Merced Grand Buffet

This restaurant used to be THE Chinese buffet in town with a lot of options, a hibachi chef, and a solid salad bar. However, it's really since toned down in quality and popularity.I went yesterday for the first time in years and I found the food to be tasty but extremely oily. There were a lot of seafood options which I found myself gravitating towards most. Their selection of soups is pretty standard but the salad bar is very minimalist. At least there's a shrimp cocktail section.For dinner and weekends, it's about $16.99 per person, ~$2 for fountain drinks, $3.69 for a beer. Pretty standard pricing I think. The bussers are decent about getting your finished plates out of your way, depending on how crowded the restaurant is, but if you want a refill, you will need to wave them down for it. My cousins ordered some Pepsi's and unfortunately they were very flat without bubbles. We liked the ice cream bar, as I prefer scooped ice cream over soft serve. The fruit selection is also pretty standard.Would only come here once in a while. I honestly prefer Champion Grill but just a little bit more. The reality is that both buffets, which used to be great, are living in the shadows of their former glory.

The food was either cold or burnt, and the service was poor. I definitely will not be returning. Everything looks old and outdated. The habichi sushi station was closed to top it all off.

They received an unsatisfactory grade with 43 violation points! There is even a news article about it! No hand washing, raw food on top of cooked food, storing of food in the ice machine and the list goes on, be careful eating out here!

Visible and nice staff/service. The usual what you see in an asian buffet but good food. Tables are clean, however seats need a lot of tender lovin'. Scared we might be sink in or swallbwed anytime. hah. Tables spaciously placed, plenty of room to walk around.

We've been going here for almost 20 years and have seen changes along the way, just like everything else. Last night was awful.... Nothing tasted like it has in the past, from the soups to the vegetables to the seafood. Hot and sour soup was flavorless, green beans were covered in chili peppers, BBQ pork was inedible, salt and pepper shrimp was mushy and also flavorless. $40 for 2, we left very disappointed...

Bad service no refills cold food. To hot and humid inside. Gone down hill big time. Very rude service.Also beware the gift shop. Lady will follow you around convinced you're going to steal. She chased my daughter thinking she was going to steal from the moment we walked in. Bought a couple of items and left. Told her we'd have bought more if she hadn't been so rude. It was insane never had that happen such poor service. Just wow.

Straight to the point the food, awful! Service DEAD!! Ambiance it's really giving North Korea. It's absolutely dead inside, no music or ambiance music. Food is absolutely dry and has obviously been sitting there for a while. This is seriously the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. If I could give it 0 stars I most definitely would. The employees were working with their kids walking around, the guy at the from counter is just watching YouTube. This is NOT the place to come to. I told my friends that a location specially a restaurant has never made me depressed like it did here.

Few years ago place was great. Good food nice people and price was affordable. Took my wife yesterday and I will tell anyone who ask not to eat there. Food horrible not to mention way over priced. Over 40$ for 2 people. When the food is gross. Made us both sick for 2 days. Really gone down hill for sure. Oh cute lil lit up tree they added though.

I've been here twice. The first time was pretty decent on a weekday. The second time... not so much. It was on a weekend and the price was a lot more than the weekday. The quality was actually worse too. There was actually less selection compared to the weekday and they ran out of the ice cream. For the weekend price, I could have gone to a regular Chinese restaurant and order individually the family dishes and still came out cheaper. It was not worth it to me, in my opinion.The service was nice though both times. They were friendly and made sure the drinks were top off. They clean up the plates and check in on us.There isn't much of an ambiance, but it's a buffet so I wasn't expecting much.

Food is very good. I will return whenever I sm in town.It's a buffet do the service is irrelevant.
