Found ourselves in Jackson tonight and there were only a couple of restaurants open within walking distance. We didn't want to pay for the more expensive Italian restaurant and ended up at Mel and Faye's. The place was hopping! Inside and outside. We ended up getting and splitting a 10 oz NY Steak w/salad, vegetables, Texas toast and baked potato. It was more than enough for both of us. Our server was adorable! I can't remember the last time we got that kind of attention, especially when they were so busy and missing a couple of servers. It was obviously a favorite for locals and it was enjoyable to watch their interactions.

I have been eating and this diner since I was a child, before it was in the new construction building it's in now. It was one of our family staples to go to all the way through high school (which for me ended in the early 2000s). admittedly, I had not been back in many years, but I was excited to experience an old favorite again, this time with family in tow who had never been there. The service was attentive and polite, I will say. it was moderately busy, but not slammed. However, the food was...generally not good. most of us didn't finish our food. Here is why:- The fries were pale and unsalted.,no crisp to them at all. Even the toddler at the table spit them out. He is not a picky eater. - The chili on the fries was oddly slimy and unflavored. Whatever can they dumped it out of, they need to order a different one. Also it wasn't hot enough to melt the cheese on top, so it remained largely untouched. That's a food safety issue. - The chicken sandwich was a reheated circle patty you can get in any school cafeteria. The person in our party who ordered it was ill the next day (ruined his Thanksgiving). - The corn dog cost $4.99 and it was a Fosters Farms out of the box product. - The half rack of ribs was fine to the person who ate it, as was the banana split. My margarita was just sour mix, a littttle bit of tequila, and ice. No real lime was involved. I never leave a marg unfinished, but I did that night. It tasted like Mountain Dew. I suppose Mel & Faye's has become more of a heat-and-serve place than a restaurant that requires actual cooking and preparation. If that's the case, then the prices should reflect that. There are some skill issues in the kitchen, but the front of house was good. I am disappointed that a decades-long favorite is now a place I will not be returning to.

We were knocking around town and didn't know where to stop for breakfast. I looked this up and even with the mixed reviews on Yelp, we decided to pop in. Glad we did. Cute, eclectic, diner vibe. Nice and clean even if it's older looking. You can tell this is where the locals go. We ordered the chicken fried steak with hash browns, two eggs over medium, English muffin and a chocolate shake to share - I mean, why not?!The shake came out first with two spoons. It was delicious! Nice and thick and chocolaty! The meal then came out. Everything was cooked perfect except for the hash browns which were slightly burnt. It was all delicious and we enjoyed the gravy with some extra pepper. The server was very friendly and as attentive as she could be with the amount of tables she had. We will definitely be back to try the burgers. I watched those go past the tables a few times and they were generous looking!

Food, service & prices were excellent......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it's ABSOLUTELY ridiculous that I have to use 85 characters to post a nice review.

Was up camping near Jackson and decided to stop here on the way home. It was pretty busy but we were sat immediately. They have a restaurant area and bar area. They have TVs in the restaurant area as well. The service was amazing. It seemed like the whole staff asked us how we were doing throughout which was pretty nice. I ordered A BBQ Beef sandwich w/fries and coleslaw and a Caramel Shake. Everything was delicious! The sandwich was full of meat and sauce. The coleslaw tasted fresh and the fries were perfect. The star of the show was the shake. It was nice and thick. Not watery like most places. So good! My girl got the Western Salad. It was big and equally as good. Overall great experience!

I truly enjoyed my time at this diner. It has a cozy feel to it even though it has a good size capacity. I got something simple, just chicken strips and a side salad sub the fries and blue cheese and ranch for dressings. The blue cheese had no real flavor though unfortunately but where that packed the ranch dressing made up for , it was what most might call "the good ranch". My guests and I sat for a couple hours catching up and enjoying our time and they never once rushed us and checked in and took our drink orders and refills fast and quickly. I really appreciated how on top of it the service was, they kept coming by in good periods of time to check on us and when we ordered it came out in good time. It's been around for a while and I would definitely call this restaurant a staple in the small community.

Mel and Faye's Diner is just that, a diner that serves diner food. We joined friends for "taco Tuesday". I ordered the taco salad that came undressed but with salsa and sour cream on the side. I would rate the salad 4 out of 5. The taco night deal is 5 tacos and a margarita (or soda) for $14. Most of our table of six ordered the tacos. Although a bit heavy on the mixer, my husband enjoyed the margarita. His only issue is they won't provide salsa with the tacos. An extra $1.50 for each tiny cup of salsa. Seems kind of ridiculous to not provide salsa on taco Tuesday. The wait staff was diligent about checking in to make sure we were doing ok. Location is pretty central in Jackson. Interior is a lot of license plates on the wallls and other diner like decorations. As long as you understand what this restaurant is and that you will get diner food, I recommend. They serve a decent breakfast also.

Every time I order food to go, it's absolutely destroyed. Sloppy and soggy. I keep giving them another chance and they prove to me they are incapable of making quality food. Slow down and take pride in your food. ALSO, last time we ate inside, I was served a ham and cheese on a hotdog bun??? That was the last straw. Do better.

Came here with friends after a camping trip. The staff that helped us were friendly. And the food came out relatively quickly. Pretty standard diner fare options - and they had breakfast available until 4 p.m. if I could give 3.5 stars, I would. Everyone ate their food and we had a good experience. The server also offered to let everyone in our party have separate checks- which made things a lot easier for everyone in our party. Would come back again on the way back from a trip to grab a quick, casual bite.
