The Shorebird Park Nature Center & Adventure is clearly a special place to come and walk, take advantage of water sports and number one... bring the kids. This park is located in the Berkeley Marina area and the perfect spot to enjoy nature and take in some relaxing views. I was visiting my grandchildren the Berkley area and my son arranged this day trip for us. What a fun place to be. Parking was extremely easy and it's just a minute walk to the water and kids adventure playground.Adjacent to the park is the 'Adventure Playground' which is a great area where kids can be kids and explore. They build, paint, create structures and add to the exsisting ones. What I saw most of were kids with hammers and nails building (with the moms next to them of course.) It is a fun and 'creative environment for them to explore and be kids while working collectively with their parents. After my my grandkids finished playing in this area, they all ran down to the water, climbed rocks and really had a good time. The park itself offers picnic areas and lots of benches to sit and watch all going on around you (see pictures).KUDOs to the teams at Shorebird Park Nature Center & Adventure Playground

Shorebird Park Nature Center & Adventure Play holds a special place in my heart. Located in the Berkeley Marina area, it's the perfect spot to enjoy nature and take in some relaxing views. I usually park at the end of the marina and take a leisurely walk to the park.Next to the park is the Adventure Playground, which is a super cool spot where kids can build, paint, and create structures freely--such a fun and creative environment for them to explore. This park is situated near the Cal Adventures area, where you can catch sight of people surfing, sailing, kayaking, and more. The park itself offers a vast grassy area, which is perfect for picnics or lounging. There are plenty of tables and benches, making it an ideal spot for gatherings and birthday parties. The public bathroom is also a convenient touch for families spending the day here. One of the best parts of Shorebird Park is the gorgeous view of the water. It's a fantastic place to sit back and observe the birds, and wild turkeys, or watch people engaging in water sports. It's a peaceful, scenic escape with plenty to offer for both adults and kids.

Shorebird Park Nature Center is absolutely incredible! Their conservation work with wildlife, like turkeys, is impressive. It's a vibrant, inspiring spot that shows how much we should respect our environment. A must-visit for an energizing nature experience!

This place is absolutely a treasure! Staff are helpful and kind, community vibes here are great, and the freedom to let kids imaginations run wild goes strong. Build your own, add to what's there, and don't forget the zip line!

Such a unique and awesome playground. The park reminds me of growing up in the country and making fun out of whatever your surroundings are. My kids love the zip line, rolling in the tires, creating new structures within the park and creating art.

When I was a kid we somehow had wood around and built some amazing forts: underground forts, aboveground forts, 3-story forts, forts in the creek, and forts in the trees. Probably the older kids did most of the heavy labor. I remember getting chances at the hammer and saw and moving around some seemingly hefty lumber. Somehow, the structures ended up being sound enough to hold our weight. Some stood the test of several years. We laughed and played in those forts. Some among us, ran and hid in those forts. We knew how to carry plywood and boards. We knew how to swing a hammer and use a saw. Now I live in the city and I guess kids here don't get those kinds of experiences. But thanks to Adventure Playground kids DO get chances to hammer nails and saw wood. They're allowed to build or destroy things, mostly with wood. Play structures already exist with ample possibilities for climbing and crawling, over and under, and such. We're not allow to cut like, major support beams, but seems like we're allowed to add on or remodel to our heart's content. To get a tool, you gotta minimally help clean up by finding, for example, 5 nails. And tools are limited in quantity, so you kinda have to wait your turn, but they have hammers and saws, paint and brushes, aprons, and fun getting-dirty and building-muscles kinda toys. There's also a zipline! It's FREE! ! !If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

This review is strictly for Adventure playground and not the rest of the park.I went here with my 7 yo son on Sunday Jan 5 as he loves the playground and this wasn't our first time here. I am a cautious parent and believe my child's safety is my priority so he had on an apron before beginning to paint and paint he did throughout the playground staying out of other children's way and really just happily minding his business. Once he decided to paint on a pipe that it looked like two 9 yo girls were also painting on. Before he began he asked them if it was ok if he painted in a specific area and if they could stay out of his area and they agreed. He began painting and I soon saw these rude feral little girls picking on him, painting in his area and throwing sand. At first I let it play out and let him voice to them to kindly stop and leave him and the area he was painting alone. Then one of the little girls says it's not his and they could paint wherever they wanted, and the other gets a full bowl of paint and purposefully splatters it all over my son. It got on his face and all over the apron that he was thankfully wearing. I went to one of the staff and asked them if throwing paint on other children was acceptable and she told me no, and told the girls to stop and to only use the paintbrushes and not pour the whole container out. The feral children's guardian was not even in the playground and once the staff member went away they continued to violate my child's space and boundaries. Once the guardian came back I explained the situation and they straightened the girls out, but the staff failed awfully here. If a child is using a tool in a way that isn't safe and you can see it is affecting others-- why continue to give that child the ammunition to bully and harass? And if you know the children you're bringing are ill behaved make sure you have an eye on them! Idk if we will ever return these staff need to get it together and be more responsible just because it's a kids playground does not mean there shouldn't be respect and rules for safety.

I love the playground and area. The staff here needs to get trained on customer service .My son and I were here yesterday and we asked the girl that was working there how we make wood into a circle, and she shrugged her shoulders and said " I don't know ". Another lady told me that she asked her questions and she didn't know the answer or would give her answers that had nothing to do with her question. For reference, there was two Hispanic boys, one Caucasian girl working in the back and the girl that we are referring to was African-American .One of the guys did try to help us.

BEST PARK EVERR !! My kids had SO much fun, everything is handmade but I enjoy the risky play. They get to paint and build stuff and make friends. There's a clean bathroom nearby and water as well. We stayed until closing, so much fun.
