of Salem Ave behind a few large apartment complexes. This small but huge park is a favorite for locals and college students, due to how remote this park is. In the mornings you will find people walking their fur friends of all kinds there. During the afternoons you will see kids playing on the big play structure, swinging on the swing, going around on the merry-go-round, digging holes in the large sand box or playing baseball on the baseball diamond. There is a large grassy area with a small gravel walking track that borders the grass and during the spring/summer time there is even a volleyball net the city puts up for public use. This park also has a roller hockey ring, a basketball court, and a tennis court. On Sundays you can even join in with the Davis Bike Polo League. Regular pick up games start at 12pm and end whenever it gets dark. There are 103 trees planted all around this park, (yes I counted all of them) which makes for some great shade during the hot summer days. I would say this is one of the better parks to have a picnic or BBQ at because there are plenty of picnic tables. Nine picnic tables are out in the open covered by the trees, one picnic table is by the basketball courts and there are two that are under a wooden covering. However there are only two small BBQs and one large one all located by the large seating area. This park also has a men's and women's restroom, but be careful because there are no doors on the stalls. The park is also equipped with one recycle container, four trash cans throughout the park, two bike racks and one water fountain. There are two parking lots for this park. The main lot is located off of Salem St, and the smaller lot is located off of Portage Bay Way. There are also two walking entrances from the residential side of the park located on Cumberland Place and Brandywine Place. I do not advise to park there since it is a residential area. Come out and enjoy this beautiful park in West Davis!

As far as I can tell this park is primarily best used for drinking.. Other than that there aren't a ton of redeeming qualities about this space. It's mostly just open (and yellowing) grass, with just a couple picnic tables under a few trees. They do have tennis, roller skating, etc courts, but they're pretty cracked and worn down. The baseball / kickball field only has a backstop, so actually playing the game is a do-it-yourself affair. The park is also pretty modest in size. Still, since the alcohol container ordinance apparently doesn't apply here and the park is pretty isolated, if you want to get drunk outside with your friends this is the prime place to do it! Thankfully, drunk people aren't usually too worried about the quality of a park.

I've had the opportunity to watch members of the former Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh perform there recently. What a great surprise! Thank you!

West Manor Park's best feature is that it is the best place for bike polo in Davis. As such it is now the site of Davis Bicycle Polo's beginner/ friendly day on Sundays. The court there is not the greatest but it is the best available. That in itself makes it a great park for a number of folks, myself included. It fills a niche for us in that it has several grills/ bbqs as well. It also has a decent little play structure and one tennis court and of course the grassy area. Another great feature is the bike path that runs near the peremiter as it seems to get a lot of use for teaching little ones to ride a bike. To me, that, and the bicycle polo compatability make it an ideal Davis park, "bike capitol" of whatever right? The drinking lets people enjoy some wine with their picnic or have a brew after whatever game they play. All in all it's great place, but I do agree with the previous poster about the upkeep. Those boards around the peremater of the court must be a few decades old. The court was built for hockey but since that seems to have died out it sits and rots and the surface it cracked.
