Great small venue nestled in the heart of Danville. Surrounded by pubs, restaurants and shops you can grab dinner at many places and walk 1-2 blocks to a production.Great sound system and lighting made it very easy to see and hear folks on stage. See my check in comments for more!

We went last night and saw several comedians. Very enjoyable show and the price was great. The headliner was Marc Yaffee and he was fantastic! If he is every in the East Bay area again I would highly recommend going to see him.

The Village Theatre is one the staples of Danville that keep make the town charming and cute. (Which is getting harder and harder these days with the town becoming more and more yuppified and snobby.)I used to take theatre classes here as a kid and spent many a happy summer belting it out out in a musical or learning more about behind the scenes stagecraft. I've also had the pleasure of seeing a number of productions by their Repertory company, and I'm pleased to say the quality of acting is far better than one might expect from a "community theatre".The folks who work here, work hard and are very pleasant to deal with. I will always think fondly of the Village Theatre and the many ways it enriched my childhood and my youth growing up in Danville.

This is a great community theater where we enjoyed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with an all youth cast. It could have been a better production if a male actor who danced most of the dances with a female dance ensemble would have blended in better and not been so distracting by trying to draw attention to himself. The director(s) should do a better job at having him to calm down or removing him altogether from the female dance ensemble.

I love this community theater!Went to see Reel Blondes over the weekend. I have never been to the Village Theatre before, and was really impressed. It's obviously a small theatre, and has a very fun vibe. There isn't a bad seat in the house, and the seats themselves are comfortable with a decent aisle space between them. We enjoyed the show immensely. I will be checking out their season schedule for the future. One more reason to love Danville!

Though I attended DGD's 5th grade school play in this theatre 3 years ago, this review is for the Art Gallery and its current show of Bay Area glass artists. I had read a newspaper article last month about a 10 year old boy who blows glass and whose work would be shown alongside established artists, some of whom he has studied w/. http://www.contracostatimes.com/ci_17586973?IADID=Search-www.contracostatimes.com-www.contracostatimes.com&nclick_check=1 The gallery and theatre are w/in walking distance of Tam's home and I was reminded of the exhibit when we drove by last Friday. We made a date to meet for lunch yesterday and Tam and I would go to the exhibit afterward, while DGD visited w/ a friend and Alan went to another appointment. We walked into the gallery, a bright, open space. The first works we saw were large glass pieces of fruit and other, related pieces by Michael Cohn and Molly Stone. I was delighted to see works by Randy Stone, whose work I've known since the 80s and whom I've watched blow glass at his Berkeley studio years ago. Blue Wind, a recent piece of his, probably the most expensive in the gallery at $13,000, was one that begged to come home w/ me and if I had limitless wealth and limitless space it would have done so. Works ranged from funky and funny to elegant. Several artists were familiar to me, but a surprising number were not. David Lindsay was a new-to-me artist whose work whispered to me seductively and Demetra Theofanous, Mary White and George Jercich were all people whose work I liked and w/ whom I was unfamiliar. Glass related videos are showing on a TV in a cozy space on the upper level. It's a lovely, lovely show, worth more than one viewing. The show was curated by Ann Corcoran and Randy Strong. The visual arts coordinator is Amy Miller, who greeted us warmly and chatted w/ us about the art. Theo Hanks, the youngster featured in the news article, is pictured w/ Dale Chihuly and one of his works, an assembly of three nested shapes, clearly showed Chihuly's influence and was good. His other pieces held their own w/ the work of the more established artists. It's an excellent show and I hope to return to see it after we return from our upcoming European trip. There will be a glassblowing exhibit May 7th, the final day of the show.

Kudos to Marissa C. for reviewing this place. Thanks! To add to this, this theatre holds several plays a year (one of which my girlfriend Shannon was in late last year: "Ruthless the Musical). What is cool about this little small town place is that many times you can get tickets for their shows at 1/2 price or so through Goldstarevents.com. My daughter who is in 5th grade will be performing in her school play here next week. This is a local place that allows community schools to utilize their facilities which is such a neat and special thing.Beware-the seats are not spacious so if you pack a little extra in the tush, know you will get fairly friendly with other folks much sooner than expected!
