Took my son and niece here last month and loved it.Entering the Japanese Garden, I felt instant peace and relaxation. It's small but beautiful. Loved the koi and calming waterfalls. My little niece enjoyed the playground. Looking forward to my husband's work company picnic here next month.

What a disappointing day.I grew up in Lodi and I have been to Micke Grove Park dozens and dozens of times. I enjoyed coming here as a kid in the 90's (yeah, you heard me) playing at "Fun Town", going to the zoo and hopping along the stones in the pond inside the Japanese Garden. When my son was young, I brought him here a few times because I had such fond memories, but as an adult, I realized it was really no better than any other park. The Funderwoods area was crumbling. The zoo was actually quite sad and disappointing and he was never interested in the museum filled with old farming equipment. It has probably been 8 or 10 years since I have been here, so I decided to bring my dog today and get some steps in. We paid the $5 weekday entry fee + the additional $1 pet fee (I have attached photos of some of the park rules and fees in case that helps) and then drove through a labyrinth of curvy roads to get to the parking area. It was distressing to see the condition of the park as you drive through. There were piles of branches and debris and everything was covered in leaves. We finally reached the parking near the Japanese Garden and zoo and there were cones around fallen branches and trucks parked in the lot but no one cleaning up the mess. IMO, the only thing worth doing as an adult at this park would be a visit to the Japanese Garden. It's very small and not nearly as nice as any you would find up north or in the bay, but for the area, it's something. As we approached we saw a sign advising that the garden is only open from 9am-1pm (see photos) and there are no dogs allowed. Oh and don't try bringing a dog in a satchel or stroller either because they have specific signs against that as well. I was discouraged but I had already paid the entry fee so I walked around the park for an hour or so. Honestly, it only got worse. This park is literally rotting. The wooden picnic tables are rotting and falling apart. Grass is overgrown and covered with leaves and poo. I had to wash my shoes when I got home because the tops had some sort of brown film on them after walking in the grass. The only new area with a small pond and some play equipment was also completely covered in old leaves but the extreme goose poop was the worst of it. I kept getting wafts of death and decay and it was so depressing that I finally left. I did see new administrative type buildings in the park with employees standing around but I honestly don't know what the county is doing. I read, after heading home, that the county has given them MILLIONS to work on this place and add putt-putt or something, but they should probably invest that money in better employees and management. Lodi Lake is a much better option if you want a nice enjoyable afternoon in the area.

Great place to have the kids run out their energies! Zoo, playground, Japanese garden & water park area. Entrance is $5 weekdays, $6 weekends. They accept card & cash. Zoo is okay, not many animals to look at.

Pet friendly alert! You pay to ($5) to get in but the park so huge you will appreciate how much you can walk the dogs to stretch a legs (especially during a road trip). It takes you a few miles off the highway but a proper rest is important!!!! Dogs must be on the leash though ample space for them to explore. There is a Japanese garden that looked beautiful from outside but with dogs cannot be allowed inside.

We drove a long way along with over a dozen plein air painters from all over California, only to arrive at Micke Grove park to learn that the Japanese tea garden was closed due to some downed trees from a storm over 6 weeks ago. The majority of the park had trees down, but only the tea garden was closed. No clear mention of the closure on their website. Rather it states that they are open everyday except Christmas. No mention on Yelp. The garden gate still has a sign from 2022 for a special event. An insulting insincere apology from the incompetent Stockton parks administration was offered. No accountability, no commitment to change website and notify the public. Do better at communicating parks/recreation!

Zoo was totally unkept and looked mostly abandoned. The few animals we saw looked sick and were fairly common local birds and turtles. The Japanese garden was overgrown and the water was disgustingly filthy. There are no koi left. Probably died from the gross water. The water park for kids was closed and the restaurant and amusement park were also. Not worth visiting anymore should just be torn down.

visited Mickey's Grove today it's such a sad looking place and what it used to be dry weedy even the animals hardly had any water and it was very hot. It's really sad that the place is not kept up. I know it's not the maintenance people. It's gotta be the funding, so please try to get water to the animals. They look so tired and hot and clean up the place better give them more money to fix it up. Bring some animals back and take better care of them. They look so pathetically, sad and hot and miserable, make it a beautiful place as it used to be and clean in the zoo , clean out all those empty cages
