Once they do some much needed maintenance it's a relatively nice place to stay. The manager was very sweet and she made the stay pleasant.

The room was clean, freshly painted, with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in.The walls are not sound-proofed, but it was not that loud. A great value for the money.

3 stars perfectly fits this place. It's a painfully average motel, the price is not cheap, but not expensive. The location is also not great. One of the staff members answered the phone initially telling me $60, $75 with tax. When I arrived and they saw my out of state plates, I was told it'd be around $80 potentially more after tax. I then repeated what they had said on the phone and they agreed to the original price. I found their bargaining unprofessional. The rooms are not super clean, the shower is small. However your room is right next to the parking which is nice, and the room has a microwave and fridge. Considering the abundance of motel horror stories, the situation could be way worse.

We are business owners and travel almost all the time. The Surf Motel staff are by far the kindest people we have ever met. The rooms are reasonably priced, quite, very clean and beautiful with a little kitchenette. We will definitely be repeat customers. Anyone who comes to Sacramento should only stay here.

I stayed at the Surf Motel because I live 50 miles away, and working on the weekends in Sacramento, so this saved me on two round trips of 200 miles versus 100 miles. The motel was very clean. The water pressure was awesome & the water was very hot making a good shower. It was simply wonderful to have a microwave & refrigerator in the room, which allowed me to save money. They provided me with a wake-up call to my cell phone, which I appreciated. The staff (The father Paul, & son Andy) were very kind to me. They were courteous, polite, friendly, & very accommodating with any request I have. I will be continuing this weekend work for months and I plan to stay at the Surf Motel for the price, the location, and the overall friendliness of the staff. Thanks for a great experience

First off, this was the worst motel I had ever stayed at. I gave it a shot since the other review seemed good, however we did NOT have the same experience. I called in advance to see how much a room for the night was for one person and the man said $60. Once again when I checked in I asked, he said $60. However, when I opened my wallet to give him the money he asked for $10 more. Thinking it was for a deposit I gave him $10 more dollars, but I never got it back. Also, he was very rude and had no customer service skills what-so-ever. The room had a very strong cigarette stench, which is bothersome to someone who doesn't smoke. The walls are very thin, and you can hear every car passing by on the highway next to the motel. The doors have a key, not a card,to open them, and has no sense of security. It seems these doors can be easily kicked in. Around midnight an angry woman, that was not staying there, was pounding on every door and window searching for "Shawn," which was very uncomfortable. The manager came out and asked her to leave, but when she argued back he asked her if she wanted him to "open the door for her." Thats would have been a big invasion of privacy, and what if he would have opened my door. I slept with a chair wedged between the door handle for the rest of the night. I would have given this place negative stars, however it made me give it at least one star. It was not "you get what you pay for." Motel 6 is the same price and way better.
