We attended this swim school for almost a year and half with two littles at very different levels. We ultimately ended up leaving to go somewhere else. Somewhere we enjoy A LOT more. Don't get me wrong, this swim school has a lot of positives:1. It's location. Right off the freeway in Elk Grove and super close to us (we are located in pocket). 2. It is indoor and heated. This is perfect for year round lessons.3. Children enjoy being in the water. So, your kids will have fun as long as they love playing in the water. Negatives:1. Price v. What you get. For what you pay per child, especially when we were paying for private lessons for our oldest, we expected more. This leads me to my next point...2. Lack of structure. Who you have as an instructor makes a HUGE difference. But when I compare the swim instructors I have encountered elsewhere, this place just falls short. They teach the bare minimum basics and you see it in the little progress your children make. After switching to a new place, our kids have flourished and I just don't believe that would have been the case had we stayed at safe splash. With some instructors, it felt like we were just paying to be in the water and use their pool. 3. Revolving door of swim instructors. Most of the instructors here are kids in high school so of course they're not going to stay forever. This is an after school, between school, summer, break, etc job. And you feel that when you're there. 4. No clear path or skill trajectory. There are no ribbons, no practicals, and no checklists that show you how your children are progressing within their own level and how to reach the next level. My kid was approaching 3 in a mommy and me class still and I had to be the one to say: so...should she try the next tot class without me? And they made it seem like that was all up to me. Like I could if I want but I was actually looking for guidance on her readiness. 5. Showers are 8 times out of 10 cold and slow to warm up. 6. You get the bare minimum. There are no fun holiday events or festivities for the kids. No open family swim options to allow for more pool access and practice.7. I was also shocked to find that safe splash was listed as a partner with Alta for one of the activities covered for children with ASD. This is actually why we left to begin with. We were told by the young girl instructor, who appeared noticeably stressed, that she basically couldn't handle our daughter who is on the spectrum because of our daughter's difficulty waiting her turn. We felt like at that point it became a safety concern for us. But all is well that ends well, and we found a great swim school for both our daughter and our younger son who followed sister to the new swim school. I only recommend this swim school if you live close, don't want to drive further away to a better one, and want year round swim lessons. It's more of a self teach model (for the toddler age group at least).

Disappointing. Definitely not worth $120 a month. Hannah is an outstanding teacher, but when she needed time off recently, her substitute just went through the motions and didn't put any effort into Teaching. This has happened before, and there does not seem to be any Managerial Oversight watching the instructors. Plus, the water seems murky. With 100+ students in the pool every day, how often is it cleaned?

I have given this place a trashy score previously! I have a change of heart because someone name Ana a new assistant manager is handling business right. The phone support center team is miscommunication and pissing customers off like me . Ana and Sophia acknowledge my issues and fixed it. Thank you for the make up token. As long as I can have Sophia, Bailey and the Ana handling this place I would re- consider re enrollment of my child. I do suggest that instructors to work on a child's weak points and promote them to the next level as parents pay a lot of money for the child to be in a one grade forever. Thanks again to the new Assistant Manager for taking care of business and making things right . I appreciate that!

My kids enjoy coming to safe splash. My issues are:- strong chlorine smell- instructors constantly changing - hard to schedule make- up classes- they only allow one make-up class. If you take two weeks of vacation then you are screwed. You still paying for the instructors for that month. - sometimes they have extra students in the group then expected.- there are times when experienced swimmer will be added to the beginner class. And the teacher takes away time focusing on other kids.- bathroom water has been cold. Wish they make sure there is warm water in the shower.

PLEASE do not start your child here if you are looking for an introduction to water or water safety. At some point, a child will get injured or even worse if something doesn't drastically change. At the price point SafeSplash charges for group lessons, one would think that this would be money well spent. I would have been better off playing the lotto or buying hundreds of dollars in lotto tickets. My two children have had no exposure to swimming and I needed a trained instructor to teach them how to be safe around bodies of water. We enrolled for "Beginner 1" the very first swimming level for a child above baby/toddler age. In half of an hour, my kids both we left unattended many times, both were treated as if they already knew how to swim and has earned that trust, both coughed up pool water, neither was taught how to hold their breath, neither was talked to about safety. The group was 3 children 1 very young adult. They spent the first TWO minutes blowing bubbles, around 20 min doing scary things like leaving 2 lids at a time unattended on a floating dock while the teacher with her back turned had the kids do various back floats and assisted jumps, 4 min free jumping and sink or swim style having them climb out with no prior instruction (mind you not waiting until they were out to move on the next child... my kid slipped and went under and NOBODY noticed, thank god she grasped and got up!!!), and the last few min grasping a wall back and forth. For over $300 for a month PRORATED and $35 per child annual fee. I immediately dis-enrolled my kids and demanded a refund. They were also quick to pre-charge me for the next month. Note: When you sign up, there is ZERO WAY to avoid auto-pay. The toggle to not elect it won't change, therefore you cannot enroll without prepayment endlessly... and they charged me a second $350+ within 10 days of our enrollment. Tip: Make sure to have your child wear shower/swim shoes with traction. OR change your child in the lobby bathroom. The changing area is slick concrete with no anti-slip mats which is an OSHA and ADA violation and also concrete is a breeding ground for athletes foot. Pros: N/A

My daughter learned swimming and she liked her instructors a lot. Sometimes there was only my daughter in the session and I felt safe because the instructor focused on her only. However, when it's group of three and the instructor just teach one kid at a time, then the other kids just hang out on the bench in the water without direct supervision from their instructor. Thus, it's not safe for the kids.

We're so excited to start classEs here next week. Today was their open house so we had an opportunity to check out the facility and meet the staff. They have a seating area for the kids and TVs in the lobby area. Took advantage of the 8 week bundle. So excited!! Welcome to Elk Grove!!

The following is my review of the Midtown location, but it sounds like the same story as Elk Grove. Also, for the people who are getting burned by the auto-pay, you can call your credit card company to do chargebacks/disputes and/or have the credit card company block future charges from SafeSplash.Don't go here. They cancel classes without notice. You don't get consistent swim instructors, so your child won't learn very well, and it's very expensive at $27 per 30-minute session which includes a total of 4 kids (which means that your kid is doing nothing for about half the session).I signed my kid up for swim lessons. They canceled 3 weekly lessons in 4 weeks. Two times, they did not notify me the instructor wasn't showing up until AFTER the class was supposed to begin. Another time, they sent an email 30 minutes prior to the start of class AFTER I was already in my car driving to the class. This is unacceptable. The first couple times, they did not provide an excuse, but the most recent instance, they claimed the instructor was sick. I'm unsure if their instructors are so irresponsible that they routinely no-call, no-show for work or if their management is so poor at communication that they fail to notify their customers when a class will be canceled.I spoke to other parents at the classes, and they agreed that 1) this is very expensive, and 2) there's a lack of consistency in instructors, so their kids were not progressing. And, of course, when all is said and done, they're refusing to give me my money back for these canceled classes. They just tell me to reschedule my kid for another class at a different time; however, this does not work for me. The other times are in the middle of the day in the middle of the week, and I have a job to work.

This review is actually for the Folsom location but there was not a business page there to leave the review. They use a call center for any issues and the call center is extremely limited as to what they can do. We encountered many issues that repeatedly caused our child to not be allowed to participate in his class, issues scheduling make ups, and issues getting him in the right class. For the lesson he was able to do, there were always issues - not on the roster, people showing up thinking they were in the private class due to improper scheduling. Overall, the place completely lacks organization. I spent so much time on the phone trying to correct issues because there were constantly problems. Hands down would not recommend this place.

Classes are small instructors are patient and kind. My reluctant swimmer asked to go back the next day. We get progress report with skills they are working on. The pool is separated from parents which is amazing I can watch through a window but my kids does feel like they can whine or talk to me throughout lesson.
