U-Haul Moving & Storage At McHenry Ave

This review is specifically about the storage facility, not the truck/trailer rental business, which is great.Be warned - the one and only elevator for this multi-story building is TINY. It is not designed for cargo/freight and doesn't even fit a fully loaded cart!The building was an old health club before becoming storage and U-Haul simply didn't build another, or expand, the elevator situation, so you might get a cheaper price for a second story unit--but just know you'll have to move your stuff up there in tiny-elevator-sized chunks. The layout is also rather labyrinthine, so just know it may be hard to find your space at first. Some spaces require going up and down shallow ramps, which could be hard with a fully loaded cart.These flaws are a shame because its an otherwise nice facility. Climate controlled, clean and neat as a pin. Plentiful courtesy carts on both levels and bathrooms as well. The staff are friendly and helpful and they have a really cool security system. They just need a bigger elevator!

Outstanding customer service from the manager, Mike to his team mates!We rented a van, and the size we needed was available even though it was close to the day we needed it. Since I rented a van, they had a special where I could get one month free of storage space. Score! :)We still have the storage spaces. The reason I say "spaces" is because their storage space rentals are a better deal if they put two together for the customer. The monthly rent is a decent amount (between other places that are higher or lower in cost). It is awesome because you can drive your car or truck into the storage facility and unload your belongings close to the storage unit.One small down side: Our storage units are closest to the stairs not the elevator. It is just the way the floor plan is set up.All in all I would recommend. I posted a few photos. :)

We needed to move into a new apartment and needed a U-Haul quickly. When we returned the truck ON TIME and with the same amount of gas in the tank; we still got charged over $100 in fees. We were thinking it was going to be about $35 plus whatever fees. They overcharged! Do not go here!!
