Super Gyros

I really wanted to like Super Gyros, but it just isn't for me. I don't think I'll be returning either.Firstly, there was only one person working--taking orders and making food and ringing folks up. At dinnertime on a Thursday. This led to quoted wait times between 35-45 minutes while I waited for my order. Not sure if it was just an unfortunate circumstance/call-out or what, but it doesn't seem tenable to keep it a one-man operation if that isn't the case. He was nice, if obviously harried by the continuous orders. Also strong pro-LEO vibe inside, just to make an observation.Secondly, the food was sort of all over the place. I got the lamb plate, the falafel (with extra tzatziki sauce), and hummus with pita. The lamb plate was okay--the rice was really good--but the actual lamb itself was really salty and I ended up giving my leftovers to my partner. The hummus was confusing--bland, really bitter, and yet also really salty? The pita wasn't very soft either, instead sort of dry and stiff. I liked the falafel the least. They were bland and overall really dense and toothsome. Like the mixture was overworked. Really good tzatziki though. Like I said, overall it just isn't for me.

My first visit was 5 stars. My 2nd and last visit was 0 stars. The owner who on my first visit sat with me as he was closing down the place was awesome. He and I chatted much about the food and life. That conversation was so good, even though the gyro was ok, that I came back. During my 2nd visit l, almost 1 hr before closing l, as he sees me walk up to the restaurant, turns off the sign and says that he is o busy with carry outs that he can't take any more orders. I asked him if he could take mine as I driven so far and given our previous rapport. He said no and hoped to see me next time. Seriously? Such a short sighted man. You had a customer for life but you gave in to short term gains. You could have easily made me a gyro but you chose to prioritize phone in orders over me. You could have easily said that it was going to be awhile and I would patiently waited. But instead you treated me as though you had never seen me before even though we shared a great conversation and meal together.

Gave it two stars for the reason that they don't take cards, cash only. We are in the age of crypto, AI and starlink, you telling me that this place can't do Zelle or Venmo, while taco trucks do them. Not returning

Wow oh wow! This is THE spot for Greek dishes. They have gyro, lamb, kabobs, and more. I was able to try the gyro sandwich and it was delicious.I arrived during lunch hours and found it was quiet and empty when I came in. No customers around but I did see two staff members behind the counter and the young gentleman (maybe the owner?) was able to take my order. Their menu is not extensive and very simple. Therefore, looking at all the great options and the establishment title, I had to go with the gyros sandwich.He made it fast! The meat is sliced off the spinning rotisserie meat and reheated on the griddle. From there, the sandwich is made with various veggies to complement the dish. The sandwich was filled! I didn't expect to have so much meat, but it was a perfect ratio. The pita bread was fluffy and the meat was delicious and not too salty. For the price, it is affordable and a great spot to grab food on the go. Plenty of parking in the private lot and seating to dine in. I can't wait to try the other items off the menu!

Amazing food quality! This guy works hard and produces quality food consistently. It is my go to spot for Mediterranean food in Motown!

The food here is authentic Assyrian food! You see several natives coming in to pick up food to go or dine in. This is a classic staple of locals here in the area. Currently, the son owns this business, but it was originally the father who is unfortunately gone on to be with the Lord. This is the epitome of a local business.The ambience is very low-key as all of the dishes are served and to go containers. The owner is also the cook and the cashier so with limited staff help it is easier for them to do disposable plates and napkins. Prices here are very reasonable, and portions are extremely generous! Highly recommend you give this local gem a try, and you will not be disappointed! Parking here is more than sufficient! Noticed all of the five star reviews, and there are hundreds of them! You absolutely can't go wrong coming to this place! My favorite was the Gyro meat! Check out my photos!

Robert (I think he is owner) is the backbone of this business, his friendly & courteous personality + the delicious food makes this one of my favorite places...in addition very clean dining area + clean restrooms.I eat here on average once a

I have visited this Super Gyros restaurant for years, but have not left a review. The food here is phenomenal. Every time we come the meat is fantastic. The salads are delicious, the pita bread fresh and so good. The baklava is the best I've ever had. Moist and generous. The service is wonderful and given with heart and kindness. You can't miss with this fantastic restaurant!

This place is a hidden gem. Passed by on my lunch break and was interested in their gyros. I went in and the place is very decent sized and clean. Ordered the combo kabob plate (beef and chicken) it was great quality New York steak and chicken breast. The salad was fresh (not an ounce of sogginess) this Mediterranean restaurant is the best ... by far... that I've ever tried! The baklava was truly amazing! My new favorite place. Just a heads up, you probably want to call ahead to order. There was one man working, but he was friendly and hardworking, so it did take a while. But great food is never instant. It was worth the wait and I'm glad I gave this place a try!

Great food, good process, friendly service and a clean restaurant. Easy access from McHenry, plenty of parking.
