Beautiful, up-kept, spacious park. So much room for dogs to run, kids to play, people to get exercise. There are tennis courts, basketball hoops, playground, benches to sit on, tables to eat at and water faucets. There are also doggie bag stations so there should be no reason for owners to not pick up after their animals.

This is a charming, and fairly large, park nestled next to the Brookside community of Stockton California.I'm told this is a nice area... As nice as it can get in the Stockton area. I am an out of Towner so I don't know anything about that.Very large grass fields for sports with well-maintained grass. Large perimeter walkway and private parking lot. The bathroom is locked, which I don't understand. Nice planned community with nice houses surrounding the park.Small kids play structure with aging equipment with the dreaded wood chip filler ground covering. The reason I'm taking away two stars

Nelson park is located inside the Brookside neighborhood. Brookside has a mix of mostly gated and a few ungated communities. The park is a public use park that attempts to have a safe inclusive place for residents of Stockton to break down barriers, make new friends, and enjoy outdoor sports. They have bathrooms on site near the jungle gym kiddie playing area. Parts of the park can be rented for events. There are tennis courts that can be booked out. A lot of the park is also open space for playing. A basketball court often has two half court games going. Some rules of the park and California that people should consider following to allow for a pleasant experience for everyone. First, no smoking in the park. Don't expose others to carcinogens. Really, don't do it. Secondly, keep dogs on leash. It's a safety thing. Lastly, pick up your dog's poop. It's good karma.

I am not familiar with Stockton but was brought to this park as a convenient destination for a gathering of people coming from different directions. There were over 30 people at the party and the parking was more than adequate as were the picnic tables and benches in the shade of a large pavilion. The park has lots of turf and lovely trees, as well as a playground, and restrooms that were not bad and available for use. It was a very nice place to be for an early afternoon cook-out, even on a hot day.
