I had a downrigger outlet that was installed with the polarity reversed and it was in a tight spot I couldn't get to . Called Ken Porter and he came out to my boat and not only fixed the problem in record time but he also installed the protective hoods on each terminal that the dealership had neglected to do. Couldn't be happier.

Hands down best place by far. Fair prices, quality work and turnaround time far better than any other shop. All my friends and family use Ken Porter for their boating needs and sometimes even car and jet ski needs. His experience is wide spread. Ken is personable and honest. I highly recommend this shop.

Taking my boat to a mechanic used to give me images of my bank account as a desolate, wind-swept desert with old boat engine parts strewn about with massive price tags on them - until I went to Porter's Precision. I have been taking my ski boat to Porter's Precision for 3 years now and have always found it an easy and painless process. While any part with "marine" in it's name is typically twice the cost of the same automotive part, Porter's makes the process much easier to manage. They're a friendly bunch of people and I get the genuine feeling they have your best interests in mind.

They winterized and shrink wrapped my boat this past season and I was very happy with the service. The boat stayed dry all winter instead. My boat started up right away when I dropped her in the lake this Spring. The location is behind the lake off Salmon Falls but very close to Folsom EDH and easier than going to Rancho

Porter's precision is a lifesaver. We were taking our cars out for a spin down Salmon Falls Road and then our friends car just happened to break down right near Porter's Precision. We stopped by to see if they could help us out in a jiffy and they were so welcoming and warm. We ended up staying a while and we were helped the whole time with a smile. A bad thing turned into a good thing thanks to Porter Precision.

Great experience and service! I took an older 6 hp Mercury outboard engine that was difficult to start, and Ken diagnosed and fixed the problem for a very fair price. I highly recommend Porter's Precision!

I'm not really sure what happened, since the rest of the reviews are great and that is why I went to them initially. Appointments and getting in were easy. I told the woman on the phone I needed an inspection and to fix whatever was wrong. This was a new boat to us and we wanted to make sure it was safe for our family. We are also new boat owners. I dropped off my boat on 10/2 everything seemed fine. I was told it would be sometime the following week. Great. We get a call on 10/8 they didn't have they key to the boat so we ran up there to bring it, in the mean time they found a key that fit and they checked it out. Great! Here is where it gets really weird and honestly uncomfortable. I paid the bogus inspection fee of $190 cash as I was told what was wrong with the boat and the immediate fixable things were needs a bearing, oil change, spark plugs and some new seals. There was a younger gentleman and older gentleman. I said ok I'd like to fix what we can please. Older gentleman gave me a quote of $789 for just the seals and I said ya that's fine let's get that done and anything else. He looked at me for awhile and smiled and called to the younger gentleman and said "hey do you feel like putting in some new seals?" The younger gentleman said " ya maybe if it cools off" ya maybe? Really? They wanted me to take my boat home and come back when it was "cooler" and "if" the younger gentleman wanted to do it. My husband and I were so upset we told them we'd just call later. What is the point of taking my boat to a mechanic and having it inspected if they REFUSE don't the work. I guess they don't want more business and it was so u professional I don't have words. We asked 2 questions (3 including can we get these items fixed this week) and were made to feel really stupid from the older guy because we asked them. NOT everyone is an expert owner and not everyone understands mechanical language and some people need an explanation. You guys are the professionals. Very disappointed in this company and it's ability to fix things. We were told they would do it when they feel like it and that schedule doesn't work for me. The whole reason i brought the boat to them was to inspect it and fix it. So now, they stole $190 from me because they refused to fix it and now I have to find another mechanic, pay them an inspection fee and have it fixed there. Not cool. I want my $190 back. Our contract was to inspect and fix the issues. I paid $190 for absolutely nothing and a bogus inspection that took exactly 19 minutes. Very disappointing. Definitely will not be back. If I had used a credit card I'd be disputing the charge.

Their website claims all kind of custom stuff and they work on many different boats and engines and drives,, but they should list manufacture years that they do. So if you have an older boat I wouldn't waste my time in contacting them they should change their website from what I saw a do all be all boat shop to we only do everything for new boats!!!

Ken Porter knows what he's doing. After my previous mechanic robbed me (literally), I went back to my Chaparral dealer, Brother's Boats, begging for help. I was denied service even though they are an authorized Chap dealer and repair shop. I later found Ken Porter who was willing to take the job. I brought him my Chap 216ssi with a 5.7 merc with bravo III half disassembled, missing parts, and internally rusted from being left in the rain with no heads on. Within a reasonable amount of time he completely tore it apart, machined it, and re-assembled it for less than the cost of a new motor. This was over a year ago and today it still runs like new. I will never go anywhere else. I hope he stays in business forever!

Took the boat to Porters, big mistake. They were to repair shift cable, in the process broke the tilt cable, supposed to replace the cables, but after taking in lake once shifter was worse than when we took it to Porters. Had to to take to another boat repair service to learn they had not replaced cables at all motor mounts were loose and shifter cable needed to be replaced, which is what we supposedly paid Porters to complete
