I know that this park gets a bad name, but I've lived closed by and at first, I was a bit skeptical. I started walking my dog here and there is so much open space even with the baseball fields and basketball courts. I try to come here everyday to walk my dog and even let him fun free a little bit. Every time that I have come, I've yet to have any kind of issue with anything. I've seen elderly couples walking hand in hand together through the park, kids of all kinds with their pickup basketball games, and this seems to be a very popular place for people to walk their dogs. My only gripe is that there is a lot of people that park in the parking lot and do who knows what, but the tend to throw their trach out their windows and leave it on the ground. If only people would do a better job in picking up after themselves I don't see why this cant be a park for everyone.

I have many fond memories at Sandman Park growing up. I had a best friend that lived right around the corner so we spent a whole lot of time hanging out there.I am really torn what rating to give Sandman, its really between 3 and 4 and If I really had to choose I would say that I am a fan of Sandman Park...I think it is more than just "a-ok".Woah and just as I wrote that exact statement I went to the "official" City of Stockton website and this is the list of the Google "sponsored" results that came up next to the map of the park: (copied and pasted directly)Sandman Park - Stockton - RecreationParks.net www.recreationparks.netCity of Stockton, CA - City Councilmembers and Districts www.stocktongov.com16 Year Old Stabbed, Dies in the Arms of Stranger - Topix www.topix.comGang Related News- Stockton, Ca. www.gangs187.comLook at those last two! I guess Sandman has gone somewhat downhill. I leave this as a call to action to the City of Stockton to help bring Sandman back up to the wonderful way it was when I was younger. :0)
