First Full disclosure : We have never used or personally attended any classes whatsoever! This review is purely based on in depth phone conversation only that we feel everyone should be made aware of before joining! We were looking for self defense classes because our son was being bullied at Traina Elementary so we thought to build our son's self confidence , mind, body and spirit as well if needed defend himself so we where attracted to American Top/Traditional Martial Arts called several and all answered phone except this one so left message and about 2 days later received call back and this is my understanding of that phone conversation .1. 49.00 Special advertised: is 49.00 for 2 days a week for 2 weeks. Its a trail offer to see if you like the class or not from others I've called offer trials are for free But this one charges! I don't have any issue with this so I give it 3 stars as its just ok. 2. If you like the class and wish to proceed they charge 1 time $89.00 Enrollment fee Why ? and what's it used for is beyond me ? Most to my knowledge don't charge any Enrollment fee and since it goes to nothing and no uniform I see that as money in the facilities pockets so I give them 1 star in times with COVID AND JOB LOSSES I see this as a major negative impact on the consumer! 3. THIS ONE WAS THE MAJOR DECIDING FACTOR THAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE OF: They will make you sign a 12 month revolving contract with a 3rd party vendor from what I have heard has poor reviews with BBB that American Top Team/Traditional Martial Arts Studio has no control over and I as well as others need to be cautious of and read the contract very carefully! I did not read this contract because I have never been to the facility but, I did ask lots of questions and offered to pay 12 months in cash in advanced but apparently that wasn't an option! Why ? Use you imagination. If I was to guess I would say someone is making money from you or I by signing those contract because this 3rd party are not processing payments for free and martial arts studio has to be making money as well for their time in explaining and having you sign those contract ! something is not right and everyone needs to be aware of that . On a personal note : I don't understand why the Studio Are unable or unwilling to process there own recurring payments because I deal with small and some large companies all the time and some have lots of customers and every one of them process their own recurring payments as its done all the time without the need for any contract to make the customer feel comfortable instead of trapped into some contract . there just has to be an easier way: so for this I give (- 1 star) Very Disappointing phone call !

Started off really good with my son attending tiny turtles group. Unfortunately we had to stop due to work and school starting up again. Long story short It was a schedule conflict and we exhausted all of our options. Their rule is to give them notice 3 months in advance or they keep charging you for those 3 months. Sorry but how the _______ do you know what your schedule is, yet alone LIFE is going to be like in 3 months?!?! I didn't even know I was going to be working and we didn't know if school would even be open! How can that even be a sensible rule? Yes I'm still being charged even after them making me go in person to there gym and sign off on a membership cancellation that says I have to pay it (for future 3 months) or they keep charging me even after 3 months. It's ridiculous. Just a fair warning if you go down that path.

Karen:My 5-year old started going to this school back in April. After attending a free class for evaluation, he immediately enjoyed it and wanted to do it again.A lot of his friends go to other martial arts schools in the Bay Area, the rates here are higher than what my fellow parents are paying. $120/month for attending 3-4 times a week or $65/month for a once a week class. I am giving it a 5-star though because I feel like they do have a great program for my son's age group (3-1/2 to 6 years old). He looks forward to every class because his instructors are great. His favorite is Mr. Young. He teaches discipline and manners aside from the usual martial arts moves that the kids need to learn. He is also very engaging and funny but strict when the situation needs it to be.Their belt system is respectable. I've heard of other schools that will award black belts in a span of few weeks! I think that's ridiculous. I believe being a black belt is like getting a bachelor's degree. All the moves must come second nature to you before you graduate to that degree. But that could just be me and my high standards. Woah!I'm contemplating on taking their adult Muay Thai/Kickboxing classes and maybe update my review afterwards. But if you are a parent in the Tracy area looking for a Martial Arts school for you kids, I highly recommend that you check out this place. In the end, it's really where you kid would be happy so you're not wasting your hard earned money.

Four of my kids go here and attend this school. We'd just like to say thank you for having such a great program, having such a great crew and group, the hospitality, and the fact that you always give all of your students 100%; never leaving anyone out. We started about 3 years ago and since the beginning everyone has always been so welcoming. We knew of this place when one of the owners encouraged us from the start and made us feel so welcome.I can't wait for my younger son to get older so I can let him join this great facility!I hope to stick with this group for many years to come...

I love this place and can't wait for the new facility to be built later this year. The coaches are great, friendly and knowledgeable. My private Coach Tobi is great. He has Taekwondo, Muay Thai and karate background and is able to incorporate best things about each art into our lessons. I have also noticed their kids classes are very well run. Mr. Albracht and Tobi know how to organize and teach. I would definitely be rich going my kid to this place if we still lived in Tracy. Highly recommend this place.

Had our son in this academy for 1.5 years, which honestly was about a mediocre experience. Spent ALOT of money on gear plus the $126 monthly fee. Once we decided withdraw him, they continued to charge us $126 per month. They claimed there was no way to stop the billing, and this is "just the way it is". The only exception would be if you have a doctor's note (really??). Ok.... so we went and got a doctor's note, handed it in to stop the monthly billing. Now here we are, 3 months later and they are still charging my VISA card $126 per month. That's nearly $400 that they charged us for NO SERVICES. These people don't give a crap about you... they are crooks. I can understand fees for 1 month after termination, but to keep taking my money 3 months after we have left??? Don't trust these people. Who runs a business this way??

American Top Team has amazing instructors/staff and they are very professional. I love the flexibility in the classes they offer. Instructors know each and every kid by name. I like the balanced approach of teaching where there is a right amount of strictness and some humor to keep the environment fun and keep the kids motivated. I actually feel like there is learning going on, and my kids are benefiting from it.

I feel it is neccessary to respond with an update. If you try this martial arts school and you are not happy with the results. They will charge you 3 months to leave. My son recived his black belt through a school that did not require a contract.. It took him 4 and a half years and he went 4 to 5 times a week. We found it easy to be commited for the long haul without a contract. Students that pay as they go have no less level of commitment than any other student. The contract guarantees this establishment a right to your hard earned money even when you are not happy with the result. Thats in the neighborhood of about 400 bucks you must pay to an establishment you may feel isn't up to your expectations. Contracts are not a win/win, they are a win/loss senario. To be fair most Martial Arts school require contract. In my opinion Martial arts has lost its reputation because of these types of tactics. We have moved to a new city and now my son isn't taking martial arts. Why? I wont sign a contract. I have him engaged in other sports and activities that are 25% the cost and require no contracts. It would be foolish for you to think I'm the only one who thinks this way.

My daughter has been going to TMAA for almost 3 years. The instruction is more than the art itself, but that of developing a good citizen and a good sport. Something that is seriously lacking in todays society. I am also a retired Marine and know a little about discipline, so with that being said, the amount of discipline coupled with constructive critisism is a recipe for success. Every Adult and Child are different and situations cannot be moulded to everyones delight. Mr. A has developed a great environment here and if you and your child put forth an open mind, good attitude, and a desire to better oneself, this Dojo will have you or your child flourish. I am very happy with this Dojo and the training my Daughter has received has made her both confident, able to protect herself, and most of all a better person.

I have trained with ATT/Traditional Martial Arts Academy for 5 years. I have nothing but good things to say about this gym! They have built my foundation as a fighter and as a human being navigating through life. Coach Shannon and Coach Gloria are like parents to me. They took me under their wing and taught me everything I had wished to learn. I wouldn't be where I am today without them and the community they have built. I am forever grateful for all the lessons they've taught me regarding martial arts which have translated into the real world. I can't recommend this academy enough. If you're a parent looking to enroll your children, or you yourself are looking to take lessons, you won't regret it. They are hands down the best gym in Tracy. I'm not speaking from any bias, I am speaking from experience. Without this gym and the people who have built it, I wouldn't be who I am today. Enrolling in their academy all those years ago was the best decision I ever made!
