This is a small town mountain lodge and inn. People who have rated this one star definitely grew up affluent. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. I sat and ate breakfast at my table while one of the gentlemen who worked here ate at another table. We conversed a little and it was more of a family type feel with the staff making sure I got my food and any condiments I needed. The restaurant is a literal 30 foot walk from the rooms and the outdoor deck is awesome. I've stayed in two rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs and it was quiet both nights. AC and Direct TV in the rooms, although no fridge or microwave so bring an ice chest if you'd like to keep drinks cold.

Safety concerns, uncomfortable, overpriced and smelly. But I will say that there were nice employees who are doing their best.Safety concern: There are no landline phones in the rooms. Mountain cell reception is inconsistent. We have t-mobile and did not have any cell reception. Hotel WiFi goes in and out. This means that in an emergency there may be no way to call emergency services. Please keep in mind before booking if you have medical conditions. An old man slipped on ice in the morning. If it had happened at night it may have been a really bad situation. If you stay here, save driving directions to the nearest hospital on your phone ahead of time.In our case we had no way of contacting anyone when the pipe under our sink started flooding the bathroom at night. Since there's no front desk when the restaurant is closed, there's no way to contact anyone. Luckily my husband found an employee in the hall who lives in the apartment above the restaurant and she fixed our sink late at night. When you check in they don't give you any direct contact info for who to call after hours.People checking in late have their room keys taped to the wall by the front door in envelopes with their name on it, and room number is on the inner envelope. This means that anyone off the street could potentially come in and take a key and gain access to the guest corridors. Or let someone into your room to wait, if you're into horror movies. If you arrive and your key isn't there and it's after hours, you may have no way of contacting anyone at the hotel since there is no front desk and cell reception is not available for some people depending on carrier. Even if you have reception they don't answer after hours. The rooms smell overpoweringly of cheap perfume-y cleaning solution. There is no mini fridge. No curtains -just blinds- so if you have small kids get ready to be awake at the crack of dawn. No tub. This would be fine if they weren't charging the same as a nice hotel. It was our bad since we booked last minute. There is a reason this is the last place with vacancies.Pizza was good though! And employees were nice. It's next to a pretty river and there is a cute general store across the way where they make homemade chili and fudge.

Beautiful location. Clean rooms. Food is good not great. I hear the pizza is the thing, I didn't have it.Recommend eating outside near the river. Bar near by with pool tables. Staff is very friendly and they work hard.I noticed a lot of old reviews which are disappointing for sure but that wasn't my experience. My only complaint is no refrigerator or ice. Considering the cost that is definitely a negative.I just went across the street to a convenient store and bought some with a portable plastic cooler.I stayed for 6 days. Very busy on weekends like everything up here. Not so much midweek.I will be back.

My husband booked this place very last minute so that we could go skiing at Dodge Ridge, which was only 11-18 minutes away from this inn. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was that there was only a few cars parked in the outdoor parking lot. As we approached the staircase, there was a lady who was smoking a cigarette right in front of the entry door sitting on the entry staircase. When we asked where we can check in, she got up and said that she could help us check in. She was the employee! As we entered, she led us to the billiards/lounge/bar/eating area. There were only a few people there so I didn't think anything of it. We then ordered a medium pizza because a lot of the items were no longer available. To order food, we had to stand at the bar and order it from the same lady who checked us in. Later that night, we ended up playing billiards and then headed to sleep. The next morning, after being the only ones there to grab breakfast, one of the other female staff members asked if we wanted to order breakfast for the next morning since their chef and kitchen was closed tomorrow morning. I was confused because it was a work week, so why on earth would they be closed? Without questioning, my husband ordered us all breakfast. That same night, we get a knock on our hotel door and find a stack of containers next to our door. It was our breakfast! Mind you, there was no refrigerator, microwave, table, chairs or seating in our hotel room. So we left them outside our hotel door to prevent our hotel room from smelling up. The next morning, we had to go downstairs and into the exiting hallway to heat our now cold breakfast (which had cheese and other items that can spoil) in their microwave and eat with the plates they provided and plastic utensils. It was really hard to eat the food on our laps. The breakfast room, which had buckets of soapy water and signs stating where to put away your dishes, was completely locked up. Not even the billiards room was open and the 2 employee were gone. So we ended up eating what we could and left. It was horrible! Not only was it pretty vacant, but the room looked super bad. Orange walls, A/C punched through the wall, boob light as a ceiling mount, no Netflix or other movie channels you could log into, everything was really small and builder grade, lighting in the bathroom was nauseating, and it was really tacky decor. There is no elevator so to haul your suitcases upstairs took some balance (stairs were not to code and slanted) and strength. I think the only thing we liked was how close it was to Dodge Ridge and the river. Wish this historic inn could get new management or ownership as well as a makeover. Paint over those strange murals in the hallway. No one wants to see a female snowman painting with breasts (see pic).

While the location is good if you plan to ski at Dodge Ridge I would not recommend staying here, there is no microwave or refrigerator they have a restaurant but it was closed one of the nights we stayed there. The walls are also very thin and we heard our upstairs neighbors doing adult stuff in the middle of the night and no phone in the room to call a front desk because there is no front desk to help! Would not stay here again.

***********Copied from Google maps review ******Came in on a Memorial weekend Monday. There was only one person taking orders and calling in beeper to dish out completed orders. On a busy Monday like this, this combination of one cook + one staff member quickly became a bottleneck, leading to1. Wait times for more than 40mins for something like a salad.2. Dishing out orders out-of-order (meaning no longer first come first serve), even though they were of the same type. When me and couple of other customers started asking for refund for non-completed orders, staff started talking rudely and started threatening customers to call cops on them.Point is, keeping aside the systematic and regional bias, the staff needs "Working Service Industry 101". If you are w/o options, come on in with pretty low expectations and bail out early! Should save you an hour!
