I started taking riding lessons with DaNae in late summer 2024 and I am so genuinely pleased with my experience so far. I went to Los Lagos as a beginner rider. I'll admit, it's pretty daunting to pick up riding as an adult. It's *a lot* to learn! But I appreciate and love how DaNae motivates and challenges me each time I'm there. The facility is so beautiful and it's a huge perk to have a covered arena! And if we can't ride on rare occasions, we've got educational lessons. Everyone I've met at the facility has been welcoming. And I've also been really lucky to take my lessons with a great group of girls. I recently heard that DaNae purchased the property and it's so clear that she's putting so much love into the space. I can only anticipate positive changes ahead. Looking forward to continuing my riding lessons and can't wait to see how much I'll learn in time. Who knows...maybe I'll have a horse of my own and board it at Los Lagos someday!

My wife and I started going here early 2023 and couldn't be happier. Management and trainers are the absolute best. My wife gets riding training 3 days a week and is extremely pleased at the expertise and education she is receiving, The relationships my wife is building, not only with the horses, but with all of the staff of Los Lagos Equestrian has exceeded our expectations. We are so happy to have chosen this incredible place.

Hey I have never been to Los Lagos Equestrian but I am currently looking for a new hunter/jumper barn. I wanted to know a few things before I schedule some lesson such as, price, if they do leases, if there are lesson packages, and if they accept working students. If anybody knows the answer to any of these things please email me at [email protected]. Thank you!

After researching several equestrian centers in the Roseville/Rocklin area, and after training for almost six months at small facility in Loomis, I decided to try Los Lagos to hopefully further advance my reentry into hunter jumper training. I was an experienced and active rider in my youth (with both English and Western training) and 30 years later have finally returned to riding. Undecided whether I was ready to own my own horse yet, I wanted to ease back in by taking lessons at a facility with lesson horses. The previous facility I started with had only one lesson horse that ultimately, along with the trainer, was not a good match for my riding style, level and expectations. After six months I had not progressed to the level I felt I should be achieving, despite voicing my concerns more than once to my trainer.I went to Los Lagos and have started training with Heather Kelly -- and I love her! Her personality and training style seem to be a great match for me, and right off the bat she put me on a lesson horse that is (I'd say) a perfect fit. Energetic, but safe (and very sweet). Heather listened to my frustration about my previous training. For example, I told her how after six months my previous trainer still didn't feel I was ready to canter. Heather made her own assessment during our first lesson and had me cantering before the lesson was half over; and at every lesson since. I just finished my fourth lesson with Heather this morning, taking two lessons a week where she's helping me to quickly catch up and find my seat (as it were). She continues to urge (push) me to improve and advance, even when I might doubt my ability. Let's face it, 30 years is a long time to be out of the saddle; yet Heather has treated me from the get-go like a fellow experienced rider. I love how she challenges me; that's what I want/need from my trainer. She knows when I'm ready to try or learn something new, sometimes even before I know I'm ready. I'm not jumping...yet; but I'm confident that I'll get there much sooner with Heather, and suspect that she'll be ready for me to get to it before I am. ;)As for the facility itself, Los Lagos is a well-maintained, mid-sized equestrian center located in Granite Bay, conveniently located to Roseville, Rocklin and Loomis. The facility, which offers training in hunter/jumping, dressage and western, has two outdoor arenas (schooling and jumper) as well as a lighted indoor arena and a full-size dressage court. Additionally (another plus) is trail access to Folsom Lake (multiple trails, I'm told, which I hope to be able to explore more extensively in the future.) In addition to having several lesson horses (I believe there are seven), Los Lagos also offers leases (I'm seriously considering a half-lease in the near future) which would be much more practical for me at this early juncture. Having researched multiple facilities in the Sacramento Area, Los Lagos' prices are reasonable for the services and facilities they offer. Everyone I've met at Los Lagos has been friendly and (like me!) clearly loves being around horses and I've been in "horse seventh heaven" since I started going there. I look forward to hopefully making my "home away from home" there, finally being able to fully return to my lifelong passion for as long as I can afford the time and cost. :)

Los Lagos is a medium-sized facility that offers hunter/jumper, dressage and western training. There is a lighted indoor arena, a full-sized dressage court, schooling ring as well as a jumper arena that had new footing and drainage systems installed. There is access to Folsom Lake with miles of beautiful trails through the live oaks in the area. Cost of board and lessons seems about average for the area with boarding options ranging from large stalls with run outs in the training barn to outdoor paddocks with run-in shelters. There are also full-service options for horses/clients in training. I have not been to any shows with the Los Lagos team, but I do know they frequently attend schooling, A and B rated shows in the area. (Hunter/Jumper) In all pleased with my experience here at Los Lagos and the owner is one of the most genuine people I have met so far in this industry. I am a casual rider but have worked/groomed for FEI level riders in the past. I have never been pressured to lease, show or do anything that I didn't feel comfortable doing. Due to the nature of my job, I move frequently and told the owner/trainer up front that I would not be a long-term client. Despite this, I was made to feel like a member of the community and sense that she is trying to teach me as much as possible before I move again. Carrie is supportive of my needs and desires when it comes to riding, and does everything she can to help achieve my goals. In my opinion, money is not the primary concern at Los Lagos only the welfare of the horses and education of the riders. The only downside is I have become spoiled when it comes to the horses I ride. As I do not own my own horse, I use the trainer's horses in my lessons. Being horses, they all have their own personalities but are all easy and fun to ride. Once you've ridden a nice horse, it's hard to ride anything else!As a side note, I wrote this review of my own volition because like the honey badger, I don't care!

Los Lagos Equestrian has been my home away from home for five years now. The facility has continued to improve the entire time I've been there--the latest improvement being a total renovation of their big jumper arena, which is now to die for! I've never been able to afford to ride as frequently as some other clients there, but Carrie and the assistant trainers still give me their full attention when I do take lessons and always try to give me opportunities to ride. It provides a great group of people to ride around the barn with, a knowledgeable staff to guide you to success in the show ring, and a wonderful facility right on the lake to relax at. I wouldn't change my experience there in any way--it's safe, professional, and a generally happy place to be.

This barn is amazing and reasonably priced. My horse has a paddock and pipe stall. They feed quality feed and your choice of alfalfa or orchard 4 flakes daily. The people who work there are personable, caring and no drama. Last week I decided to used Haley, and barn favorite farrier. She went to the barn within 24 hours and the most reasonably priced and quality work I have ever paid. My trainer is Jeri Lew and works with a young apprentice Sierra. My boy is green, energetic and sometimes crazy. Jeri Lew is working slowly and daily with my boy. Always paying attention to the horses needs within his training sessions. They aren't having me lower his feed to all orchid just to make their training easier - they encourage me to continue his grain and Alfalfa to get him in optimal shape. The owners of the barn out there daily and have pride of ownership with safety a top priority. The facility is clean and arenas grated daily. PLUS three trail heads to the lake. I feel so spoiled! There are other encouraging professional trainers that include Heather our helpful barn manager. Heather is also a trainer, always working with her groups and taking care of the boarders needs. So thankful I found this secret treasure.

I have been at Los Lagos for 18 years. What started as a delightful place to ride, has deteriorated into a poorly run facility with poor care for the horses. My horse's stall was filthy in the mornings, they would sometimes forget to feed and they would frequently miss turning horses out. My trainer finally decided to move barns, and when we gave 30 days notice, we received a curt text advising us that our horses had to be out in 12 days. In the interim, they advised the staff to use fewer shavings in the stalls, and we were all treated horribly. The trainers are curt and not trustworthy, especially with helping clients purchase horses. Its about the money and not finding the right horse for the client. I would not trust this facility with my horse. They are expensive and there are many other nice barns for your sweet horses.

As a former horse professional myself, I wasn't overly impressed at first but after meeting the owner I was leaning towards moving there. The owner seems really nice, was welcoming and made it sound like my daughter and I, our several horses and my jumps and trailer would be a welcome addition. We went back up to our ranch and I after about a month I thought I'd stop back by and make sure we were all good. However....Then I met the "manager"...is she really? I've met women like her before who think they can set the rules. The "manager" informed me that it was a 'show barn' and was very unwelcoming and rude to me.I have been unable to reach the owner...perhaps the "manager" is blocking my messages. So I guess we will not be moving there.I had asked around and have heard mixed things...that they charge for turn outs but that the horses aren't always turned out, that they don't feed well, that they are snobby... I didn't believe it after talking to the owner. But after talking to the "manager" I can understand.Too bad. I was really hoping my daughter would make some friends and take lessons with someone other than me...

My ISH Jack boarded with LL for a year. Wonderful people. Carrie and Gene Orcutt ran a great barn. Heather Kelly was an excellent manager. Caroline Schultz was a great trainer. I can't recommend this place enough for young and old riders; professionals and amateurs. As a board faculty it was top notch for any horse owner. Many arenas, trails, indoor and outdoor stalls.
