I hesitated to write this review, because Miss Jean is such a gem that I would rather keep her all to myself! But the right thing to do is to share the love.I have 3 daughters, and 3 months ago only one of them could swim at all. I was really nervous about taking my kids near water because I was constantly anxious about them drowning. When I met Miss Jean three months ago, I told her my summer goal was to have each of my daughters swimming - even (especially) the 3 year old! Three months and a total of 36 lessons later, all three girls are full swimmers who are completely comfortable and confident in the water by themselves. In fact, it only took Miss Jean two months to get them there!Miss Jean is magic with kids. She has so many years of experience, she really just gets kids and swimming. She knows when to push them and when not to. She knows how to sell swimming to them. She knows all the barriers and how to ease her students through them. She connects crazy well with each child. She has oodles of toys with spiffy names (e.g., the "marshmallow stick," the "treasure chest") that the kids just love.I watched her interact with not just my kids, but many other children in countless lessons throughout the summer. Her superpowers are: (1) Patience - like, a ton ton of patience; and (2) Understanding each child individually, and custom-tailoring her approach to each one. I watched her work with children with developmental disabilities, epilepsy, super young children, and older teenagers with appropriate differentiation and so much love.PLUS PLUS she was super flexible about scheduling all summer. She uses a great system of Google-calendar invites. You can cancel anytime up until right before the lesson with no penalty. Between my 3 daughters' other summer camps, family trips, etc. etc. I needed to constantly revise our schedule, and she was a total trooper about it. You schedule when you want, you change the schedule when you want, and you only pay for lessons you attend. Wow.So: She is the swim-whisperer. All her students + families think so, and they are probably not posting about it on yelp for the same reason I didn't want to. ;)

Miss Jean is the B-E-S-T! She is always in control and keeping the lesson positive and fun despite young kids antics. She goes above and beyond before, during and after all lessons. She communicates very well for scheduling, etc. I can't recommend highly enough.

Miss Jean is just one of those special people who brings a little magic to an 8 year olds learning experience through caring, kindness, and expertise. We can't recommend Miss Jean highly enough! Because of Miss Jean's coaching, my daughter now has the confidence and skills to swim laps back and fourth across the pool using all the different strokes. Thank you Miss Jean! :)

Miss Jean Swimming is the best! Each of the instructors has understood how to best communicate with my children and help them face their fear of water in a fun way. The perfect balance of fun and pushing them out of their comfort zone in a safe way. Thank you, Miss Jean!

Miss Jean is truly a miracle worker in the water. I'm convinced she can teach any child how to swim thereby quite literally saving childrens' lives. Even the most scared, reluctant, defiant of kids are drawn into the water by her charms. Soon she'll have these same kids smiling, splashing and enjoying themselves while learning the basics of blowing bubbles, putting their head in the water, floating on their back. It's impressive to watch her take command in the water- always in a gentle loving way so the kids know who's boss. Thanks to Miss Jean, my 4yo can now float on his back and swim halfway across the pool. She's teaching my 7yo how to dive. He now swims around the deep end with ease. A few months ago, I didn't think this was possible. As someone who loves the water, I will forever be grateful to Miss Jean for teaching my kids how to swim. My kids love her, I love her, everyone loves Miss Jean! I would wholeheartedly recommend her to any skill of swimmer at any age. I've watched her teach toddlers how to swim or teens how to improve their strokes. She really is the best: a wonderful person and masterful swimming teacher.

My 6 year old is learning to swim with Miss Jean. She is awesome. We had been to classes at other places but he was still fearful of putting his face in the water. After a few lessons with Miss Jean he is swimming the length of the pool by himself, happily jumps in the deep end, and is even working on diving. He now loves swimming and it's hard to get him out of the pool.
