This is a perfect park to take your pooch for a quick walk if you need to get out and stretch for awhile when you're in West Sac. The perimeter of the park features a gravel jogging trail that's nice terrain for a walk or a jog. If you choose to visit this park I wouldn't advise you do it alone. The park is in a secluded area so for your own personal safety, really, don't go at it alone. In fact, I don't recommend this park as a destination for a family day out with the children, either. Lock your car door, and don't leave any valuables in plain sight. The entrance to the park is a tad bit tricky since it does require a vehicle to cross over solid yellow lines, so look in all directions and be mindful of other vehicles (especially if they are painted black/white ... if you get my message).

Do not go after dark. I am the adventurous sort.. and didn't get out of the car. It was 715 dark and empty. Me and the pup were stopping by on a quick trip to west sac... he can wait till we get back to a populated area over somewhere that doesn't feel like we may be snatched.

Nice quit park to walk, picnic, or jog. Running trail around park. I bring my dogs for little walks whenever I'm in West Sacramento. Small playground, picnic tables, benches, and nice green grassy area.

Okay so I am from the area so I will give my honest review about this park. As another reviewer noted, it is quite secluded so being cautious is always great advice, especially at night. There sometimes is an issue with homeless people sleeping here at night but they are completely harmless, all they want is peace. There is also a problem with people coming here when it gets darker to smoke marijuana but they are usually more afraid of you and also just want to be left alone. I don't bug them and they do not bug me. Neighborhood dog owners frequent the park over the day and most of them are usually really respectful with walking their dogs on a leash but there are some that do not (which can become annoying if you have an unfriendly dog). The park is pretty great during the day, very peaceful and quiet. During summer, families come and hang out together and play volleyball or soccer on the grass. I've seen friends hang out together during the day to play card games and usually bring a lantern so they can use as it gets darker. There is a track here so it is not uncommon to see people jogging here early in the morning or later in the afternoon. Sometimes graffiti can be spotted on the brick walls separating the park from the freeway but the city is usually very quick on cleaning up the mess caused by "edgy" teenagers. The "playground" is not as fun looking as other parks located in West Sacramento, but there is swings for children or even adults to use. I like to bring my nieces and nephews here during warm weather to give them the liberty to run around and just explore on their own. I also walk my dog daily at this park so I found it funny when another reviewer made it sound like advice you give to someone visiting Compton for the first time. Overall this park is great for dog walker and joggers or even someone practicing their soccer/football skills. Children would probably get bored after about 30 minutes or so because the lack of an actual playground. Overall it is quite clean for a secluded park and very quiet considering that it is right next to a highway. Now that I think of it, I've never actually heard any honking while walking my dog.
