Taiko is the art of Japanese drumming. Stockton Bukkyo Taiko operates out of Stockton Buddhist church, and as such plays at many of the church's functions. They also usually perform at the Chinese New Year festival and the asparagus festival every year! They offer classes for all ages and skill ranges. Check them out at the temple or online! I played with this group for a couple of years during college, and they're a really welcoming, community-minded, easy-going bunch. My college had a talent show one year, and they helped me move drums over there and played at it! They're great to watch and fun to play with! Here they are on Youtube!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HikdZ0iWYFk

I have had the absolute pleasure of attending 2 performances of this group in our small town of Foresthill sponsored by our Library and initiated by our favorite librarian Robyn. THANK YOU'S to all the members who took time out of their lives to share their incredible talents and awesome JOY with total strangers. Honestly have never cried at a concert but tears flowed freely with incredible happiness , even with my Grandson's present at the event.(and they were not a bit embarrassed} If ever you have the opportunity to be a member of their audience you must attend, it's actually a Bucket List event!!!!!!!
