The House of Pita

This local small business is new to Stockton's downtown waterfront area. Parking is a little far and if you or someone in your party has difficulty or challenges with walking further distances this unfortunately will not be the best option for you. With that being said it appears to be Ed a husband wife team working this establishment. The service from the server was excellent! She was very attentive without being intrusive, perfect balance! The food was amazing and it was cooked fresh. Love made to order plates/dishes as food is piping hot and tastes better. Check out my photos! The only reason neither pasta dish could score a perfect 10 is because I feel that they need to add a little more pasta to the dishes. There is plenty of sauce and pasta is so cheap seems logical to add a bit more to increase the overall portion size of the meal. That being said the Mediterranean pasta dish I took off an additional half point because I feel strongly that the grilled chicken served atop the pasta with sauce. Mixed in would be my suggestion!Please go and support this small business!

I was really hoping to enjoy coming here, but unfortunately the service was incredibly slow. We came in Friday night and there was only 1 table seated of 3 people so we were able to sit right down. They have about 8 seats at the bar, 4 booths and 3 tables.The server was very nice and friendly and quickly brought us menus and took our drink order. They do have a cocktail menu and full bar.We ordered the salmon plate ($37) which consists of a piece of salmon, some veggies and we changed the mashed potatoes to rice. The flavor was OK but $37 is high. I understand the cost of doing business has gone up, but this is not worth the price.I ordered the pita bowl ($18) which is rice, lettuce, red onions, tomatoes and cheese. You can choose falafel, chicken or beef. I had the falafal and they were good, not dry. The add a tzatziki sauce on top. I did enjoy by bowl, the flavors were good.After we had ordered another couple arrived to sit at the bar. The table of 3 was served their food and the couple arriving after us got their appetizers. Still we had nothing. After 50 minutes our food arrived. I can not imagine how long you would have to wait if the restaurant was busy, but for only a couple people before us, a 50 minute wait is too long.We had 1 cocktail and I had iced tea. It was $80 not including tip. For me not worth the money or the incredibly long wait.FYI, the restroom is upstairs and you have to ask for a key

Picked up a food order to go...waited nearly 15 min not including the 10 min it took to get there! Ordered a chicken Sharma, the pita was not authentic it was torn out of a bag and warmed on grill, the curly fries were frozen which was typical.The pita did not hold it fell apart while eating! It was 22$ I don't mind paying money for food but it really needs to be good. Not sure I will go again

Wanted to try this place when I heard about it and yes those lamb chops are the best I have tasted. Friendly and gracious hostess accommodated me and my dog to the patio(how cool is that). Great view of the marina and a cozy ambiance. Will come back again!

Formerly, Sugar Mediterranean Bistro at Trinity Parkway, is now The House of Pita at the Waterfront in downtown Stockton near Nena's. The ambiance was nice sitting out on the patio deck near the water and the food was as good as I remember. They don't have my favorite beef kabob anymore, but everything on the menu sounded delicious, it was hard to decide. We started with the potato skins... yummy! My nieces tried the pasta dishes and pita bowl while I tried the pistachio crusted salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans. The sauce for the salmon was so good and creamy, the owner even brought me a little extra on the side which I dipped the pita bread in. This is a nice place for date night. It's a little pricey for a family with kids and there was no kid menu, but we still enjoyed the food and had wonderful service by the owner. She said they're having a grand opening on Thursday, 9/19/24 at 5pm.

This was a gem and we're so glad we stopped. I didn't expect much in Stockton but the view of the waterfront was gorgeous, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Three generations all lived our food and enjoyed the experience. We had the chicken Marsala, seafood pasta, and gyro plate. The green beans and carrots were crispy and delicious. Even the rice pilaf was so flavorful and that's not usually my go to. Highly recommend!

It was our first time here and everything was great! Excellent food, drinks, and service!!! We came in during happy hour and ordered the hummus appetizer and the horataki salad, along with a blackberry fruit spritzer and a Chile Fresca drink. Everything was fresh and delicious. Portions are large as well. We will definitely be coming back and bringing friends and family with us!

Amazing food and service! It was my first visit, service was prompt and they were very attentive. Definitely going to explore more of the menu on the next visit! Support our local businesses!
