MJ's Downtown Cafe & Bakery

This café is definitely one of our go to cafés. It is right downtown Brentwood. They are consistently delicious this time around. I had two eggs over easy with potatoes and bacon. They cook the eggs perfectly every time. This place is always packed, but they get you seated very fast. The ambience is chill. If you're in downtown Brentwood and want to try a great breakfast spot this is it. you will not be disappointed .

Love this place! Be prepared: there is usually a wait. They have homemade baked goods that look so delicious! As none of them are gluten-free, I can't try them, but people seem to love them!Cute place in downtown Brentwood. Clean and bright inside with plenty of seating at tables or even a nice, wide open bar. Staff are busy but efficient and friendly. When you are done, you pay at the counter by the door. Food-wise, I have only tried the MJ scramble because cream cheese, chives, and eggs? Yes please! every time I go, I get them with the home fries and though they don't have gluten-free bread, they do offer fruit on the side, which I was quite pleased with! I probably should try something else, but when you like what you like, it's hard to change! My guy got the Italian omelette, which had Italian sausage and pesto, among other things. It was an interesting combination, one you normally wouldn't think of for breakfast, but he actually thought it was quite delicious and creative. I love supporting small businesses!

Well lit, clean and overall nice the staff play music low in the background, making the atmosphere fun. Their bakery when you walk in has freshly stocked committed, cakes and other treats. Outstanding wait staff. Food comes pretty quick and it's fresh. The taste is amazing they serve breakfast and lunch foods all well flavored- be ready to eat they give you huge servings!Don't forget to add about their specials- those are always a treat. I Today- I had slow cooked shredded carnitas with eggs and Potatoes, salsa and sour cream!!! It blew my mind

What took me so long to visit MJ's? Well, I won't be a stranger anymore. I chose to go on a Sunday morning and it was packed. That's the first sign of a good restaurant! I was warmly greeted by Owen. (I take names of the people that make a difference.) He did and so did Val. Val was my server. I might add a server with a smile. I feasted on eggs Benedict, hashbrowns and a cup of coffee.Delicious delicious delicious! I will be back!

Amazing cafe! From the well plated food, to the prompt service to the bright and welcoming dinning space MJ's is a Brentwood staple when it comes to breakfast. The French toast was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making it the highlight of breakfast. However, the other dishes were equally good.

such great staff & they have a big dining area! but unfortunately my omelette came out super duper oily which really bugged me & left me unsatisfied. fresh fruit tasted great & my family enjoyed their meals

I had the omelette "The Relleno" and added chorizo to it = 9/10They were completely slammed so service was very slow. However, the food was tasty so I'd definitely be back to try more items.

This is my favorite local spot for breakfast. On the weekends you have to get there early because it's very busy. Their homemade baked goods are delicious. Their specials are great. Everything on their menu is tasty. If I had to single out one item it would be their Texas French Toast. It's phenomenal. I love the hint of cinnamon and it's not too moist and a little crispy on the edges. MJ's does an excellent job of making you feel welcome. They always check on you and they are very generous with refills. It can be a little noisy depending on where you are seated but it always feels so warm and lively.

The food was amazing! I had the California Benedict and my boyfriend had the hearty 3 eggs with bacon and sausage. My Benedict was on point. We also got an order of French toast because we saw the pictures and HAD to try it. 10/10. Some of the best French toast I've ever had! Our server Gabi was awesome and super attentive. I would definitely come back! Oh and the music is great! lol I was dancing the whole time I ate.

My wife and I had breakfast here at MJ's Downtown Cafe & Bakery before I prepare to head to work. Upon entering, it is hard not to notice the their bakery and its colorful selection of pastries. The place is quaint, lively an color and airy. Not too long our server took our orders: Chicken Fried Steak for me and Ranchos Huevos for the wife with Banana Pecan flapjacks to share.The fried steak is distinctly delicious, and my crispy potato hash is properly fulfilled. Took a taste of the ranchos huevos and it too was good as well. The banana pecan pancake was nice and fluffy and the pecans add a nice crunch into it. Overall, we had a good breakfast at MJ's and would not hesitate to come back.PS, didn't see that they can have loco moco until I scouted Yelp. I'll make sure to come back and try that!
