My husband wanted to surprise me with an hour massage for our anniversary. He figured Lincoln Center would be high end for the Stockton area. I have been to numerous places in the past to get my pampering such as higher priced Watercourse Way in Palo Alto and to lower priced Holiday Spa in Castro Valley. I've always had great experiences in Zen type atmospheres leaving relaxed and satisfied. Anyway, he purchased a gift certificate from Vivian @Therapeutic Massage based on her location and her review on Yelp.Lets start with the positives: Vivian is a very nice woman with a great personality. She takes her time to ask questions about your body so she can pinpoint your trouble areas. She has a medical form to fill out so she can better understand your needs. The other two reviewers obviously had good experiences with her. When my husband purchased my gift certificate, a gentleman just finished a session with her, commented that she is good at her job. So that's three happy customers. Now the negatives: As soon as I walked in the dated office with no spa-like ambience, I knew we were not a match but since my hubby already paid I had no choice but to give her a chance. I was going to make the best of my visit and stay positive.She was unprepared for our session and a bit flustered. She didn't sleep well the night before and was extremely stressed about her personal issues. Her cd player was not working which she said happens quite often and so the lack of music or any type of relaxing ambience made it even more uncomfortable. Her massage room felt like a doctor's office and I did not feel relaxed. I attempted to close my eyes and allow her to pull my legs and push on pressure points which was just "OK". Then I basically rambled on getting her to engage in conversation hoping for time to pass while I anxiously watched the clock. I did not physically feel any better before I arrived and felt my hubby wasted $75. I understand we don't always fit with a body worker and that she is human with bad days and personal issues. You will have decide this one on your own :)

Well, I have seriously jacked up my back and Vivian is helping me fix it. Vivian was highly recommended by a friend of mine who sees her regularly. Since my back had been sending shooting pains through my body for the past three weeks I thought I would give her a try. She was able to fit me in and boy am I glad she did.Vivian is highly professional and her clean and lovely office is in Lincoln Center. We discussed my symptoms and then she had me get on the table. She said "I am going to go for what I think is the problem". She put her hand on EXACTLY the spot on my back that was hurting the most and worked it until it unclenched. I call her the "muscle whisperer". The massage was awesome and very therapeutic. Four days later and my back has stopped cramping. I think a few more sessions with her and I will be able to move like the graceful flower that I am. Amazing work and if you need someone who knows what they are doing I would give her a try.
