This review is for the annual crab and shrimp feed! Our office was lucky to attend this amazing event! If you've been to crab feeds in the past (this was my first, but I was prepped by professionals ahead of time), this crab feed beats the rest! There were 2000 people this night and 7,000 lbs of crab! Unlike other crab feeds (so I'm told), they offer lemons, cocktail sauce, and even melted butter! The starters included some bread, a delicious an aromatic house salad, and a red meat sauce pasta. After that, loads of cold boiled shrimp and dungeness crab continues to come and come and come! Volunteers are constantly cleaning out the buckets, bringing more food, and keeping you comfortable! Music was brought to us live by the Taylor Chicks, who were phenomenal, and raffles, and drinks were offered by purchase of tickets! Will definitely comeI back if given another opportunity!

I went to project ride for a school trip and I had a blast! We got to handle two horses: Luck and Magic. Magic was pretty rowdy at first since he's new to the crowd. Luck is pretty experienced and used to being around people. We got to groom, palpate, take pulses, and walk the horses. It was my first time around horses and I was slightly nervous but the horse I mainly worked on, luck, made it a lot easier for me.Project RIDE also tends to special needs students by allowing them to work with the horses and such so I thought that was pretty awesome. It's a great learning experience and I feel everyone should give it a shot if you can. They allow volunteers here too!

This review is for the annual crab feed. Such a huge event. All the food is so good; salad, bread, pasta, shrimp, crab, red velvet cake, wine. Lots of great raffle prizes, bar, live music. Hundreds of volunteers to make it all happen.

I was first introduced to Project Ride in the early 2000's. We have had students served by Project RIDE, as they were attending Jessie Baker school. I knew it about it LONG before I became an Elk Grove resident. In the summer of 2007, my special needs pre-teen nearly died when she experienced a malfunction in her cranial device. At the time, she was on the "waiting list" for Project RIDE. While in recovery, her spot on the list became available. For the next 3 years, Project RIDE became a weekly part of our lives. I was raised with horses, and rode avidly as a young person, and young adult. With that history, I was able to train and volunteer as a Horse Leader for the years that my Daughter was a client. Her life was ever changed by the MIRACLE that is equine therapy, it literally changed her life.Hours and hours of my time have been served as a volunteer. As a handler, side walker, clean up girl, trainer, Captain for Crab Feed, and for the past few years as an "Unofficial/Official Photographer" for events as they need me. Tina, Michelle, Marissa became not just friends, but family. My heart will always belong to this program, and I will JUMP at the chance to volunteer when asked.Moonie, Princess, Bubba were my ALL time favorite friends in fur.I highly recommend Project RIDE. Please work with your service coordinator, or advocate to ensure that this wonderful place becomes part of your child's development practice!

My family and I went to their spaghetti dinner this last weekend and meet a group of people, mostly volunteers who really make the difference. Its always nice to see the actions of people help others especially those who need the help. I think this is a great group of people who really are fulfilling a higher calling.I will help support them to by joining their fund raising dinners, auctions and raffles.

Yet another one of the amazing charities and non-profit services I've discovered during my time in Sacramento. Project Ride is particularly close to my heart because they, like me, find that a deeper connection and interaction with animals is really the best therapy out there. They've provided therapeutic recreational horseback riding instruction to hundreds of children and adults with special needs over the years. I've met some of their volunteers and they just radiate passion for this cause. Judging from the stream of accolades and praise they've received, it's safe to say that what they're doing works and works fabulously. Their facility is a little out of the way but well-worth the visit for those seeking their services or just curious!

Our Happy place & we look forward to celebrating each event and weekly riding lessons here for our girl. My family participates from Leading & Sidewalking horses to helping set up for events, gather donations & getting weekly riding lessons and Equine therapy has dramatically improved our daughter's core strength, coordinator, & skills as she has learned to ride week by week. See ya at the barn! Come & Volunteer with us!

This place is great in my opinion. They help kids (and adults) to gain confidence through a horse ride. This is a non-profit place that solely runs on volunteers and donations. Just going and volunteering here will make you feel a sense of pride that you are doing something for the community. I have volunteered here before. When you go here, you will understand what makes this place so special. Seeing that children will actually develop through the horses (people got teary eye'd). See the website yourself: http://www.projectride.org/ . Definitely a place to donate some time if you have any.

The volunteer opportunities seem great but I was denied entry to one just because I didn't have a liability form and although I completely understand safety concerns and what not, I wasted time to drive out then have to go back home right after. I am very disappointed because my dad was there and he would have signed another liability form but the check in lady said no, "you have to be on my list, your teacher should have sent the forms out already" and this was for the Spaghetti feed today. After that she told me "well there is another opportunity in January you can do" but I will definitely never volunteer for this place again.

This is a heartwarming place with a very cordial, friendly staff and volunteers. The barn has a welcoming calmness and the positive experience and interaction with the horses has made a great impact on my grandson, one who seems to have found pleasure in this new activity. It's not a daily occurrence for him to get excited about an activity hence we are happy he asks to keep going back. Reader, please take it from a grandma - give yours a chance to help them flourish by using these services. I'm grateful to all that make an impact on a child's life and for their selfless services.
