Makamae Melia O' Polynesia

I hired Makamae Melia 'O Polynesia for a private party show for my husband's birthday party. The communication was clear and constant. The show was amazing and had a lineup of 8 different songs and dances (hula and Tahitian). They showcased many different styles of dance and costumes and my guests were so impressed by the quality, talent, and professionalism of the group and dancers before, during, and after their performance. I would highly recommend them if you need impressive entertainment for your event.

I engaged the services of this spectacular dance troupe for a tropical themed party. Their program was the hit of the evening. My guests were absolutely enchanted by the artistry and beauty of the performance the dancers, musicians, singers, and fire dancer (truly amazing!!!-a real show stopper!!!) entertained us with. Rhea was so easy to work with and the entire experience far exceeded my expectations. My stepmom and sisters joined this group over a year ago and It's a enjoyment watching them do what they love to do. My sister has always been the shy type around other people but joining this group, they were very friendly and welcoming, it has actually helped her grow out of her shyness and come out of her shell more. Now she can't stop dancing and duck walking all over the house! They have been doing and continue to do great work in their performances. Very family oriented and good environment to be in!

When I first moved to Sacramento, I didn't really know many people or anything to do really. Then I found Makamae and have had a great experience with them and learned more than I expected. Not even just about dance, but about polynesian culture in general. I've danced with other groups before and by far, Makamae has been the only halau I would really consider my second family. For the 3 years I danced there, I always looked forward to seeing my hula sisters every week.I especially like that even though there are different classes and class levels, we learn a lot of the same routines so that come performance time, we can dance together with no hesitation. I also appreciate that each teacher has their own style and are available for 1 on 1 sessions, which is really useful during competition season.They say that those who can't, teach. But I know first hand that Rhea is an amazingly talented dancer (YouTube it!) and we are lucky that she made a commitment to share that with the rest of us.

I have been taking classes since 2008. The instructors all know what they are doing and have been for a long time. There is a strong sense of Ohana(family) every time I step foot into the studios. I have learned so much about Polynesian culture since starting classes.

I've danced with this group for many years and I must say, these people have become family to me. Starting as a beginner when I was 12 years old, and working my way up, I've learned so much, and have had great experiences that I will remember for the rest of my life. They have recently had a turnover in management, so things have been changing quite rapidly to benefit the future of the group, and to help us grow and thrive. We have done many performances together, some including the California State Fair, Pacific Rim Festival, performing for The Shriner's Hospital, and have traveled far and wide to many different competitions including San Jose, Merced, and San Diego. Competing has always been an exciting/emotional roller coaster for this group, but we have always powered through with blood, sweat, and tears, to deliver the best entertainment possible, and leave all of our emotions out on the stage. Dancing with this group has created quite the unbreakable bond! You won't regret it :)

My daughter has been dancing for the group more than a couple years now. She really enjoys performing and competitions. She made good friends and memories on the way. I want to say that the director is very good at teaching the craft of both Hula and Tahitian. I also want to add that the people that teach the classes dedicate their time and effort to make this hui the best that it can be. GO Makamae Melia O' Polynesia!

Please do not hire this business for your event. I paid deposit 6 months prior to my daughters event and they cancelled the performance 2 weeks prior to the event with some lame excuses and did not return my deposit. I had to file a complaint through PayPal.This is a deceiving business. I went through soo much stress with this business

Rhea was such a pleasure to work with and she put on such a great show for my Luau Party. My guests were extremely pleased with the show that Makamare Melia O' Polynesia put on. The dancers were extremely professional and kept the performance going without an intermission. Some of my guests went as far as to say that that Makamae's dancers put on a better show than the dancers in Hawaii. Although we passed up hiring the Tahiti World Champion to perform at our Luau he was such a great team player that he showed up to perform with his team. I would highly recommend that you hire him as a part of your show. This was the first time I hired male polynesian dancers to perform and they really made the show more memorable. I will definitely be hiring them back again.

I have been in contact with these ladies for a couple of months. Trying to get up the nerves to actually take their class. They have been nothing but supportive and encouraging. No pressure. I even went to the 15th annual crab feed to see the Hula dancers in person. I had a great time!! The entertainment was BOMB.com and the food was good!! I've even decided to try a class or two and see what happens.
