One of my favorite and most frequented places in Lodi, especially on by days off of work to get pastries, their Croque open-faced sandwich, and coffee. Somehow I spend $30+ each time I hit it.They bake their own breads and pastries! Ambiance: There's always a line inside for the counter but it moves pretty quickly--get there by 1pm to get the best selection of their pastries each day. Multiple small tables for little meet-ups or to finish coffee/food that generally open up quickly as people finish upMy Favorite Items: - Croque Monsieur ($13) : My favorite thing (I don't even order their made-to-order sandwiches when they have this ready) -- the housemade sourdough bread slice is always crusty with the savory rosemary ham, oozy mildly-greasy gruyere cheese. They have a sundried tomato bechamel that makes it so that it isn't dry but isn't too messy to eat. For vegetarians, they have a veggie version!- Seasonal Danish: Some people go for the flaky croissants but I like the eat-ability of the flat flaky danish for. The filling is seasonal but they usually have their vanilla/lemon curd and it's *chef's kiss*- Coffee Cake: Always has the best crumble on top and the cake is always moist! - Chocolate Chip Cookie: Large, slightly crispy but plenty of chocolate chips!

Pros:- everything made in shop and OUTSTANDING - staff is so friendly- local and not a chain- coffee always perfectly done- wheelchair accessible bathroomRoom for improvement:- it's a very tiny space and it's always packed. Often times hard finding a table- definitely time to expand location or add an additional location- tables quite close togetherTips:- get a fresh baked bread!- parking can be tricky because shop is located off a Main Street and parking lot next to it is for the physical therapy clinic next door - too busy to be a study/work place unless that kind of atmosphere works for you!Overall:- amazing food, coffee and service- they bring a bright, happy and local flair to Lodi

Why is this place so good? Is it the excellent customer interaction, always friendly and welcoming but not in a fake or artificial sweetener kinda way?Is it because they have the most excellent quality of house coffee. A legit brew that truly enhances the excellent morning options? Is it the glossy, flaky, glass-like shards of croissant that must come close to the kind you find in that kinda famous city in France? Maybe! All I can say is go get Ruby's ASAP if you have never been. People in Lodi don't talk about it because they don't like sharing their hidden gem of a shop that may be the best bakery in the Sac and San Joaquin Valley. If you know Ariscault and Tartine in the City you know what I'm talking about ...

I ate at the famous Pietro's this week, twice, and had some of the bread they served. One is baked in-house, the other, was sliced sourdough. Wow. Found out they get it at Rudy's. Well, I sought it out.Holy. The green chile-cheese filled croissant with everything was unbelievably good. The cranberry-orange scone devine. But the bread, huge and $12 was worth every penny.More about the bread: i had it right from the bag, with butter, as a sandwich...and I'm totally in love with it. It has a little something extra that is a truly memorable bread. The only thing I had that wasn't 5 star was the drip coffee, and the gf agreed with her latte, bitter.

Go for the amazing croissants. Nice golden color, flaky crust, light and airy interior with a deliciously rich and buttery flavor! The ham and cheese quiche didn't have the light and creamy texture I wanted so I'd skip those next time. The coffee is also more on the acidic side for my taste. Staff are friendly and efficient. There are many tables for dining as well as an area in the hallway you can sit at as well, however, please be aware this place gets busy. Cute art is hung all along the walls. Oh, and don't forget to grab some sourdough to take home! You can see the kitchen staff working hard making yummy breads and pastries!

Cute bakery, great place to escape the heat during the Lodi street fair.Sugar buns with orange zest were great with flaky buttery layers topped with textured sugar. The cold brew and iced latte were OK, they were refreshing to cool us down after walking around the fair . Ample seating area with clean bathroom.

"This is the best cheesecake I've ever had."My friend said this 5 bites into the lemon cheesecake. The curd topping, smooth cheesecake, slightly sweet whip and yummy crust all work together perfectly. This place is better than Ettore's or Freeport Bakery--and we've ordered 100's of times from both. Less crowded and less hipster with really good pastries! Almost didn't post to keep this place a secret.

I was in the area and wanted to get a quick pastry and coffee. I remember my friend recommending this spot so had to try it. The coffee items are pretty basic as they did not have caramel flavored coffee. I ending up getting the mocha latte and it was pretty good. I got a chocolate croissant and it was so flaky, buttery, and soft with chocolate chunks. It was so good! The service was great. As soon as we/or anyone walked in, we were greeted. It is a pretty busy place in the morning and it gets pretty loud. With that said, there isn't much seating. I will definitely go back and try some more pastries!

Nice and cool inside on this hot hot day. I really like their hazelnut twist pastry and their Chocolate Chip cookies are heavenly. The young lady who rung me up was very pleasant. Never a bad day at Ruby's!

The first time I visited this place I loved the vibe inside. Everything was so clean. The staff was so friendly and just very welcoming. I had tried their avocado toast and it was delicious. I also had a chai latte which was a little on the unsweet side, so it was perfect for me since I am trying to lose some weight lol. And then I went the second time to purchase a sourdough bread loaf. It was a little hard on the outside, but still very delicious after I warmed it up it had gotten soft.(by the way, it was a to go order.) overall it's a very cute place to visit for breakfast lunch or just a girls day out, definitely recommend.
