Sunshine Hawaii BBQ

After reading the reviews, I decided to get the island fire chicken to go as a meal on our way up North.I am so glad I listened to the reviews. The island fire chicken is flavorful and fulfilling as a meal.Definitely ordering this again when I pass by Stockton.The service was quick. The bathroom is slightly dirty which is why I am deducting one stat, but other than that everything else was great.

my friend and i were en route from sacramento back to san mateo and decided to take the "long way" back, down thru stockton and across the east bay. stockton proved to be a great midpoint to stop for lunch, not crowded at all and easy parking, since the restaurant had its own lot.at 13.30 on a sunday, we were one of two or three parties inside...no wait to order lunch! there were quite a few options to choose from, but i went with the shrimp teriyaki plate ($13.99) which came with two scoops of white rice, macaroni salad, teriyaki shrimp and mixed veggies. the plate was HUGE and they were very generous with the helping of shrimp, which i greatly appreciated. the veggies were a bit oversauced and salty, but i appreciated the quantity they provided. i enjoyed the macaroni salad, but barely touched the rice since i was pretty full from everything else.not much ambiance inside, pretty bare bones restaurant, but that worked perfectly for us b/c we wanted to eat in about 30 minutes and head back on the road, which is exactly what we got...well, closer to 35 minutes, but who's counting?unfortunately, there was only 1 customer restroom and we had to wait a bit to use it, but i appreciated that it was clean.

When you wanted to take some sauce be warned guy there want you to limit might as well they don't make self service for you want just one.

Food sometimes disappoints due to over cooked but most times great. The service always fast due to the place not being packed of course. A lot of room to move and tables are far enough for people to walk by.

Very pricey. $22 for two ribs and mediocre slaw and beans. It filled me up but overall disappointed. It's probably hard to make a business work at SALT so I am not upset but I wouldn't go again.

I ordered the BBQ mixed. Their serving portion was moderate. The meats need more seasoning. I had the same plate elsewhere and it was more savory in flavors. Overall the Restaurant is nice and clean. Would I come back, no.

Good BBQ place. I've tried everything here - the ribs, chicken and beef. All of them are good. The meals are a bit pricey, close to $20 for a meal with a drink, but they give a generous portion of everything. It's also very convenient if you're staying at the motel next door.

Bbq mix plate my ribs and beef had no flavor and the meat was not tender. The mac salad was loaded with Mayo it's the only flavor you taste. The chicken almost under cooked. Service was okay. Old diner vibe but clean. First and last.

The Cook at the Downtown Stockton CA location does not know the proper way to plate their Loco Moco. He placed the Hamburger Patty, Eggs, and Gravy on top of the vegies, instead of over the rice. Now my veggies are soggy and the rice is dry. Also, traditional Loco Moco is served with over easy Eggs, or made to order. My plate was served with well done Eggs (fried hard and not by choice). -- feeling disappointed at Sunshine Hawaii Bbq.

You will not get a better deal than this. more portions and at least $4 cheaper than the national chains. the mac is not as sweet and might be missing some vinegar in the recipe but the food is amazing for the deal. no where else in town can you get a plate of katsu this cheap. the execution on the food was just fine im guessing some others came on a bad day.
