Was on a bike ride through downtown today and started noticing my beach cruiser making a funny noise near the pedals so I decided to drop in Mike's since I knew they'd be open on a Saturday afternoon. I was greeted by the folks are the register and proceeded to the back of the store where the mechanic is. He told me he'd look at it and it would be $15 to fix the bushing issue which probably only needed to be tightened. And if it needed replacing we'd go from there. I gave him 10 minutes and he came back with my bike and a smile on his face saying that it only needed tightening. A big relief and I was back on the road after paying the $15 at the register. Thanks guys

In my recent review of Mike's Bikes of Folsom (which you can read here: https://bit.ly/3mOizMc ), I said that I definitely intended to purchase my next bike from Mike's Bikes. As it turns out, I ended up purchasing it from the Sacramento location. When I stepped into the store, I was greeted by Casey (exact spelling unknown). She was extremely knowledgeable about cycling issues, including those which are specific to females, and was able to help me pick out a great bike. The first bike I tried out was a black cherry Cannondale Quick 2. The drive train was smoother than any I'd ever ridden before, but the bike was so lightweight that it felt fragile to me. In theory, I want to be able to cut my time on the paved bike trail, but, I grew up jumping BMX bikes on dirt tracks in the Mojave desert. An ultra light road bike frame just feels wrong to me-- even if it is black cherry, and on sale.Casey suggested that I try a bike with a front fork, "in case it makes all the difference." So, the next bike I tried was a Cannondale Quick CX 3. The front fork made all the difference, but after having experienced the smooth drive train on the Quick 2, the Quick CX 3 felt clunky and cumbersome. Overall, the Cx 3 seemed like the better option, but I didn't feel entirely sold on it.When I left, I told Casey that I was going to the Folsom store to purchase the last emerald Quick CX 3. But, since they were already closed, I went home to do more research, and found a bike that seemed to have the best of both worlds: the Trail SE 4. The next morning, I rode the emerald CX 3 bike in Folsom, but couldn't buy it without trying the Trail SE 4. So, I went back out to Sacramento. The Trail SE 4 was a little bit out of my original price range, but after having experienced the higher end drive train on the Quick 2, there was no going back. The purple color, which I would have preferred, had sold out nationwide in my size (small), but they still had one small black and silver Trail SE 4 left.Even though the seat and handlebars were in the entirely wrong position for me, I immediately knew that this was my bike. Once they adjusted those things for me (after a few rides), I became very satisfied with my purchase. My new bike will still take some getting used to, since it has features I had never even heard of before (such as its very powerful disc brakes). I feel like I've learned more about bicycles in the last few weeks than in the last twelve years before that, combined.I normally never purchase any warranties or service plans, no matter what, but, in this case, I did purchase the five year service plan. The plan covers unlimited tune-ups and service costs for five years, and cost less than the combined cost of two individual tune-ups. Those currently cost more than twice as much each as they did when I bought my last bike, nearly twelve years ago. I feel extremely confident that I will get my money's worth. The one question about my bike that I've been asked the most so far is: Did it come with those pedals? No, but yes. As Casey reminded me, bikes are shipped to the store without pedals, and the store puts cheap, "temporary" pedals on them.My last "temporary" pedals eventually busted on me mid-ride, but not before I got thousands of miles of use out of them. This time, though, I wanted to start out with better pedals, so the purple pedals were an upgrade that I paid for. They're extra wide, with sharp, built-in cleats to help my shoes stay in place. My only criticism of Mike's Bikes is that I feel like they could do a better job curating accessories for women. I ended up buying most of my accessories online, since the store clothing selection was not great (although they did have a nice selection of racks, bells, cages, bottles, etc.). For example, I ended up buying a Giro helmet, 2 pairs of Pearl Izumi shorts (make that 3, because the burnt rust color went on sale on Amazon as I was in the process of writing this review), and 3 pairs of Specialized gloves online. This is because Mike's Bikes did not have a great variety of styles, colors, and sizes for women in stock in the store.Overall, I'm a huge fan of Mike's Bikes, and will probably keep shopping here for many years to come. I love my new Cannondale, and have already ridden it a couple hundred miles.

Found my special bike here! Super smooth GT mountain bike, took it for a spin, and fell in love. Great prices. The bike was on sale and bought a few additions. There are tons of choices here, from accessories, bikes, clothes, etc. Great customer service, they also installed the bike pump to bike and mounted my bag! Very cool. The place for cyclists! Would highly recommend.

We called to make sure they can fix my son's E-bike tire and we spoke to a nice lady over the phone, who explained the cost and that we needed to order a tire since they did not carry the exact size. Couple of days later, we drove to the store with the bike and we were greeted by the store manager, who told us that, they did not work on any bike that they did not carry in the store. Two stars for the person who answered the phone and Shame on the store manager who did not want to honor his employee's commitment.

I stopped in recently to snag a tire valve adapter after misplacing mine. The employee behind the counter was very helpful and also asked if I needed a refresher on how to use the adapter. He gave me a quick demo, some helpful tips, and then was also able to get me some extra caps for my tire valves. All in all, very pleasant experience! There was ample parking available in their lot and I was in and out quickly. I'll definitely be returning for any of my bike-related needs!

My teen had a flat tire repaired but it went flat again overnight.Staff said it was glass (different cause, not bad repair) but went ahead and fixed it at no extra cost. This was kind customer service & we appreciated it much!

I wish I had come here right away instead of the wallowing through other Sacramento bike shops! Andrew and Marc on the floor...very knowledgeable, not a bit pushy. My wife recently bought an amazing Gazelle ebike and I am about to bring home a new mountain bike. Will and all the mechanics, great work with, fantastic communication. It was a long quest but I finally found a great bike store in Sacramento! (To be fair, City Bikeworks was awesome until they became Trek and all the janky Midtown vibe leaked away...

Mike's Bikes is great! They have a huge selection of Bikes and peripherals. Their sales staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The bike mechanics can fix any sort of problem or issue you may run into, and their prices are very good.I have been here many times, and I am never disappointed. The best thing really, is the friendliness of the staff. They will go out of their way to help you.

I have never been treated so poorly when simply trying to get my mtb serviced. The mechanics act like their farts don't stink. I asked a few questions about my bike and what level of service was required and if they could get a specific part for me but the employee was extremely rude and made a comment about my 2022 bike being "old school" and practically laughing at me. It was so strange the way he made me feel like I was imposing by asking him to do his job. Im just getting into the sport and came in ready to spend some money but instead of being welcoming and helpful they treated me as if I was a peasant for not just buying a new bike. Why even have a service department? I wound up at bobs bikes where the service was excellent. Unless you like pretentious douche bags that don't want to do their job I'd avoid this store at all costs. If I could rate 0 stars I would.
