I was looking for a primitive campsite close to the lake. When I arrived and saw that it was a packed campground with the stalls you pull into and have just a limited space and the lake was about three-quarters of a mile walk though a trail I was a little heartbroken. However the BEST part of the Silver Valley Campground is Nick the manager. He kept that place cleaned watched out over all the campers and was professionally cool. Nick is the greatest asset to this campsite. And if you speed going trough it he very much puts you in check! If you're looking for a nice place for a family go here!

Camping is one on top of one another!Seems like one giant group campground. Generators run all day!!!!! Noise level is very loud from to many people in one area. If it's hot in the Valley like Modesto, plan on the lake being shoulder to shoulder and forget finding a parking spot. Seriously watch out for dog poop! Broken glass, fishing hooks and fishing line everywhere.

I grew up in Placerville and visited Silver Lake as a child up until my adult life now. I used to haul my aluminum fishing boat up to the lake from my cabin in Grizzly Flats.I have caught many 12-16" trout here each time I went fishing here. German brown and rainbows. I have camped here many times as well. They have a store and fishing supplies, plus if you like you can rent small aluminum fishing boats with 25 HP motors. This is a gorgeous little lake near Lake Tahoe on HWY 88. I recommend camping at Silver Lake.

Just spent 3 nights here and it was a nice campground. Camp host AJ was nice and very accommodating. We arrived at the campground at noon on a Tuesday and it was almost full. Most spots are on the small side and somewhat close together. Flush toilets seem to be a big draw at the campgrounds here and it shows. Campground was mostly quiet with just one or two inconsiderate "loud talkers" up past the 10 pm quiet time. The lake itself is beautiful and very kid friendly. Firewood can be purchased down the road at the lodge/general store. Worst part of this campground were the flies. Lots of flies here during the heat of the day. It was pretty bad.Be warned, Lake Alpine campgrounds are crowded. If you're looking for solitude and not a lot of people then go elsewhere. I'll come back here again, but not until September when most kids are back in school and summer crowds are gone.

Map Coordinates: 38.479962, -119.986866Spent a few days here during July 2016. Gorgeous site at the east end of Lake Alpine. The campsites are all very nice. They have level tent areas, picnic tables, and fire rings that also serve as BBQ pits. The restrooms are flush toilets and for the most part were kept very clean. There are ample water spigots throughout the campground. The garbage dumpsters are located right at the entrance to the grounds. The camp host, "AJ", was a very nice man. Extremely helpful and never too busy to answer your questions.Warning: even in mid-July, the nights here get VERY COLD! Be sure to bring adequate blankets or sleeping bag for 40 degree nights. During the day, the weather is divine. High 60's - low 70's.Lake Alpine a beautiful place. There are showers at the resort for $3.25 / 5 minutes. They also sell ice.
