Booked a room at this hotel mainly because we caught the SouthBay Lakers Vs Stockton Kings on 1/11/25 with some friends. We wanted to have some fun, but also safe so better safe than sorry. Check in was easy, the lobby area is bigger than I expected and very clean..with some view of the restaurant/bar area as well as the turf area where you're to lounge, play pool, swim, or relax at one of the tables that offer a little fire flame for warmth at night. All employees who have helped me during my stay, were polite, informative and professional, making the check in and check out comfortable. Our room was located on the first floor, we had a videw of the country yard waterfront. The rooms were spacious and clean and I was shocked at how big the fridge was. There as some upgrade that can be made to the room...the tv is a bit old and was a little static sometimes. The bed was a spring bed and I could tell it was pretty old but how stiff it was to the point where you can feel the springs. It was quite and peaceful..Other than that everything was perfect! I wish we had checked out the bar and restaurant, but maybe next time!

This hotel with its scenic view has the potential to being a really nice destination. However, I should warn guests that apparently the better view is reserved for dual beds, and king size rooms do not have access to that view.I will say that the customer service was great. We had a small issue and thankfully it was resolved due to the excellent customer service.

I've lived in Stockton for most of my life, and I've been a regular patron at this lounge for years. I usually enjoy the patio and seating areas for business meetings, as well as spending time with family and friends. Since I live nearby, I've never needed to stay overnight. However, tonight was a different experience. After having dinner and catching up with a friend, the security staff and manager asked me to leave. I've never felt so humiliated. Earlier, I was sitting at a lounge table inside when security informed me that, as I wasn't a hotel guest, I could only sit in the dining room or on the patio. I politely moved to the patio and brought the meal I had just purchased but hadn't finished. Not even ten minutes later, security--this time accompanied by the manager--came outside and told me I had to leave. I'm still shocked. I've been a loyal customer longer than either of them have worked there, and I wasn't causing any issues. I can't help but wonder if this treatment was due to how I was dressed. Did I not "look the part"? Was I mistaken for someone who didn't belong? I had just bought food, a Philly and fries, and was peacefully enjoying the space. I wasn't aware there were time or spending limits that restricted how long patrons can use the amenities.Rest assured, I'll be contacting corporate about this unacceptable treatment.

The whole hotel is pretty janky, though reading other reviews it sounds like the rooms are completely hit or miss. Super uncomfortable spring mattress, with significant permanent indents from being so old. All the furniture is incredibly outdated and scuffed up. The TV plays about five channels with the rest "no signal" and they're all channels you probably wouldn't watch (it doesn't even have the guide that you click to see what channels there are?) Bathroom set up is super weird with no practical shelving or towel hang hooks, though really spacious? for some reason there's a full size refrigerator which makes the hallway coming into the room weirdly claustrophobic. Not enough usb ports or outlets in convenient spots to charge your devices. Restaurant food is not horrible, though the drinks and service were great. They're super strict about things like when the gym opens but not about keeping your car safe in their parking lot.Overall, super weird vibe and not at all worth the price that you pay. Closer to a Motel 6 situation than like a Holiday Inn kind of place. Do not recommend if you can help it, though options are limited in this area.

This review is for an event at the University Plaza Waterfront hotel. The tables were beautifully decorated though I believe the people throwing the event did it and not the hotel itself. The tables were placed very close together, in fact walking between two tables when people were seated was basically not possible. The food was served buffet style and it was cold, room temperature at best. It tasted good but it wasn't great. The bartender in the event was using clear plastic cups to serve drinks so I went out to the actual bar to get a glass instead. That bartender was friendly and the prices were reasonable. Parking is challenging and limited. If you are going here for an event my suggestion is to arrive early to ensure you can get parking in the lot adjacent to the hotel. Would give it 3 and half stars but not possible and I just can't bring myself to round up to a four star review as it left too much to be desired to qualify for that. Overall it was decent and I would recommend others give it a try and judge the experience first themselves.

A diamond in the rough! I stayed here for 2 nights for some R&R, and it was well worth it. I booked my reservation through a third party, which probably explains why I got the "water view" that I did, lol (see pics).University Plaza Waterfront Hotel is located right next to the Stockton Arena in downtown Stockton. I've never been here, but I'd been warned many times about the area being "ghetto." There's no denying that part, but I wasn't trying to walk the streets at night or at any time during my stay, for that matter. The parking lot is located across the street. It's literally the Arena parking lot. Weird, but it's free. Just be sure to get your parking pass when you check in and leave it on your dashboard. The hotel is very nice and clean. It has a restaurant right next to the check-in area, which is also kept up nicely. Checking in was a smooth process. I was able to get my room key and go right up. The staff is friendly and they have basic necessities if you happen to forget some essentials. The pool and jacuzzi area is a nice place to kick back and relax. No food or drinks are allowed except drinks from the restaurant in a plastic cup. The hotel sits right on the water, so it's a nice view as you sip and chill. The room itself was very clean, and it has a microwave and full-size fridge. I liked the amount of storage it had, too. The bathroom has everything you need, but the shower doesn't have a door which is kind of weird. Just close the bathroom door if you don't want to feel a draft, lol. My king bed was nice and comfortable.Reasons I dropped a star:-There's a security desk right when you walk in, but I never saw anyone sitting there, like ever. I was in and out a few times during my stay, and I don't think I ever saw any security guards, either. -The rooms need some upgrades. The TVs could be bigger, and there are only 2 USB ports on the tiny alarm clock, the desk could use some.Overall, it was a good place to stay, and I would definitely go again. Hopefully, I'll see security next time. Til my next visit, stay safe and peace out, Stockton!

Previously known as the Lexington Plaza Waterfront HotelSERVICE & TRANSITIONS -- Not off to a great start: $75 early check-in fee (A new record!), on-top of the $20/day resort fee.Upgrading to a double room was also ($25) more expensive in-person than online. Quieren todos plata.Staff were nice & accommodating, particularly the speedy housekeeping employees. Phone service was also consistently courteous & timely. The Lobby: minimal with an awkward orientation; not the best flow & really dry for a transition space.Laundry services were free & the condition of the room+machines was immaculate.Noon checkout-- we like to see it! -- with a 12:30pm (30m) late checkout offered.MVP Employees: housekeepingROOM (315, 426, 429) -- Goodhttps://youtu.be/gkEwgMvkggEhttps://youtu.be/Pn7XaOlnkRshttps://youtu.be/6092-4i4i_YOverall vibe was Sublime, being surrounded by the water & wildlife was so relaxing:we regularly saw humming birds zoom by & ducks swimming from our (floor-to-ceiling) window. It's a pity the website does such a meager job representing its accommodations... They're much more comfortable & spacious than depicted. The entryways are awkward though: a full-size refrigerator in your egress is strange; better to have and not need... as they say.Thermostat being capped at 68 was a bummer on higher floors.BED -- great. A plush & redeeming nights sleep on luxury bedding.Sheraton Sealy sleeper mattresses were in fantastic condition. Firmness was just the right level, paired with toppers softer than clouds.Sheets were noteworthy too: airy, breathable, and smooth to the touch (60:40 poly blend).Comforters felt equally cozy.BATH -- ok. Large dimensions ... with a trite wallpaper , & the ghastly zero-entry shower. The half-pane is a frustrating trend & functionally an annoyance. Double rooms have the better shower installation: an alcove combination soaking tub.Maintenance needs improvement: exhausts was weak & our shower curtains were in tatters-- Tighten up folks!TV/ENTERTAINMENT -- poor. Budget TV & Remote solution; some TVs are modern while others are a relic from the distant past... It's a literal lottery. Dimensions, picture quality, & capabilities were hardly functional. The whole system routinely crashed displaying "No signal". IMHO, just pretend it doesn't exist and enjoy the abundant activities around the property: lively lounge, ping pong, swimming, tanning, spa, & bird watching. WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- great. Unencrypted, fast, free.No noticeable issues with cellular (Verizon) performance.--Performance--Video streaming - GoodOnline gaming - GoodVideo chatting - Good --Nerd Stats--81-116 Mbps download 65-102 Mbps upload0% packet loss13 ms latency8 ms jitterFOOD & DRINK -- ok. DoorDash friendly. The room service menu isn't allergen friendly + no nutrition/calorie info so we didn't bother with this.A trove of snacks (junk food) available for purchase in the lobby. in-room: microwave (full size) fridge (full size) coffeetea wet-bar mini-barNOISE -- ok. Peaceful & quiet when kids aren't running through the halls, loitering in the parking lot or throwing parties.LOCATION -- Good. Water & sun in downtown Stockton. The environment felt safe and the Stockton Arena is just feet away. The route to the property isn't a smooth one & there isn't much else in the vicinity besides this property.RECOMMENDATIONprice: $154.53/nightWas it worth it: yesBest part: laundry servicesThe Drip Pricing (resort/junk fees) was heavy on this one, which soured the experience.Hotel economy in this area of NorCal is already painful & the opaque pricing didn't help. It's since been outlawed which makes this experience must less polarizing IMO.I could see myself returning & would recommend it to others.4/5 @mrstaycation

While the property itself was nice, the experience fell far short of expectations, especially considering the price point.First, we were placed in a room with a view of the pipes and the opposite side of the hotel--essentially no view at all. The AC/heat unit in our room was broken, leaving us unable to cool the room down, which made for an uncomfortable stay. Additionally, the shower was not functioning properly, some lights in the room did not work, and to top it off, there was no complimentary shower gel provided--a basic amenity most hotels of this caliber typically include. On top of all that, there was a $20 resort fee per night, which seemed entirely unjustified given the hotel's location and the lack of any "resort-like" features to warrant such a charge. While I appreciate the overall quality of the hotel, these issues made the stay feel far less luxurious than I had hoped for. For the amount I paid, I expected much better.

"Waterfront Hotel"... does not indicate that one should have a view of the dirty rooftop with equipment and standing dirty water. There was absolutely no view of anything. Since the parking lot was deserted, I can't imagine that the hotel was full. Staff should visit each room so that they are knowledgeable about what the guests are paying for and not stick them in such an ugly room. I wouldn't mind the $20 resort fee, but with the view we had... not worth it! If we had not been staying for just one night, I would have asked to move. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
