This part of the trail was flooded. So we had to turn around and choose a different path.

Beautiful place to walk around and explore with the naked eye or with binoculars. The wildlife is plentiful, although I only saw bugs and birds, I saw evidence (ie. scat) that proves other larger animals are also in the area. This is a peaceful place for an hike walk, not true hike since there's not any hills to climb. Learn from my mistake and do t come here on a 95+ degree day! It was so hot and there's minimal shaded areas along the trail. It's mostly marsh and tall reeds. There is a trail lined with trees but unfortunately the time of day I visited the sun was beating down and didn't give us much shade. If you are adventurous and aren't cranky in the heat, I still advise to bring lots of water. Parking is plentiful in the dirt lot and there's a bathroom (doesn't flush just a hole) at the start of the trail.

great spot to walk around & take my younger cousin to get of the phone lmao. lots of nature, not many animals to be worried about, and a couple benches here and there. i will say they could use a few more of those benches and maybe a water station somewhere for long walkers.

This place is great!! Such a beautiful place to take a hike, explore nature, watch the birds and dragon flies surround you. We even saw a couple Egrot's (birds) which was pretty cool. The rangers gave us some insight on these types of birds and directed us to them. Every half a mile they have benches you can sit and look out and watch the ducks or the river which was nice. We hiked 4.5 miles and enjoyed every second! The rangers even drove by to ask if we needed water and we were okay. I thought that was a sweet gesture. We definitely look forward to coming back next month. Definitely spray yourself with bug spray , those mesquites love to bite. If you haven't gone, go now! You won't be disappointed!

Absolutely easy and beautiful nature trail. We brought our kids who are 7 and 9. There were lots of bunnies and quail, the occasional hummingbirds and blue birds. It's peaceful and there were hardly any people trail walking. We felt like we had the place to ourselves which is nice. I hate crowds and this was a pleasant walk. Highly recommend. :)

It just seemed like we were walking aroubd on someone's huge, dirty property. There was a swamp area that smelled of decomposing bodies. Not at all what I expected of a nature park.

It was my boyfriends and I first Time at this place, since we love hiking and jogging in the out doors we wanted to give this place a try. It has plenty of space for parking and also has bathrooms. The nature trial is probably the main attraction at San Joaquin Valley Refuge. The trail is gravel paved and there is also many scenic spots with benches along the way where you can stop and rest. Along the way you can see birds, frogs, rabbits, squirrels and dragon flys, and but be aware that there are a lot of mosquitoes. I did get bit twice on my face by bugs. Nevertheless it was definitely worth the drive and I would recommend this place if your looking to go on an easy hiking trail or even an outdoor jog. Just don't forget your bug spray!

Unable to see the area because the parking lot and nearby areas are over run with mosquitoes. I've never seen so many in my life. I ran out of there so fast I nearly threw my child back in the car to avoid getting eaten alive.
