I've been a long time patron of Rancho. Hoping new ownership would make a difference unfortunately it has not. Raising rates given the condition of the course is a huge mistake. Removing cash is another misstep. Learn to listen to the members and not turn them away

Rancho Del Rey won't take any awards for their course maintenance or manicured greens. It's just a fun place to go with friends and practice your short game. Yet I am writing this review because of Dave the "Marshall" this guy will harass you from hole 1 up until you leave the course, while stalking you throughout your time there to make sure to ruin your day.

I hope the resurgence of golf allows local Golf Courses to stay in business, Rancho Del Rey included. I remember reading a few years back this course was almost sold to a development company. Hopefully that never happens, golf courses are such important part of a community. That being said, Rancho Del Rey is a fun local course, but the greens leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully with more people playing golf, extra revenue can go towards better maintenance. To me, this place has always been a little pricey, but everything is pricey these days. Support your local course!

Started golfing about a year ago, love Rancho's course. Best in the 209. Unfortunately the old man skip is the only disappointment to this place. Poor attitude poor customer service skills. 2 golfers made both pay cart price but wouldn't give both of us carts and had to mumble under his breath while we were leaving giving us a hard time about it. Finished our back 9 to see a group of 4 each with carts. Every chain has its weakest link and he is definitely that.

If you like golfing on the worst course in a 100 mile radius with NEW rates that don't justify the actual course then you came to the right place. Pro: new carts, some patched cart paths, the awesome staff (the staff is amazing) they keep the place going the best they can with the new poorly money minded owner(who is learning how to golf so he doesn't respect the sport) Cons: breakfast is only when the kitchen is staffed, CASHLESS establishment ( yes you read that right your hard worked for cash will not be accepted here) can you tip the bartender with cash I don't know now they may get yelled at. Rates went up $20 more to justify the new carts, the breakfast, the new lawn mower, the security cameras, the new cashless system, BUTTT the actual course still needs plenty of work. The actual reason you pay $60 is to play on a course that is not up to a $60 standard yet. You might hit a root, your ball may be in one of the million holes throughout the fairways, you might hit a rock. A random fish replaced the course record plaque that once hung in the bar, a random fish not golf related! This course is a staple to many locals and unfortunately the new owner doesn't care, he rather make a cent here and ignore there. They don't want your cash so I wouldn't support this course anymore till the new owners can open their eyes and realize they are losing dollars cause they want to increase their "stock portfolio" and not their product! Do better or sell the joint to someone who appreciates the community, the culture and the sport.

I recently played at Rancho Del Rey. What the course lacked in maintenance, was more than made up for by the friendly staff. The front desk was very helpful, and I especially liked a Marshall I met named Dave. Although my interaction with him was brief he made me feel like family. Dave was kind enough to answer a few questions I had about the area and even provided me with a few tips on the upcoming holes. I usually shoot low 90's but actually shot an 88! I attribute this to Dave. I plan on returning to this course again soon.

I love playing Rancho when I visit my hometown. There aren't many public courses in the area anymore, and Rancho does not disappoint. The new owners are doing a fantastic job of improving and keeping up the course and the Marshall's do a great job of keeping up the pace of game and rules of the course without being jerks. Marshall Dave even offered to deliver my food order at the turn to me so that I wouldn't hold up the people behind me! Plus, he was a character and lively presence on the course. All of the staff is fantastic. I go to my hometown a few times a year and always make sure to book a tee time. I read the other reviews and it seems those players don't understand terms like "pace of play" and what a Marshall's actual job is. Such a shame for a true gem in the Central Valley.

I'm am disgusted by "Marshall" Dave! He is beyond rude and does not allow you to play comfortably. He was watching my every little move and made me beyond stressed. Might as well drive by and honk at me...this course is NOT worth it. This " man"is insulting insulting and patronizing and I didn't feel comfortable with him. I know he was watching me and as a woman, I would NOT recommend it. Not sure, how he is employed here and how he represents the company, disgusting.

Worst shape golf in the area by far. The Saturday day morning Course Marshall was rude, insulting and made us very uncomfortable as he popped on several of our holes. He even went as to tell my 70 year old father in law that the balls were not getting hit far enough and was taking too many swings. "Too hurry up". Very rude and unprofessional. Definitely would be someone that I would not want employed at my business. The drive to a farther course is definitely worth not being harassed.

Batting cages are never open. We waited and called and someone always told us it was open then we get there and it's locked up. It's not state of the art as the site says, very run down and looks like it's not even useable. I have asked if I should make an appointment but I was told multiple times "it's open." It's not!
