From early childhood Merwin Rose was intrigued with geology, especially when it came to soil formations on their ranch. Learning from experimentation, Merwin learned that certain types of soil were more conducive to growing specific types of plants. From teaching geology to owning his own business (Rose's engineering Geology & Survey) you can find his designs in the Elk Grove Regional Park. (Sandlot volleyball court, benches, restrooms and Rotary Grove.Merwin F. Rose Park is 1.1 acres in size and is part of the Elk Grove Community Service District (Laguna). Completed in the year( 2000.)The park offers an open play area for mul-ti purpose use, picnic area with picnic tables, and a play structure with slides and climbing structure. Nicely maintained neighborhood park . And beautiful red roses to to honor Merwin Rose. How fitting !

We love this little neighborhood park. It is perfect. There is plenty of street parking. There are about 3 benches and 2 tables. The trees are medium to small, but there is plenty of shade. It is perfect for a picnic. Teenagers do hang out there (like most parks). Usually the park is pretty empty. There is a water fountain too. It is great to have on warm days. No swings though. If you want to have party there you will have to bring additional seating. There is plenty of grass. It is well maintained all year long.
