I was born and raised in Stockton and the Miracle Mile has always been one of my favorite spots in town until the last few years. While there are still several great businesses like Grand Line Barbershop, Manny's CA Fresh and House of Shaw right off the Mile, it has also become home to many businesses that to me don't fit the vibe. The burned down Royal has been an eyesore and while it has finally been demolished, it stands vacant just inviting homeless to hang out there. I do enjoy the events that are held here like the monthly car show and I am hopeful that in the future more will be done do restore this once cool area of town.

I had an opportunity to walk the miracle mile, twice, as I was taking in all of what Stockton had to offer, so I guess I ventured a couple miracle miles. This place is filled with little shops, restaurants, markets, and plenty of sunshine. There is street parking, metered, but also off street parking lots which you can stay in up to three hours; quite nice. Definitely not a perk we take advantage of in The City, oh and did I mention it's FREE! As I strolled up and down the Miracle Mile armed with an iced soy latte in hand, I was amazed at how the theme of the miracle mile reminds me of the mom and pop stores of old have all lined up and kept their business going. It's a good layout of mixed commercial residential space, plenty of places for you to enjoy some outdoor seating while you stroll up and down the mile, and tons of little eateries for you to enjoy while you partake in all the stores. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, I will definitely be back to walk the mile again and visit places I didn't get to the first time around.

This place could use a little more action. I don't live in Stockton anymore, but I remember walking along the Miracle Mile with friends and feeling as though the only thing it was missing were the people. It just needs to have a couple more festivals, a couple more half-off happy hour specials, more rallies, more protests, more processions. And I'm not saying these things just spring up, it takes effort. And so I was partially to blame for not trying to organize anything. But what is the difference between this area and say, Shattuck square in Berkeley? Besides the Tibetan stores. Just the people.

Like an oasis in the middle of the hottest desert, it's a miracle Miracle Mile exists in Stockton. Amidst what Forbes calls the most miserable city in America, Miracle Mile provides Stockton with a comfortable, quaint location full of dining options and other uncommon shops. Miracle Mile is a great place to visit whether you're taking a casual stroll or in the market for something specific.

The Miracle Mile is a microcosm of what Stockton has to offer all in a few blocks.I used to visit the Mile all the time years ago when the Stockton Royal movie theater was still showing movies. Parking was horrible, but what city is parking a breeze in? I have fond memories of going shopping with my grandmother here on the Mile...there was a dime-type store right in the middle (I dont remember the name) and she loved shopping at the other end at what was Lucky's Supermarket at the time. These days they have redone the parking somewhat to accommodate pedestrian customers and have added some nice new restaurants and places to get coffee and such. (Like how Java Aroma is now in the Stockton Royal) Baskin Robbins is still around and there is even a Round Table if you want some decent chain store pizza. But once again this is Stockton and even the best efforts to bring a little culture and diversity into the town is always hard...you have to please everyone and this area isn't exactly the center of town anymore like back in its heyday. And you always have to worry about the crime at some point as well. I guess in total the city has gone a long way towards making the Miracle Mile a destination in Stockton rather than a place you drive through trying to get to UOP.:0)

An area of Pacific Avenue in Stockton, CA that is pro-culture, pro-community awareness, and pro-coolness...I have a lot of favorite stops here. I feel very comfortable on the Mile, as if this is the way Stockton was really meant to be. Down-to-earth, while concurrent with modern trends, it remains rooted & loyal to the people who make this community. Most of these businesses are family owned and opperated. Here are my favorite places on the MIRACLE MILE:-Stockton Royal Theater/ Java Aroma-Psychadelicacies*-Pacifica Pizza*-Playground behind the old Lucky's (now S-Mart)-Baskin Robbins-Old Starbucks gawfee*-The shoe repair shop behind Sam's Cafe-Sam's Cafe-Valley Brew-Gian's Deli-Manny's-Casa Flores-K.S. Tailoring-That art gallery across from the theater*Restaurants not actually part of Miracle Mile (although in my denying heart, they still are. Thanx Weldon C. for the undeniable correction. {heart a little broken by the news}Here's MM's website:http://stocktonmiraclemile.com/html/history.htm
