This place was loads of fun despite it being crowded when we went, which was fair considering it was public session on a Saturday afternoon. You have the option of either purchasing tickets online ahead of time to skip the line or purchasing tickets in person. It was $20 per person for what they call "holiday admission." I was confused about that considering it's no longer holidays, but can't complain since this includes the skate rentals. Once you've got your wristbands, you're good to grab your ice skates from the rental area. I was surprised that they were kept in pretty good condition. They're not incredibly comfortable by any means but they are rentals for a reason. They're made of hard plastic and have the adjustable buckles that snap into place. I think I prefer these over lacing since it's faster to just strap and go.I'm not a seasoned ice skater by any means but this was my 4th time ice skating ever, and it had been years since I've last skated. I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to keep my balance and not crash into anyone considering there were so many people there that day.I get that the plastic skate helpers are there for little ones and those in general who'd want to avoid falling but I was irritated with the preteens who were skating way too fast with the seal ones. It was hard for me, and I'm sure for everyone else too, to dodge the teens that were having way too much fun zipping around with the seals. I think if the rink allowed a limited amount of the seal skates, it'd be less chaotic for sure.I do appreciate there actually being staff who're keeping an eye out for anyone that may have gotten injured though. All in all, I had a fun time here and I'd definitely come back often if it wasn't so far from us.

This is a solid 3 star review of Skatetown Ice Arena in Roseville. The facility is located right off Interstate 80 on the border of Placer and Sacramento County. Skatetown has two hockey rinks that are multipurpose hosting many different ice related adventures. Parking is decent, but can get tight during events. The facility is showing its age, but still delivers a good experience for most. Layout is simple with good signage to find the key features. There is a skate rental shop and a full pro shop selling a lot of ice sport items. You can also stop at the snack bar for typical pizza and fried treats plus cold drinks and beer. You can also take the food and drink into the spectator seating in each rink. The two rinks are where the action happens. Skatetown has an active agenda hosting ice skating, hockey, curling, and birthday parties. Many people get lessons for above too. I attended to see their adult hockey league play. The league play is highly recommended. Attendance is free, but buy something to help the business. Games are about 1 hour, but the rinks are very cold with hard bleacher seating. Bring a jacket and a cushion! The main event is the action on the ice. If you are learning to skate or scoring a goal, this place is awesome. The rest of the facility is rather basic, but it serves the purpose. I am sure many families have fond memories of this place, especially the cold!

We took our hockey goalie grandson here for a free skate while he was visiting. It was easy to book online and print out his wristband. All the staff were really nice and there was a diverse group of folks skating on a Friday afternoon, all ages and skill levels. There were lots of places to sit and watch including some barstools looking into the rink. It was nice to be warm! A great facility.

Skatetown was so nice for a beginner like me. They had these tall buckets that you can hold onto and move around on the rink. Their shoes were comfortable and clean. Cleanliness is something I appreciate a lot. Staff was friendly and it was a fun time. Be careful and have fun on the ice!

Be prepared for this place is busy. One of my youngster cousins wanted his birthday party here. Good choice!! My family and I had a rollicking good time at this coolest place in town. The attitude you bring with you makes all the difference in the experience. The wait staff was warm, friendly, welcoming, courteous, organized, helpful, professional, advised us of all the current specials, adequate for all our skating needs, adequate at serving us, and newbie and disabled-friendly. Here the owner has developed work systems that dignify work and dignify individuals. It's open year-round to host hockey, figure and public skating activities along with birthday parties, hockey and figure lessons, hockey leagues, synchronized skating teams, broomball, curling, school field trips, summer camps and more. What this business did in stark contrast to many businesses I've frequented lately:Is energy-efficient. A magazine, `Energy Users News' called Skatetown Ice Arena, winner of the 1999 Commercial Building of the Year, "the most energy-efficient facility in the nation." Skatetown, a 62,000 square feet building, uses an elaborate computer system to monitor climate, a recycling system for water used to make ice, energy efficient lights and other sophisticated techniques. Was newbie and disabled-friendly.No automatic gratuity was added to our bill. We just don't pay any added automatic gratuity or merchant fees as we pay only for what we had bargained for upfront and received. No one here offered to commit fraud to reward us, pay us or compensate us for posting 5 star reviews of this business. FTC forbids the use of fake testimonials as are illegal under Section 5 of the FTC Act 15 USC 45 as they are using unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce. No one here hassled us about my Service Dog or the Veterans' accouterments I adorn her with lavishly. I don't think anyone even noticed my Service Dog entering, under the table, or leaving. The owners of this business like their Freedom so they have a Military and Veterans Discount as a thank you to Veterans with a publicly disclosed daily Veteran Discount which provides resource to ensure Veterans (rare 7% of the population) and GIs (rare one-half of one percent of the population) opportunity to participate in American Dream Veterans and GIs' sacrifices have made possible for 100% of the population.I'll be back.

Love this place, only been there twice now, and I already love it! I have never liked ice skating, but skatetown makes it fun and enjoyable with so many games to participate in! The staff are amazing, and very friendly! Definitely would recommend for any beginners, they have a little section roped off for beginners, and cute little pushers for kids to ride on while their parents push them. The food is ok, moderately priced. Overall 9.5/10
