Chocolate cake
Merlot #2 hole
Nice view and big bunker
Poison all over the course..
Zinfandel greens had maybe a dozen deep lines going across the entire green which made hitting any type of pure putt impossible.
9th hole for Zinfindel

Breakfast sandwich with potatoes

This course used to be fantastic, the crown jewel of the NCGA. Unfortunately it has become a shell of its former self. And while some adjustment of expectations is warranted given the construction, it's just a really rough experience at the moment. Skeleton crew staff, no marshalls, had to hunt people down to get a cart, groundskeeping is MIA, fairways look like an airport muni course at this point. Lots of strange holes where you find yourself hitting into others or visa versa. There's also zero services or restrooms on the course, no ball wash stands, it's become a zombie course, I'm surprised the staff still shows up. Personally will avoid playing here until they start taking things seriously again.

A lovely afternoon overlooking the Poppy Ridge Golf Course. The cafe offers breakfast and lunch items, as well as chocolate cake as their desert. My breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese, tomatoes, and onions on sourdough bread was flavorful. The chocolate cake was moist and delicious. They offer their space for events, and weddings, as well as their popular golf course.

I only ever visit Poppy Ridge for their restaurant (The Grill) purely for the great ambiance and view it provides, so this review is on that. In summary, the food is indeed very pricy and is a solid 2/5 but it does the job if you're just looking to have brunch with a good vibe and great service. They expanded the menu significantly from the last time I visited (about 2 years ago) which impressed me a lot. Prices are rather steep here for the quality you get unfortunately.I ordered the Chicken Cilantro Pesto Panini ($17) with their seasoned fries as a side. The chicken was difficult to bite without it all just coming with you in one piece, and tasted as though it lacked seasoning. There's a chipotle aioli meant to be on the sandwich but I didn't taste any spice from this at all either. :(I'd definitely steer clear of the restaurant if you're looking to get a good meal in. Fortunately the servers are really great and attentive, so that made up for our visit (as did the view)!

Two of nines closed redesign. What remains is cobbled together mashup of merlot and Zinfandel that you play twice for 18.As ncga member paid $70 for Sunday twilight. Greens are slow, short holes. I'd pay $45. Not worth it any more as a golf destination Might be nice when all fixed just not now.

Well....I filled out the review questionnaire that arrived in my email yesterday evening. Today my golfing friend received a "no show" notification!!!! What?! I gave the course10's in the review.......except the confusion between the pro shop tee time and the starter did NOT have us on the tee sheet. The starter sent us out anyway (yay!)Here's the pic to prove we were there. Let's get it together Poppy Ridge~ please we truly had a fun day. So let's fix this glitch in communication making tee times. Thank you!

Highly suggest reading before playing the course. We arrived at the course to find it almost completely under construction, it was a shock. Myself and 2 other golfers set out to play on May 15, 2024 expecting the usual exceptional course. The website mentioned that the driving range and "composite nine" was open. Not knowing which nine holes they "composited together," we assumed nothing unusual. Without any information from the pro shop when checking in, I would expect the same amenities, standard course length and play available as usual. The composite nine that was open, None of the par 4 holes breached 300 yards from the white tees, it was rare if they exceeded 250. And it did not offer any par fives. There was no bathrooms available on the course, no water, no cleaning stations. Views were obscured and filled with views of "construction". With all the lack of standard facilities and communication to patrons, especially after checking in at the pro shop, I am shocked that we were still charged full price. Paid $96 for "sub-par" 9 hole course, repeating the first 9 to complete 18 holes. Overall, the experience was less than ideal, especially for the price they charge. You're far better off at Las Positas course, and for less money. We would even rather play at Fremont Park golf course, and that's saying a lot!! AND, you could play at Fremont 4x for same cost a single round at Poppy... yikes! That's our official review, check it out at your own risk.

Definitely one of the best courses in the area. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.CONDITION:The course is always well maintained. The greens roll and the grass is cut nicely. When its not to windy, this is one of the best courses in the east bay! The holes use the natural curvature of the hills as a defense, making your lies different every shot. Additionally, they have some nice elevation changes with some nice elevated tea boxes and uphill holes. Lots of variety and well thought out!PACE OF PLAY:Can be a bit slow. But not the worse in the area. Typically around 4:30.RANGE:All grass range. Need to pay and not included with round. But its always in good condition and love practicing on real grass!FOOD:Typically bar type food and to-go food on the turn. Quick and easy, but nothing special.OVERALL:Must play in the east bay! Warning: can get very hot in the summer with no shade coverings.

A Fantastic Bridal Shower Lunch at Poppy Ridge Golf Course! We had the absolute best time celebrating a ladies' bridal shower lunch at the Grill at Poppy Ridge Golf Course! The venue itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere made for the perfect setting for such a special occasion.A special shoutout to Blake, our waiter, who truly went above and beyond. He was professional, attentive, and had an incredible knack for anticipating our needs. The timing was flawless, and he helped make the event feel seamless and relaxed. We were there for a while, and Blake's service made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Thank you so much, Blake, for your exceptional hospitality! The Grill menu had an amazing variety of options, and every single one of us (16 ladies in total) thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Delicious food, great service, and a beautiful setting -- what more could we ask for? Highly recommend Poppy Ridge for any special event!

Range is always kept in good condition. Putting green and chipping area are fantastic. The composite 9 currently is great for a quick 9.Food is too expensive for what it is. Also needs more beer options.

First time back to Poppy Ridge since they re-opened. The composite 9 course requires a lot of attention. Greens are nice and in good shape. The rest of the composite 9 is full of weeds and white dandelions everywhere you look, hard to even find your ball in the fairway. Very disappointing, as this used to be one of my favorite courses in the bay area. I hope they can improve the conditions, and I sure hope the new 18 is much better!
