The Last Gun Shop

I have lived in town my whole like. Sweeney's is a great place for fishing. But the last gun shop inside the store is tiny. Here is my advice. Checkout Sportsman's warehouse in Fairfield. They have everything from camping to firearms. The staff there is very knowledgeable and friendly.

The Last Gun Shop is a firearm shop that neighbors with an outdoor shop, named Sweeney's. It is one of the gun shops in Napa Valley that has a good selection on high end firearms.Pros:-Selection of high-end firearms and accessories. Every time I went there, I always drooled (not literally) over some firearm or firearm accessory they had for sale there. They had Kimber, Benelli, Nighthawk Custom, Springfield Armory, Surefire, American Security, ect.-Quality of customer service. The crew at the Last Gun Shop was very helpful to me, once I got to know them. I have done transfers there and purchased an excellent gun safe from them. The delivery and handling of the safe went very well, when the right one was delivered.-Helpful staff; each person working there had their own specialty. Some had excellent experience with knives, some with hunting and varmint guns, and some with tactical weapons. Cons:-Price; unfortunately, this was not always the case. The prices of their guns were close to MSRP. My friends and I used to become more frequent customers when competitive pricing was available. Not sure if it still the case or not. -Availability of inventory-Policies; I used to be able to transfer OLLs from this place, but was informed that this may be the last time I could transfer an OLL from the shop. This happened during a time when a certain individual stopped working there. I wonder if it was related. Overall, this shop has some high-end firearm and accessories, but lacks in inventory and competitive pricing. Consistent store policies regarding transfer of OLLs would be helpful also.

Dude- I totally thought I'd be the first to review this place! I wasn't sure how many gun lovers would be active on Yelp. Sigh...My boyfriend is from Alaska and was raised around guns. However, in my little bubble called "Piedmont, CA," guns were for police officers, gangsters, and Midwestern hicks. There's something scary about a gun when you grow up near Berkeley... it's not the environment that fosters a love of hunting and the "right to bear arms."But now, after some life experience, I've learned you can be a decent, politically liberal, kind, non-police officer and still own a gun. Hunting isn't exactly the most warm and fuzzy sport, but it seems like a lot of fun. This year, my dad's joining the Alaskan crew to go duck hunting and he needed a shotgun. We found a great one here. Since I'm not a gun expert (correction: I know NOTHING), I can't speak about the prices or selection. Nevertheless, my boyfriend seemed to like the place and he's a very competent gun user. Also, the guy working there was really nice and helpful. LOVE the name of this gun shop, btw. It's pretty true -as far as the Bay Area goes!

This shop was strongly recommended to me by a friend. I decided to buy a shotgun from them. Things were going ok at first. In fact, if I had only been helped by the first guy I probably would have given them three or four stars. There was an issue with the address on my ID. I recently moved so my address does not match my ID. I was told that this was not a problem. I just needed to bring in a copy of my PG&E bill.My PG&E bill does not have my service address on it so they guys at the shop told me I needed to go online to the PG&E website and print out an invoice. However, when I did that the invoice did not have my name on it. It had my account number and service address, but not my name.One guy told me I could not use my dsl bill and another guy said I could.Now, PG&E does not have a link called "the piece of paper that the guy at the shop has in his head." I called the shop to try to figure out what I needed. I was told that they could only accept a single document. So, I thanked them, hung up, and kept digging on the PG&E site until I found something called a payment verification letter which had all the information they wanted at the shop.I brought the document in to pick up my shotgun and the guy behind the counter went on and on about how this was not THE document. As if I could read his mind and know what THE document is. Again, PG&E does not offer a link to THE document that some guy has in his head at some gun shop.Finally, after he had gone on and on about how the document I brought in was not identical to the one in his imagination he admitted that what I had brought him would work just fine!!!! So he was just being a jerk.I will return to this shop when they are in fact the last gun shop. They might be knowledgeable, but the only good that seems to do is make the shop keeper feel superior because they sure aren't willing to share their knowledge. For example: I have been interested in getting into reloading. I am just learning so I have to ask questions. I was able to find a lot of the gear online. But, not primers. I asked if they had small pistol primers. The guy says, "only magnums." So I ask him what the difference is. He says, "small pistol and small pistol magnum." At this point I am looking at the guy like he's stupid. Does he actually think that sounded like an answer to the question?Then with an obvious look of frustration he says, "most guys that come in here already know what their doing." So I explain that I am just learning and I don't know what I'm doing. So he says, "most guys come in here acting like they know everything when they don't know sh*t."So which is it? Do most guys already know what they are doing? Or, are most guys full of sh*t? Can't really be both. Furthermore, why do I have to hear all this vitriol. All I wanted to know was if there were primers in stock that I can use. If I insulted him in some way, I have no idea how. He certainly acted discussed with me.Either way, I was trying to get information from the experts. Apparently The Last Gun Shop employees (the jerk in particular) are more interested in inflating their own egos than helping a customer. If I want to be abused there are plenty of places I can go. If I want help from knowledgeable helpful staff, this is The Last Gun Shop I will return to. I simply expect to be treated better by a business when I make a several hundred dollar purchase from them.This review is of The Last Gun Shop. Not, Sweeney's. Both under the same roof.Actually, it's a little disappointing because I was thinking about getting into Bow Hunting and the staff at Sweeney's seemed pretty cool and knowledgeable/ helpful. Now, I'm not sure if I want to go back. I don't live in Napa.I actually drove over an hour each way, three times, to the shop because my friend recommended them so highly. My advice if you live in Napa is enjoy Sweeney's. Go to another gunshop. If you can't get to another shop, find a nice firearm online and have them ship it to the shop to pick it up. At least that way you can limit your exposure to the abuse.

The owner has a major cranky, uptight attitude but their the only game in town really.

Obviously, a relatively small gun shop in Napa is not likely to have the inventory of a Bass Pro Shop or Cabela's. However, the knowledge and experience of the staff at The Last Gun Shop make shopping there a pleasure. The prices are not the lowest, but they are reasonable. I bought some night sights priced within $5 of the lowest internet price I found and got expert installation to boot. In a world of increasingly poor customer service, it's a pleasure to do business with a shop that does things right.

My first time in, I received excellent customer service. Eric ( I believe is his name) the gunsmith (and comedian) is a very helpful and knowledgeable. Next time I am in the area I will def stop in. I was on a pistol part hunt and did not have time to peruse the whole shop but if you like firearms or fishing rods, they most likely have what you want.
