This review is specifically for 3 vendors. Vendor #1 is the guy making custom cutting boards. He's a true artist that has an amazing assortment of cutting boards and serving trays. And since charcuterie is all the rage these days I highly recommend picking up a board from this gentlemen that can really hold court if you ask the right questions. He communicates well his process and design, along with the type of hardwoods used. What better way to serve your deli sliced salami, gourmet cheese, and dried fruits and nuts than a custom charcuterie board designed and created by a true artisan.Next is the mushroom guy. If you want chanterelles picked super fresh, or if you want something for the next risotto, this is the guy to see!His chanterelles were so fresh they still had pine needles on them :)Finally, and I'm gonna hate myself for this one, is the Frenchy Gourmet. Well, it was a secret for a while but the San Francisco Chronicle did an article on them and now they have been discovered. Stockton is lucky enough to have that nice girl show up early in the morning when some flavors are sold out just as soon as she opens up. Not only that, but I'm racing my buddy over there to be third in line as the day begins. Long story short, this product is in high demand and it truly is a game changer. I'm not even going to tell you what the product is but trust me, once you have this from your spoon to your tongue, there is no going back! Now I'm gonna have to fight even more people on Sunday morning to get my favorite!

Great variety and quality produce. The strawberries on May 1, 2016 were gorgeous. Pricing was reasonable - less than Save Mart organic strawberry regular price.Husband got cherries and plowed through them. I got kale.I have to give accolades to the hummus vendor. I'm sad that I already discarded the container - I'm not sure of their name. Maybe Heavenly Hummus? I got the kale almond hummus, and it was delicious!Plan to return to this farmers market, open every Sunday!

Happy happy joy joy! Maureen, my Yelp buddy gently corrected me, as I believed this market closed thanks to the Trinity Pkwy liars. I digress. Forgive my momentary snippyness. Let me center myself and focus on what I consider the BEST Stockton market, now under the auspices of San Joaquin Certified Farmers' Market (website www.sjcfarmersmarket.com). I loaded up on: red potatoes for my famous garlic smashed potatoes, apricot jelly, beets, sweet potato bread for my hips, juicy nectarines - both yellow and white, onions to make me cry, Guzzetti's Garlic Artichoke spread to keep the vampires away, dried pluots, many, many greens to stir-fry, tomatoes, bread pudding from A&M Dutch Bakery and the inimitable Dorothy Coil's Basil-infused Canola Oil. What culinary concoctions will I come up with this week? Sorry, you can't come over, our new place is cozy (code word for small). But you can find me here on a Sunday morning graciously accepting samples and manhandling produce: smelling fruit and squeezing tomatoes.

I try to go every Sunday morning. It's even easier now that they've moved to the old Circuit City parking lot -- no crazy Dillard's shoppers to dodge while you're carrying your fruits and veggies back to your car, as they raced through the lot to grab that spot closest to the door. Don't walk too far, for god's sake!Anyway, whatever is in season in San Joaquin County and environs is available here. Today I scored plums (my favorite summer fruit), apricots, numerous types of squash, a couple big bunches of carrots and beets, and red onions. I'm good for the week! All fresh and not too long from the ground or the tree -- I love that earthy and newly picked aroma. If you haven't already, give 'em a try. I'm betting you'll become a regular too.

This week ran by on Thursday between errands for work. Grabbed some fresh fruits & veggies and scored some awesome raspberries (ate them right out of the carton and on my morning oatmeal with brown sugar and almond milk) and more of those awesome fresh beets; which went in my daily carrot/green juice-mmmmmnn! Oh and some fresh cilantro and vine tomatoes, which btw, went in my version of pico de gallo-added to my wild salmon tacos this weekend....num-num-nummy-yum!
