Our NEW LIVING ROOM RUG was delivered today and "WE ARE BEYOND PLEASED" This addition really makes the room. We can't wait to see our Coffee Table when it arrives in a few weeks. Anybody can be a INTERIOR DESIGNER when you shop at the Thornton House

My wife and I have bought about $13K worth of furniture at TH when we lived in Lodi not too long ago. Bedroom sets, full living room (couch, chairs, end tables, media center, etc) and a den/office. So when we were in Lodi in late June we rolled into TH looking to replace a loveseat. It was a warm Friday afternoon and we both had taken the day off so we were dressed very casually. I was in camo shorts and a t-shirt, wife was in shorts & a tank top. We're in our late 40's and white. So we enter the store and start walking around looking at couches/loveseats. An older woman finally addresses us and asks if she can help. I tell her what were looking for and how we've made multiple purchases here before. Then she tries to pre-qualify us (find out how much we want to spend.) I tell her price is not an issue but we want a quality leather love seat. She looks me up and down and tells me, "Well, I don't think we're going to have anything for you. You're too tall and too big."I was flabbergasted. Yes, I'm 6-3 and 270, but really? I followed up with, "Really, I've never had an issue finding something that is comfortable here before. I've had Barqalounger chairs, and Flexsteel couches, are they making then smaller now? I'd think they'd be making bigger stuff since the population is getting taller & bigger." She proceeds to have me try a small recliner which I don't bite on. I explained that our existing furniture is bigger as our great room is large so something of this size would look out of place.She drug us to the far back right corner of the store and had me try a couch saying it was her biggest couch and that it is offered in the love seat size. OK, not bad I tell her and she say's, "But it's not available in leather." I looked her puzzeled, "Then why did you show me this unit?" She then tells us that how we sounld mix in a fabric piece. My wife is about to snap and calmly says, "Well, I have plenty of fabric in the room. Our other couch is leather and we want leather."I cut her off and said, "Well "wife" I guess she doesn't want our business. Let's go." I grab her hand and we walk out with her following behind saying "I can show you items in our catalogs." I turn around at the front door and blasted her. "Well, by the way you looked us up & down when we came in it was obvious you don't think we can afford furniture here. You've done nothing to help us, and now you want me to look in a catalog? No thanks." We will never set foot in that store again. FWIW, we did go into Minerva's. The 30ish girl there was super helpful but the prices were higher than other places we had looked at in Elk Grove, where we ended up with a great FlexSteel Power Reclining Love Seat.

What does "Merchandising Relinquishment" mean? Another phrase for "Going Out of Business"? Or "Bankruptcy"?Whatever... it's a 60% off Sale promoted by Thornton House with all these signs plastering the surrounding roads ( http://static1.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/T8OTXJ38EkBU-3Ef7IB_sg/l ) this past weekend.I hope Thornton House cleans up their mess after the "Merchandising Relinquishment"...

Great place to find good quality furniture. Comfy too!I am terrible at design, I love the room layouts. Very helpful in choosing just the right colors and accessories.

Furniture is gorgeous, but their customer service could be improved by leaps and bounds. I was promised my furniture by the sales rep within 3-4 weeks for delivery. It's still not here, it's been a month plus or minus a couple of days. I've called twice (today - February 9th and the rude woman on the phone told me the only other time I've called was on January 28th, which honestly is not that unreasonable to check to see if/when my furniture has arrived for them to deliver to my house)to check in on my furniture but the lady on the phone has been insanely rude to me each time. I did not spend a few thousand dollars just to be met with rude/lack of customer service. If they think I'm wrong on the delivery date? Then correcting me politely instead of a snappy comeback is completely uncalled for. All I want is my master bedroom set and an accurate estimate of when my furniture will be here so I can sleep comfortably on my new mattress in my new home. The fact that Premier Furniture in Stockton - where I purchased a gorgeously comfy set of couches for cheaper, had incredibly better sevice, and actually arrived at my home earlier than anticipated makes me wish that I had gone with them for my master bedroom set. Luckily I have another bed, else I'd be sleeping on the floor or the couch all the time. I don't appreciate calling for a check, and to be met with extreme rudeness. It's very unprofessional.

Don't waste your time here way overpriced even with 60% off it's ridiculous! It's no wonder there is never any customers shopping here because the old lady that "helped" us yesterday was so rude I would never come back to this place.

This is a funny story so hold on to your hat! I had a birthday back in December, the 29th to be exact. I've had several friends call, fb, and email me so they could take me to various and sundry meals.....I am blessed to have awesome friends, really. So, this Sunday I went with my long time buds Lor and Betty....we ate at The Dancing Fox, which I love, love. Everytime we're in Lodi, we always stop at Thornton House to browse. It's low key and no high pressure sales tactics, just friendly folks that don't harass you and are happy to help when you need it.Well, my Bob has this huge chair that we've had in our LR for like 18 years and I've fantasized about blowing it up, doing an "Office Space" gangsta like bashing of it and many other day dreams. When we walked in, it was as if angels sang and a chorus joined as I viewed this floor model recliner with nail head detailing-and half off.....sold. Not to mention the fact that we had champagne with lunch so, I was more than happy to part with some of our hard earned cash!Fast forward to the end of the story.....Bob loves his new chair.....that's all you need to know!

Walked in to the store ( I'm mexican) and they automatically brought up Donald Trump ( who has been in the news for mexican discrimination). Right away I thought they might ask if I needed help or allowed me to look for after minutes but instead started siding with Donald Trump. I was prepared to spend $3,000 on a leather chair but instead will buy one online because they assumed I couldn't afford one. I am an educated individual and don't see color so I was mildly offended but we can't responsible for others behavior! Lodi still carries the stigma for others behavior. I'm sorry, Lodi.

The BEST! If you want beautiful, well constructed furniture this is the place to go. Other stores may have lower prices but the quality of their items don't compare with Thornton House. Al, helped us with fabric selection and as well as furniture selections. Can't go wrong with his expert advice.

I just got a couch and loveseat from Thornton House.I love it! From the day of purchase through delivery was a good experience! I have not one negative thing to say. I hope Thornton House continues to be a source of quality furniture and service .
