Sutter Landing Dog Park
Clean and wide open park. Best on cool days
Benches to sit and drink a cold brew
Jabronis drinking alcohol and smoking weed in the park.
Lots of sitting spots
Big dog park
Water fountain for the pups
Park rules!
Weed smoking with one guy trying to cover the other. But did a terrible job of it
What a beautiful day it is at this dog park.
Water!
The view of the river next to the dog park
Running!

Tried out this dog park since it was the middle of me and some friends. I would not prefer going to this park if I had the choice... I do love seeing the regulars come and chat with each other. They were all very welcoming but I really dislike the park overall. It is a bunch of dead grass, weeds, sand, and dirt.. I had to pull out grass burrs or "burr weeds" out of my dogs paws when we first got there and when we left as well. Not a ton of shade too so I would avoid coming on a sunny and hot day.

Nope never again !Was trying this park out for the first time to only be there for a good 5-7mins before I realized...Owners pay little to no attention to their dogs. There is more dogs than owners. And my dog was "roughed house played with Aka attacked the whole time. Now call me bougie, but that's gonna be a no for us !

We were driving into Sacramento to spend the night after being on the road for about 10 hours with our two dogs. Our mastiff puppy, who is almost one year old, had refused to go to the bathroom at any of pitstops along the drive so we thought that maybe she'd go at a dog park. I googled and yelped dog parks along the route to our hotel but wasn't familiar with any of the areas. The first one I found ended up looking sketchy so we decided to try this one instead. We were pleased that it looked to be in a better part of town and had large areas for both big and small dogs. Since we have a 90+ pound mastiff puppy and a 16 pound pug who thinks she's a big dog, we decided that the big dog park would be a better fit for us. Our pug has grown up with a mastiff by her side practically her whole life (she was best friends with our first mastiff who we lost to cancer last year for 8.5 years) so she's not concerned about the size of any dog and can take care of herself. Both dogs had a great time exploring and checking out the other local dogs. We only witnessed one incident of a somewhat aggressive dog but it was across the park from us and I'm not sure what the whole situation was but it seemed to have been resolved quickly. There's also little stickers that can get stuck in the dogs' paws so you may want to keep an eye out. I saw a dog lift its paw for help a couple of times while we were there. One word of warning if you're coming near sunset. The entrance to the park can be blinding with the sun glaring right into the windshield. We had to slow down and squint to find the entrance and another person ended up colliding with the barrier while we were at the park.

During my most recent visit, my pup had a great time. This park is large with lots of things to sniff. My dog likes to explore on his own, but the dogs that greeted him were well behaved. I see from other reviews that not everyone likes the ground and that there isn't so much shade. I get that. Maybe in another season, this park's challenges would be more obvious. I didn't experience the inattentive dog owners that some reviews mention on this given Sunday, and there were about 20 dogs in the large dog area. The small dog area is for dogs under 25 lbs or that are "timid." It still looks like a substantial area. There are tables and chairs but, yeah, most looked pretty old or gross. I'm happy to stand around or run with my dog instead. I appreciate the easy parking and proximity to the river.

i wish it wasn't just sand and dirt but otherwise it's fine. sometimes aggressive dogs in the afternoons, but we go first thing in the AM and it's a very friendly group of regulars, all super low-key and friendly dogs who just want to run and play.if you have an aggressive dog, please don't come here and use it as a tool to socialize your dog. work on that first and then come here to play once your dog is appropriate with other dogs and people. there are also often small children here with their dogs, so please be aware of that.

I love how big this location is! So much room to chuck the tennis ball! There's tables and random chairs around in the shade and a great water source for pups to hydrate. It's also got a much better parking situation than Midtown's Truitt Bark Park. This dog park is actually very well kept and does bring a good crowd. What I love most is you can always count on other dogs to be here! Rhett always has a buddy to play with no matter the time of day. Note: There are some sticker weeds in the back part. Watch their paws!

First time there this past week; I usually go to the Bark Park. First off, it's huge. Like, really huge. Plenty of space to separate out and do your own thing. However, that can also be a downside. When dogs wander off to the opposite end of the park, there usually isn't an owner keeping eyes on their dogs. There is a decent amount of shade, considering the size of the place. Near the entrance is a water spigot with a hose attached. A couple of large bowls and a kiddie pool are nearby. The surface is sand and it's near a paved walking trail. At this point, I've only been there twice and there weren't many dogs there, so I can't speak much to how other owners are, or what a busy time looks like.

Just going to lay it out therePROS: space, tons of itDrainage after rain, not a slop or mud and can come right after and it's barely dampEarly morning dog crew of playful pups and good owners. (8am-9:30am M-F) consistently.Usually very clean Soft terrain on the far side for fetch if worried about paw pads.Doggy pool in the summerDoggy fountain Overall 90% respectful, responsible owners and their playful pups.CONS: Some people don't like the ground materiel. It can be rough but my girls have never had an issue. VEEERRYYY hot in the summer. As anywhere is in Sac in the summer but very very little shade. No lights for evening play. In the winter it gets hard to take the pup after work because it's dark so soon. Really wish they had lights so we could bring our pups after dark.Do not sit in the chairs. They ALWAYS get peed on. Sit on top of the tables and benches. Overall a good park. The cons are usually cons of most dog parks so take that as you will.

A friend and I brought an energetic pooch to the dog park a day after a torrential rainstorm. Much to my surprise, this dog park was not a swamp of mud puddles. The gravel surface here apparently drains well.It being winter, the temperatures were not a problem. I could see this site being a bit too exposed to the summer heat. It doesn't have grass, but there's a od reason for it (as explained in other reviews). There's the usual doggie drinking fountain with bowls and a low basin for pooches to drink after building up a thirst from running around the park.I like that this isn't completely flat and it is large enough for even a bigger dog to stretch out and ~run~! I appreciate that even as this area gets more popular and space becomes an issue, there's a larger park like this for canines to get their needed exercise on.Points for it being not at all far away if you're in East Sac or Midtown.

Great dog park for my pup when there are no other dogs. Even the area for small dogs is really huge. However it seems a lot of people with aggressive dogs come here to "socialize" their dogs. I've broken two fingers and gotten bit once pulling a an aggressive dog off of my pup. He does not know how to fight or stand up for himself so he is a target for big, aggressive dogs. Have also witnessed dogs attack other puppies even after their owners claimed they were non aggressive and fine with other dogs. So, just beware.
