Manteca Martial Arts

My son has been going to Manteca Martial Arts for 2 years now. The flexibility in training days/times was very convenient for our schedule. They have also been very accommodating and understanding when we have issues that came up with payments. The more days my son attends give him more opportunity to work on his material and test in order to move through the ranks. The material binder is very helpful so we can practice at home and being able to have access to all the material for all of the belts. They have started bringing back different Holiday events and activities like weapons training, Summer camps, and Pizza/Game nights. Sensei Katie started off as a student years ago and is now one of the main instructors we see. While I think she is more lenient than Sensei Mark, I as a parent can appreciate both of their approaches to teaching and my son enjoys both days he sees them. With their guidance, we have seen a noticeable difference in his emotional maturity, focus, team work, self esteem, discipline both at home and school. On busy days, they have Jr. Instructors from the older classes come and help which is fun and motivating for the kids to see that they too could be a Jr. Instructor if they work hard enough. We've thought about trying out other forms of martial arts but my son loves training here and we will be a part of the MMA family until he decides to make a change.

I highly recommend the programs/classes here!!! You will NOT be disappointed! Sensei Mark Cameron is amazing with the students! My child has been training here now for 2+years. They teach Shaolin Kempo & Shotokan Karate. The training includes physical exercise, strength training, and self defense. BUT- even more than the physical training is also a component of the program that I think really sets MMA apart from other karate classes. Emotionally strengthening components of the programs & classes including self control, accountability, courage, confidence, kindness, self respect, respect for others, and so much more!!The quote from Sensei Mark Cameron states that at Manteca Martial Arts they believe that:"A Goal is a Dream with a Deadline." To me the quote is a good example of the balance of physical & emotional teachings here.

I'm pretty upset. My son did martial arts through Lathrop Parks and Rec, which is run by Manteca Martial Arts, and the regular teacher was great. Sensei Mark was the head of the program and would teach every now and then, and in the 4 months we were there he gradually started getting harder and harder on the kids. My son came home crying because Sensei Mark said that he would start demoting kids and taking away their belts if they didn't improve. I've seen him be overly and unnecessarily tough & MEAN towards any kids who are yellow belt and above. Some of these kids are 8 years old or younger, but he treats them all like they're teenagers in military school! His style reminds me of the bad guys in Cobra Kai. Never going back.

My 9 year old daughter loves it here! Great environment. She has fun, while learning self defense and discipline.

If you live in the area and are wondering where to sign up your kids THIS is the place!! Testing, gi, and belt fees are all included! The teachers clearly care about these kids and put their time and effort in to interacting with each of them to meet their individual needs. My son has been attending for a few months now and he absolutely loves it. I was kind of lost on where to go when looking for a karate class but I'm so glad I came here.

Very pleased with Manteca Martal Arts. Family Friendly and my kids love coming here. I would recommend this dojo to any family.

I do not agree with "imelda"'s review .. my son is three years old. He is learning to listen, and follow instructions. The teachers are strict , patience and fun. My son loves the class. And I love the way the teachers encourage my son to learn. I enrolled my four year old daughter as well. I highly recommend this martial art studio. I visit three studios to compre our options and Manteca Martial Marts is the best one.

I don't get the great reviews, and here's why:1. There are way too many students in the classes I saw. 2. The classes were chaotic and disorganized.3. I tried very hard to understand what the instructor was saying, but he talked too fast and it was too noisy with all the chaos. If I couldn't understand him, then neither can his students.

Orange belt, awesome!! My son is always very excited to attend. Sensei Courtney and Sensei Katie are both very patient and awesome to my son and all students in the class. Keep it up!
