TowBoatUS San Francisco Bay & Delta

Well I don't do this much but really have to give a shout (Yelp?) out to Phil and his crew at Vessel Assist San Francisco. I watched them in action recently and was impressed by the quality of their boats and how quickly they answered their cellphones. They also had VHF 14 on all the time as well as a scanner, and when they did get a call were on it pronto!Highly recommend their services, you want to keep their number handy just in case when you are out on the water.

Our motor failed at Big Break on the way to Bethel Island. They were fast to respond and efficiently and quickly got us back to our marina

If I am leaving this review in the wrong place, please let me know, this is a review for BOATUS / TowboatUS. We took our boat out on Sunday 4/23 on the Sacramento River. A little before dusk, something broke in the shifting system, and we were disabled. We were about 10 miles upriver from where we put in. TowBoatUS was unable to offer any assistance at all, and told us we should call 911! I don't think this is a good use of taxpayer dollars, especially considering we own a policy that is supposed to cover us in these situations. Thankfully, we were able to flag down 2 young men on Sea Doos who were able to take us to the nearest launch ramp, from there we had to get an Uber back to Discovery Park to pick up our trailer while my son stayed with the boat at Elkhorn Launch Ramp, This was a very upsetting situation for me and my family. Fast forward to yesterday, 4/26, my son went boating with his friend on Folsom Lake. The boat broke down about 5 miles from the dock. His friend also has the TowBoatUS policy, and they called and were told that help would not be provided! They were finally able to get a tow from the State Parks Department, but they did not arrive back at the launch ramp until 11 PM. So, I am curious, if we boat mainly in the Sacramento area rivers and lakes (Folsom, Berryessa), is this policy useless and a waste of money? It sure seems like it!!

My sailboat engine overheated and needed a tow in. Called TowBoatUS (I am a member) and they were at my boat within the hour. The skipper was quite skilled and we weee back at my slip without any problems. Glad I am a member. It's good to have competent help when you need it.

Hahah! Never have I ever thought I would need a tow... for a boat! But gosh darn it.. we did! A funny and memorable time with family. The captain was the nicest guy and reassured us on a safe trip home. I was like, "I hope so!" They arrived fairly quickly, considering the distance from the dock.. it was getting dark and fast.. so a few locals stayed with us until the tow arrived! Just a very kind and generous town. Sacramento River / San Joaquin -- Sugar Barge will always have a special place in my heart! Boy, will it ever..

If I could give 10 stars I would. Literally never been so quick to leave a review. My husband and I were in need of a tow and we used our insurance company who dispatched TowBoatUS. Tommy and John came. They were the kindest, most helpful and professional people. We were stranded at a neighbors dock and were trying to get to the marina to get our boat on the trailer and out of the water. They came SO quick. I've never had a tow company boat or car respond so quickly. They came and grabbed the boat and said meet us at the marina, which we did. Not only did they help us get it there but helped us get our disabled boat on the trailer. We are newer boaters and they were so patient with us. I will refer them over and over. What a great experience Tommy and John! Thank you!

These guys were awesome. My motor seized up on me and I was stranded on the SF Bay. Used the app on my phone to request a tow as well as calling him on the VHF. Got a phone call on my cell immediately and the captain gave me his ETA. Customer service was 10/10, overall a really nice guy that knows what he is doing.

This company, their service, their equipment, their response time, their crew are amazing. Best money I've ever spent! I've had the fortunate (unfortunate) pleasure of using this company 3 times now out on the bay for various reasons. Phil has come to my rescue twice and has me safe and sound and laughing in no time! These guys are the best! I use my boat in the ocean a great deal so having a tow service is a necessity. After a recent engine rebuild I found myself in need of there service when my engine failed outside the golden gate. I contacted them immediately and they said captain would call me with updates on his eta due to being on tow currently. I was able to use my kicker motor to get inside point bonita and wait for them there. Big outgoing tide and didnt want to try and fight my way back in with just my kicker. Just as I was told the captain called and said he would be to us in 45minutes. He called for a gps update of our location and arrived shortly there after. Only down side was we got into a halibut bite and put 3 in the box and didn't want to leave when he arrived. Oh well I guess that was the silver lining to being towed in that day.These guys don't just tow you in they also take great care to get you back to the dock safe and sound. I have had a few tows and each was handled professionally and the captain always communicated is eta. This service is well worth the yearly membership and is a must have for any responsible offshore mariner. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!
