Sat beside this painted rock. Ate my lunch, leisurely, on a very beautiful autumn day...
We watched as couples sat side-by-side on benches feeding geese and ducks!

... And decided to see if it was painted on the other side. It was. Sweet sentiment. Purposefully left behind, I'm sure. 10-18-23

I can't express how much I love all the green spaces in our amazing city. I love that you can walk down a busy city street and then you're in a little oasis of a city park.McKinley Park is in a cute area that is surrounded by houses and has a library, pool, lake, rose garden, picnic area, tennis courts and more. It's a great place for a walk and there are restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance if you want to pick something up and then enjoy a picnic. Recently I stopped by after grabbing coffee and took my dog for a walk around the park and rose garden. We had some great weather and the flowers were gorgeous. There's parking available all around the park and we found a spot with no issues. We also noticed some people having a garage sale in the neighborhood and a lot of families and dog owners out walking. The park was clean and had a great variety of sunny and shady spots as well as seating areas and trash cans for people to utilize as needed. As we were leaving it looked like an event was being set up as well. It would be a great place to get together with friends for some outdoor activities.

McKinley Park has to be one of my favorite parks in the Greater Sacramento area! It simply has it all! Just to list a few of it's glories- tennis courts, updated playground, Sac Public Library, community pool, a pond with ducks, rose garden, and picnic tables. Not to mention tons of running space for the pets! This park is somewhere I spent lots of time as a child growing up in Sacramento, but I also love it in my adult life for the tennis courts. The courts are open from sunrise to sunset. They're ALWAYS clean. I appreciate that there is a solid amount of them so that I never really worry if there will be one open and available to use. They have a wall to practice solo, and benches to leave equipment. I feel like there's not many spots in Sac with public tennis courts, so this one is a treasure for sure!

McKinley is a great local gem with something for everyone. I like to go walking here on days I need to finish my steps but have attended other events with friends such as book club meetings, baby showers and picnics. The park is well lit (perimeter) as are the surrounding houses making you feel safe even as a woman walking alone at night. There are very well lit tennis courts that are always lively. A lap around both section of the park are equivalent to a mile making it easy to track your mileage. There is a beautiful rose garden and cute duck pond. People come here to play or practice a variety of sports. There is also a library, community center, real bathrooms and plenty of parking. It is easily accessible for everyone.

I love this park. The rose garden in the late summer is phenomenal. The little Mckinley library has become my best friend. Watching tennis from the bleachers is always a fun moment. The park and the small pond make for such a cute scenic walk! this park has it all and there is so much room for picnicking. Would recommend a thousand times over. Plus ladybird was filmed in the rose garden :)

The park itself is absolutely beautiful, clean, safe, and huge! With something to offer for everyone. I take my puppy here multiple times during the week both during the day and at night - mostly to neutralize him to people, animals, children, etc. which has been a huge success! Coming here is always the highlight of my week.
