Attended a birthday party here and it was awesome! Very clean, lots of lifeguards, good amount of shade and chairs, clean bathrooms. Kids loved the water slide, diving board, kiddie pool! I'm already looking into hosting my own kids' birthday parties here!

This review pertains to this year as this will be the last time I'm referring our group community event coordinators or taking my children to it ever again. I'm not sure if it is lack of training, leadership or experience but the lifeguards here are way too much. I understand if it's a question of safety because they have to do their job, but hearing a whistle blown every 5 seconds for simple things like splashing when a kid is literally swimming or getting yelled at because you put your arm around your friend, or whistle blown at you for sitting on the side of the pool with your legs in the water, was just too much for us to even entertain staying longer. At the corner of the pool where I was sitting, a child got reprimanded for splashing (mind you there were NO other children around him within 6 feet) when he went underwater to try to do a handstand. He was told if he does it again, he's going to have to get out of the pool and sit next to the lifeguard for 5 minutes. My son was helping his brother out of the pool by the staircase and got kicked out for 5 minutes because "you're not supposed to touch anyone else when you're in the pool". What about parents holding their kids? Is that no okay? A group of kids were standing by the divider rope and one rested their arm on it and instead of warning them about trying to keep off of it they were told they were going to be asked to leave if it happens again...I mean come on. Are they supposed to go to the pool and stand still?! No swimming allowed?!...in a pool?Again, my review is for this particular year because in previous years it has not been this bad. Unfortunately I'll never know if it'll get better...from now on, I'd rather take them to Folsom.

We came here for the first time and I understand the rules, but the lifeguard seemed like he was 10 years old - and he was pretty much yelling at my 2 year old to stop running. She is 2 for Christ sakes. They blow their whistle every 3 seconds for the stupidest things..... I could go on another it it... I think they need more mature life guards on duty.

We've done swim lessons here for years. Last year we had great instructors, this year not so much. It was really sad to be leaving lessons one day and overhear the instructor talking about how much he doesn't like teaching and that he is going to "retire" after this season. Fortunately he was the instructor we liked the least so maybe we wont have him next year. The price and location work for us so we will come back and we really like the pool itself. Hopefully we'll get better instructors next year. Its a great pool to just come and swim or have your littles go to the activity pool.

It's got just enough in this small town to beat the heat. There's a diving board, a one sided basketball hoop, a small wading area for the toddlers (and a separate are for the toddlers with slides), one bigger slide for all ages, and at least 5 lifeguards at all times. It's right next door to a nice park and playground and there's plenty of parking. You can bring food in or have a picnic. My only qualm is that EVERYONE has to pay, even if you're not swimming.

I only found out about the morning swim about 3 weeks ago. I'm sorry to have missed the first month. Thank you for having this available! I suffered a traumatic injury a couple years ago and have been unable to exercise because of it. Swimming laps in the early AM has been beneficial and absolutely wonderful. Everyone is kind and will help you with any questions you may have. I highly recommend this as a way to start your day! Fantastic.

I like the pool and area very much but the water is just too cold for a heated pool. I can only swim for a short time and start shivering. It is the coldest "heated pool" I have ever been at. Please turn the temperature up so we can enjoy it more and stay longer.

Sad to report that this pool was closed twice for "fecal events" twice during swim lesson week with grandkids recently. My adult kids learned to swim here and my grandkids have always had quality experiences here previously. There are lots of toddlers wading in with just shorts on, so accidents likely. The toddler pool area is nice for the little kids and staff do a great job, but the cancellation of one whole day of swim lessons and a 30 minute public swim day back to back disappointing!

The only reason for one star is the limited pool season that ends beginnng of August, the hottest month. No weekday public swim! Reason is they rely on high schoolers as lifeguards who go back to school in early August. So, let's solve for this problem, eh? How about relying more on college students ( who don't start back so early) as well as non-student adults? And offer reduced hours (like after school). I have family with school age kids coming for summer vacation who were looking forward to some pool visits and were shocked when they saw the schedule. August is a vacation month; polls find 1/3 of those who plan a vacation say they will go in August. This makes Placerville less ideal as a destination. More importantly is that there is no after-school open swimming for local residents who want to beat the August (and Sept) heat, as well as allow kids to practice and maintain swim skills they learned (during after-school hours). Seems like this could be an easy fix.
