We dropped by originally around Halloween and Rafe gave us and a few other folks a tour of the place, and gave us some dessert samples from the brunch buffet that day, which was really nice. The dessert samples were pretty good and so we wanted to come back to try the brunch buffet. We ended up making reservations for the Thanksgiving brunch buffet. I had very low expectations, but honestly it was really good and we're looking forward to coming back next year, as well as coming back sooner to try the regular brunch buffet they have I think almost every Sunday. Brunch reservations were for 10:30, but they ran a little late, which we were also prepared for, and the staff is super nice, so it was fine. Once it started, we had a great selection to choose from:Green bean casserole: solid! I wouldn't get this again, only because there are other buffet items I would want to prioritize, but it was good! Mashed potatoes: same as the green bean casserole. Stuffing: I've never had stuffing with apples in it before, but it was very good! I usually prefer a stuffing filled with gizzards :) While this was salty and delicious, in buffet mode, this carb-heavy treat was not my priority, but I would have to still get a little bit again next time!Candied yams: These were my favorite! A savory dessert, basically a crustless sweet potato pie Would definitely get this again.Turkey: I will definitely have to grab a bunch more of the dark meat next time because it was tender, juicy, and delicious, but we didn't see more of it come out. Perfectly paired with the homemade cranberry sauce, which might be the best cranberry sauce I've had ever (not bitter, just the right sweetness for me, though I have a heavier sweet tooth). Ham: you could taste the bourbon glaze and I really liked it. It was tender and very salty, so I could only eat two pieces, but I would definitely put this on my plate again next time. Prime rib: I was excited for this, but it did disappoint. I ate the outsides because they were chewable and fatty (reminded me a little of char siu), but most of it was really tough and I couldn't chew it.Creamed corn: decent! I would get just a tiny bit of this again (I love starchy foods like corn and potatoes but my body does not). I should have added a little pepper to my serving! There was also a standard selection of cut fruit (strawberries, melons, pineapple, grapes), which were good. I didn't try the rolls, but they looked and smelled delicious. On the dessert table was what appeared to be apple pie, pumpkin pie, whipped cream, pecan bread pudding, and creme brulee. I could only fit half a pecan bread pudding and TWO creme brulees into my stomach and it was worth it. I wish I could've eaten it all the first creme brulee was perfection: caramelized, crunchy with luxuriously smooth custard. The second one was also very tasty, though not as smooth. The bread pudding was basically a white cake with carmelized pecans and a thick caramel sauce smothered on it, all roughed up together. I liked it a lot! I just couldn't fit it all into my stomach lol I wish the kale salad would have come out sooner, but I was too full to try it when it did come out! Next time! We started our day watching the resident peacocks roaming the grounds, had a great meal, and then went to walk/digest and watch even more birds at Cosumnes River Preserve (it's migration season!). Thankful for the great food, service, and the great tday weather. Would definitely come back to try brunch sometime, and look forward to next year's Thanksgiving brunch.

We are not allowed to give zero stars, so one it is. DO NOT GO HERE!!! Talk about a weird and horrible experience. This place was suggested as a place to stay for a wedding that we we're going to. I called to make a reservation and I was told that I would not get a confirmation number, no email or anything. They simply told me to show up. Fast forward to the day of the wedding and I arrived with my family. The outside looked similar to the pictures but just 30 years older. When I walked in to "reception" I walked into a dark room with a gate closed around the reception area. No one in sight. I ended up walking around the entire property, looking for an employee and I never found one. I asked the only person I saw, if they worked there but unfortunately they didn't speak English. I walked up the stairs to see a hallway with fans, dirty floors and just an overall very creepy vibe. My youngest daughter started telling us she was scared and we decided to get in our car, book a nearby Hilton and never look back. This place should be condemned.

Great atmosphere with a lot of history, fast friendly service. Use to come here years ago and it had been good.We were with a small group and we all had issues. The prime rib was cooked to perfection, however it was stone cold, as were the potatoes. The chicken had absolutely no flavor and was also stone cold.A few of use stayed the night, the rooms are dated, dirty and noisy. We are in no hurry to return.

My wife and I have been going to their Sunday brunch for several years, it has declined in food and service drastically, management has reduced the staff to a bartender and one waitress, they tried their best but the kitchen was ill prepared, the food from the buffet was below average, very sad, it was much better in the past, we will not return!

The historical significance of this venue finds itself woven into the Delta's significant history at multiple points in countless timelines. The kitchen staff is truly award winning and I hope they receive the recognition in talent that they possess.

Don't take reservations then cancel six hours ahead of time. Sell the place to someone who is interested in getting it up and running as it could be a really lovely place to have a Sunday Champagne Brunch. Get a good chef and menu, then people will come.

I'd give it 5 stars but we did not spend the night, so I can't speak for the rooms. We dropped in to look at it and ask about brunch and got an extensive personal tour from someone who turned out to be the chef (and manager?). It has a ton of history and is mostly renovated beautifully, with more renovations ongoing. The Sunday brunch was excellent, and the price was good. The "Central Valley Chicken" with all ingredients local, including olive oil and capers, was the standout for me, but it was all great. The staff is friendly and attentive. It's more than 100 years old, and some of that shows. If that bothers you, don't go, but we loved it and plan to visit again.

Sorry to say, but please BOYCOTT this business until some new owner can try again. They ruined my daughter's honeymoon. They knew her father and I reserved the honeymoon suite for them for Saturday and Sunday night, with reservations for Sunday brunch as well. I made the reservation well in advance and called to confirm the day before. I was told that all was well. The happy couple arrived about 6 PM Saturday evening to a pitch dark, locked and deserted facility. The gate was locked, and they were not answering the phone...WHAT?A worker finally appeared as he was leaving and told them the Ryde was closed for renovation. Someone finally returned my husband's frantic recorded message asking what was going on. They said to stay there and someone would open up a cottage for them. Are you kidding me? A dark deserted building. Nobody to greet them or provide any service? Wait around in the cold and the dark? No. Just No. They ended up at a Best Western at a truck stop by the freeway. For their honeymoon. After a beautiful wedding. NO.When they called the Ryde the next morning to find out what happened, they were told that we would be charged since we "cancelled" the reservation. What Nerve. How rude. The opposite of hospitality. Inexcusable. They were LOCKED OUT. No Instructions, no warning. You at the Ryde, how dare you. You all deserve to be fired. The owner needs to go away. We do not need your mean spirited incompetence ruining a beautiful, historic place. You ruined what was supposed to be a once in a lifetime treasured event and memory.Your conduct is UNFORGIVEABLE.
