I have always had a great experience here. The tackle shop is very basic but if you are fishing the Delta everything you need is there. There bait has always been great. I have no complaints. Been going there for years. I have seen people here on yelp talk about the staff being rude but I have never seen this to be true.

Made a stop at Virgil's en route to Grizzly Bay. Needed some circle hooks, but they didn't carry any. You work with what is available right? Instead, I picked up some soft plastic lures, grip pin hooks, and some frozen sardines to mix it up a bit. The lady behind the counter was helpful. She gave her recommendations and even threw a little bag of ice for the sardines. I'd definitively return, but I highly recommend calling in for fresh bait if that is your thing as some weren't available.

Joann is an actual saint. I'm from out of town stuck here for work, so obviously I had no gear. I grabbed a beer while I was here (super awesome if you ask me). I inquired about some rental gear which they do not provide. But Joann went above and beyond. She lent me some of her gear so that I could fish during the weekend. She pointed me to her favorite spot, and I finally caught a fish. This shop is awesome and I'll never shop anywhere else as long as I'm in the area. Thank you again Joann!

I'm not much of a fisherman, but I like the warm vibe this place gives off. It is a great place for an ice cold beer or two while watching the game & is a local hangout for fishermen (and fisherwomen?). They have charts that tell you daily of high & low tides & also sell fishing licenses (& lottery tickets!) I come in here for worms for my chickens (the other patrons think I'm going 'catching ' lol). The new owners Rick & Linda are always accommodating & quick to welcome you. They've got all kinds of other live bait as well, but alas my chickens are only interested in the worms. I've never gotten a bad batch from here & my hens gobble them up as soon as I can plate 'em. They are very fair with their prices & have never steered me wrong. I LOVE this place & will keep coming back.

Virgil's Bait & Ice is a town treasure. Cool, older building with lots of awesome decor that is fun to look at. Part of the bar is from an old hotel that used to be downtown, from my understanding! This place has always had what I've needed for fishing. The owners keep the bait well-stocked and stock appropriate tackles for fishing the sloughs or the Lake. Staff is very friendly and the regulars there love to give out fishing tips. Virgil's also has a 'Fish of the Month' drawing, so make sure to stop in with your fish!Virgil's is a cool place to stop into for coffee or a cold beer. Yes!-- it is also a beer bar! Very friendly people go there, and they allow friendly dogs inside and will even give your dog a treat! The staff and owners are very welcoming.I work at the golf club and we use Virgil's Ice service sometimes when we have big gold tournaments. Their pricing is always very reasonable AND they deliver!Virgil's is a staple in the community. They hold several events each year, including a striper derby and a Chili Cook-off. They also have done a lot for our community by donating event proceeds to local non-profits and foundations like the Suisun Wildlife Center. They also do a lot of work for wildfire relief. Truly amazing people here. This is the place to go for all your fishing needs, a cold beer, or great company!

This bait shop has a very limited amount of supplies I suggest you find another bait shop or just go to Walmart every time I come here I usually end up making another stop to Walmart because they never have what I need. The lady that works the counter is not that knowledgeable about the fishing in the areas so don't ask. the bait supply runs out fast so if your not gonna be there early (5am) chances are what your looking for is sold out or that's just what I get told. Good luck fishing

I give this place 5 stars solely speaking of the bar behalf here...the lady tender was very sweet and helped us right away. We sat over the counter and she asked if we wanted to watch tv or any particular channel, super accommodating and the Guinness was cold! I'll be back for a quick nab at brew...
