Tacos El Ahijado

I believe the owner gave us free chips and salsa while waiting for our burrito which was a generous offer. Order taking service was ok. I got a super burrito paid $14 and it was very small. I know it's a new business and we love their salsa, so we will give them another chance in a few months once they are established.

Tried the new local place last night and it was pretty good! Husband had crispy tacos which looked so delicious, his favorite was the pork. Daughter had regular tacos and her favorite was the asada. Other daughter had carne asada fries, which was a ton of fries, meat and sour cream. Would have been nice to include some guacamole. I had the carnitas plate which is what I judge every Mexican restaurant by and they were pretty good. Crispy and not a ton of fat and they came with 4 tortillas, rice and beans which was plenty of food. The prices are a bit high, but I think that's just life these days. I did enjoy the salsa bar, lots of different choices. Plus, table chips and salsa is always appreciated. We will definitely be back!

So far so good. Inside is cute and has a nice bar. Got a breakfast burrito, asada super burrito and two street tacos. Everything delish, if you can't handle spicy you better let them know when you order though.

Delicious vegetarian burrito! So glad this new place has opened up. The dining room is tiny: only seats 24 people comfortably even though the sign on the wall says maximum capacity 42. They would be squeezed in like sardines, for sure. But I predict that this place is going to be so popular that they will definitely have to expand. We'll be back to try the enchiladas next time!!

My husband and I moved from the Bay Area and it's hard to find good taco places out in Elk Grove. On our drive we found the taco truck for Tacos El Ahijado on Twin Cities Rd years ago. Their tacos are some of the best. Taco truck would close at 5 but often times they have taken our order even if we arrive right at or after 5. Customer service has always been excellent no matter who is working. Now I find out that the restaurant has opened right in the same location as the truck parks. We checked it out and the place is small but clean and it works. Plenty of seating. Sign said it fits 42? Seating at the bar too. Tables with chairs and booths. Nice music, not too loud. They have a self serve salsa bar and we were given free chips. Food is as good in the restaurant as it is in the taco truck. Asada tacos are $3 each and I also got an horchata for $3. Tacos are authentic street tacos and come with onions, cilantro, and salsa. Garnish on the side of radish and lime. Restaurant is open every day 8 am to 9 pm and they take cards too. Taco truck is open till 5 pm and they close on Sundays. They take cash only. And I don't remember them offering chips. Either way highly recommend both. Have yet to have a bad experience or long wait. Forgot to take pictures of tacos because I was hungry and I devoured them.

Tried to support a new local restaurant, but they couldn't have cared less. At first, the counter person was friendly, and we placed our order, got our number, and waited. About 15-20 minutes later, only half our food came out. We waited another 10 minutes--nothing.When I finally went to check, the staff looked completely lost. They even asked for a receipt (which we didn't take because we had a number) and then blamed their ticket system. At one point, they even asked me to go to the back to look at the unprinted ticket--what would I even see? Exactly. Nothing.If I hadn't spoken up, they never would have said a word. No apology, no urgency--just a mess. Plenty of other restaurants out there that actually care about their customers. Won't be back.

The tacos on the truck are delicious. The food inside was garbage will never go back or Carnitas. It was basically boiled pork with fat in it really bad.

New restaurant is Absolute trash. Overpriced and disgusting, could not finish my meal. Served cold, crunchy chewy nasty meat in carne asada tacos. Don't waste your time or money, so many better options. Plus 14$ for a bean burrito???? Come on. Eat anywhere else, I wouldn't come back even if it was free.

The tacos are delicious! I ordered a chicken and carne asada tacos with salsa on the side. I highly recommend them.
