If I could sum up Tr3s catering and their business ethics in a few words they would be: awful, horrible, disgusting, sad, shameful, embarrassing, horrific, hideous, repulsive, rude, and sickening. I booked my wedding and put a deposit down with Tr3s catering and Deer Ridge on November 19, 2010. A few months ago, Deer Ridge sold their property. Las Positas Vineyards are now the owners, who will not honor any wedding contracts past 9/10/11. My wedding was scheduled for August 18, 2012, which means Las Positias/Tr3s catering will not be honoring the contract I signed.Prior to Deer Ridge selling, Tr3s catering had 45 brides (including me) who had signed a contract and put their deposit down. I have asked SEVERAL times, over the past 3 months, for my deposit back, but I haven't seen a dime. Please note, my contract was between Deer Ridge and Tr3s catering, NOT Las Postias. Los Postias will be remodeling the entire facility - the barrel room will no longer be available, the bridal room will be turned into an office and the theme of the property will be a spanish theme. These are all modifications to my contract, which grants me the right to have my deposit back. I have spoken to Shawn, Rick Ring, and Lisa Meir regarding this situation, yet no one wants to step up to the plate. I sure hope all 44 other brides have been contacted. If those brides put down the same amount I did for their deposit - Rick Ring is sitting on over $100,000 dollars....(if he hasn't already spent it on the new restaurant in Santa Cruz that he is building). If you're a bride who is in the same boat - contact me - lets talk. Please also keep in mind that I have asked several times for my deposit back. I've sent e-mails, letters, and made many phone calls, but enough is enough - I want my deposit back. P.S. If I could have given ZERO stars, I would have - trust me. They are not worthy of any one's business.

We are having our wedding at Las Positas (formerly Deer Ridge) in June, Catered by TR3S. While information about the sale was slow in getting to us, to be fair, TR3S had to figure out what was going on as well. Lets just say that since we were informed about the change, Shawn has given us every opportunity to ask questions and has shown superior service. We feel very confident moving forward with our wedding in June. In fact, the winery is undergoing some upgrades which may in fact make the facility a little bit nicer.Understand, this sale had nothing to do with TR3S who had a good chance to lose a lot of money had the winery just folded. They have been working with the new owners and we have every reason to believe our wedding day will be just as special and maybe even a little bit better than we envisioned. Thanks Shawn and TR3S Catering. Marcel

We booked with tr3s catering for our wedding in May at Las Positas Winery, formally Deer Ridge Vineyards. Overall, we had a very challenging experience planning our event because of the many changes that occurred during our two year engagement. While Shawn Dobrich and Danielle Luce had no control over the events that occurred, they tried their hardest to make our wedding what we wanted it to be. Both spent many hours emailing/calling us to discuss the details. I appreciate that they were up against a lot during this process. Shawn certainly did what he could to make up for us not being able to have all the minor details that we had originally planned on, and he certainly deserves credit for being a caring and understandable coordinator. Given the opportunity to work with him in another capacity and under different circumstances, we would gladly work with him again. The day of our wedding the whole tr3s team that was present was outstanding. They kept an eye on my husband and I and provided us with anything and everything we needed throughout the day. If anything went wrong, we didn't know about it, and I think that says a lot. The food was delicious.Given that, the experience of planning our wedding under these circumstances left a bad taste in our mouths, but we feel like that had more to do with politics of the managers at tr3s and las positas winery, rather than the people on the front line that we dealt with directly.

We had our wedding July 17th 2010 at Deer Ridge Vineyards. 5 plus stars for Danielle Luce. Nothing but positive praises from me and my husband for her. She was awesome through all of the wedding planning, answered all my questions in an extremely timely manner, accommodated all my last minute needs, awesome awesome, gave her a big hug when I saw her at the rehearsal dinner, awesome during the whole wedding. Deer Ridge is an incredible venue, and the food was just awesome as well!!

TR3S Catering is the dedicated caterer for events at Deer Ridge Vineyards, where the man & I got married 5/1/10. We had such a wonderful wedding day at the winery, and I have to give a shout-out to Danielle Luce of TR3S. She is professional, very responsive (refreshing!), and always had good suggestions while planning the Big Day. Everyone raved about the food, and nobody went hungry! The food is tasty and generous in portion size, a good value. Just to give you an idea of the food-- 2 of our fave apps for the outdoor cocktail hour were tuna tartare in crispy wonton cups with mango and avocado, and these little crispy potato treats that are like a gourment potato skin, or twice-baked potato, with creme fraiche, green onion and bacon. Delicious! The Deer Ridge wines are quite good as well. I would recommend Deer Ridge and TR3S to anyone looking to plan a special event.

In December TR3S Catering, along with DeerRidge Winery caterered my daughters wedding. while the Winery looked beautiful the service was horrible from both DeerRidge and TR3S. Shawn was the evnt manager and he had recently taken over for Danielle, who no longer works for TR3S, Shawn seemed completely overwhelmed. We paid about $100.00 per person and i am sure the service at McDonalds is better. There were too many things wrong to list in this small box. I did write a letter to DeerRidge along with TR3S Catering and their owner Pasta's Restaurant in Pleasanton, i wrote this letter December 14th and have never heard from any of them. I wasnt going to put a review on Yelp, I was hoping someone would have read my letter and addressed my concerns. This was my daughters biggest day and they made serveral parts of it very disappointing. I worked so hard to save money to make my daughters wedding day so special and they did NOTHING to help. Please dont waste your money or your daughters special day by using TR3S Catering, Pasta's Restaurant or DeerRidge Winery.

I wouldn't even give them one star, but you have to give them something to post a review. Buyer beware... "Owner" is opening a new restaurant in Santa Cruz, yet refuses to give refunds to the 40 plus Brides who have given them rather large deposits for their Weddings. I wonder where everyone's money went, I am going to guess to building permits, alcohol licenses and construction in Santa Cruz. But I digress.. We have asked over and over for refunds to no avail. I have a feeling the "owner" will be spending a lot of time in court, as a few Brides have already began the process. How can you take money from couples, knowing that the facility was for sale, and that you had no intentions of catering their event? If you are a Bride who is in limbo, please feel free to contact me. I am offering to help out any Bride who is in "contract" with TR3S Catering and Deer Ridge find a new venue and make this situation right. This should be the happiest time of your life, not a stressful time.

Please note, I am not a bride-to-be, but I am the maid of honor and I have seen this entire process unravel. My best friend booked her wedding with Deer Ridge and Tr3s Catering. She signed the contract and put a deposit down, to later find out Deer Ridge sold it's property. Knowing that everything was about to change, she e-mailed/called Shawn and Rick several times to get answers. It's now been 2 months and we have heard nothing. Please also understand - my friend found out deer ridge was selling because of the general newsletter that DEER RIDGE sent out stating they were having a garage sale because they were "moving". Tr3s Catering didn't even have the audacity to inform his clients of the sale. The owner of the Deer Ridge property (now Las Positas Vineyards) are changing a lot to the venue - including the bridal suite, barrel room, and the decoration. It is now the beginning of wedding season 2011, and I hope by now all 45 brides have been made aware of what is going on. A few brides just recently contacted my friend and their wedding is this july and september of 2011, and they are jut now finding out about it. It's a shame. After reading the other comments on this page, I think it's only fair that these brides get their deposit back, so they can move on. And yes, just like the other comments - I wouldn't have given this company any stars, but I had too. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

Beware! Brides with weddings planned early in 2011 need to contact TR3S. The new owners are going to remodel the place and won't be finished until later in the year! Good luck having a wedding where there is construction going on! TR3S doesn't seem to have notified anyone so you need to be proactive...contact them to see if your wedding date is still OK and don't trust what they tell you -- check with Los Positas winery off greenville rd- they are the new owners!!!!

I could not rave more about Tr3s catering, Danielle and Shawn! For my wedding 6/26/10 we wanted something a little different...a "tapas" style wedding...from the moment I posed the idea Shawn and Danielle ran with it! They were so enthusiastic about the menu and presentation. Our food tasting was so delicious that I CRAVED our food up until the wedding (who can say that about wedding food, really?) Danielle was available and professional and had everything under control. Shawn was so great to work with..he had ideas that I never thought of that truly made the menu and night. PLUS...they worked with our pretty small budget without sacrificing quality. I could go on forever about Tr3s...combine Tr3s with the amazingly beautiful Deer Ridge and you will have an incredible wedding...we did!
